BulldogUK Posted October 23, 2009 Author Share Posted October 23, 2009 On these particular minis the gold is simply shining gold? black ink then mithril silver highlights Antman, a much simpler formula than I usually use , oh apart from the terms which are my usual formula of gold, shining gold, devlan mud wash then mithril/gold highlights Anyhow, who'd have thought it. A little over two weeks ago I was looking at the contents of the SH box thinking I just don't have the time or inspiration to get stuck into that lot, it can go under the table until after Xmas, 'oh, wait a sec, that dude on the throne looks COOL, maybe I will just paint him.....' <roll eyes> This final batch represents the last of some fun painting for me, who knows, even the birth of a Nid army next year! I can now tick another one off the project list and put some quality time into playing the damn game! I had every intention to crimson these new fellas up to match the rest of my main army however, after starting on the Wolf commission I really liked the contrast of the mustard/blue grey so I guess that's why I suddenly ended up with 14 of em! Didn't want to waste much time on these chaps so kept things simple, obvious Angel icons were sliced off and replaced by some little plastic card runes I knocked up. Added a few 'fluffy bits' (courtesy of ebay) here n there. Voila. Instantly recognisable wolves! (yellow AND BLACK, rather than just yellow). i also really like how you've done your yellow, most people tend to either go too bright or too 'mustardy' (?) which isn't as pleasing to the eye but yours is very pleasing to the eye which makes it awesome. ID I didn't want to pre-order 2 copies of SH as I am a great believer in giving everyone a fair crack of the whip when it comes to limited edition gear, frankly I think the people who pre-ordered many copies (lets be honest, simply to sell on at an inflated price) screw over the hobby for us true fans ID I bagged my second copy from ebay, floor plans and minis (didn't bother with a few of the term figs and bagged about a dozen extra stealers) from separate sellers and it worked out cheaper than buying a new 'still sealed' copy! Its worth fishing around ID Tutorial: be as awesome as BulldogUK. The end. Seriously great looking minis. Mine are still sadly lacking paint. I opted for complete replacement of the hammer/shield and picked up a set for a couple of quid from ebay. I also seemed to have bought a few clones so rather than have an additional flamer I preferred a standard term and replaced the arm with a metal one from the bits box, the very same terminator donour gave his cyclone launcher towards the Legion Dread...what a star! I'm thinking if your putting that much thought into playing with your toys your probably gonna need a bigger egg timer :devil: Okay, 'final' 4 finished, same deal really, lots of fluffy bits stuck on to give 'em a little more wolf like appearance. BulldogUK Posted August 13, 2010 Author Share Posted August 13, 2010 Been taking a little rest from painting lately but I had an urge to paint something a little brighter than usual so Imperial Fists and Hulk seemed to be the most appropriate choice as there is hopefully little chance of me getting carried away and wanting to paint an entire army! Cut a long story short was chuffed to little mint balls when I managed to snag these unpainted converted minis on ebay the other day, makes for some really nice unique models to add to the Hulk collection.
