Dannis' Black Templars

Dennis

Recommended Posts

I usually spend my time killing Black Templars, but these models are just beautiful. The poses are inspirational. In fact, you can count on me (and many others I'm sure) "looting" them. I have a marine army being stripped and reconditioned right now and I'll defintely be watching your stuf for ideas. Outstanding builds and outstanding painting. You do the Templars proud.

Thanks! Nice to see that people appreciate the 'small' work I did to my marines to ensure they all look different in the army.

The 4 'tabard' marines are finished, and the 3 bolters+PW marines also (although no shoulderpads yet). However my cam is broke, so I can't take any pics in the next few days.

I can say though that I began working on the torso and the arms of the dreadnought, as well as on the Rhino I vowed for the LPC. Also began painting on the body of my magnetized HQ.

Well probably a 'big' update in a few days, when I can get hold on another cam or when my previous cam is fixed. Thanks for watching though!

Oh, great Brother Dannis, I ask of thee to share with one as lowly as I your ancient and infinite wisdom!

How do you achieve the bone color on the pauldrons? I will be starting a BT force over the summer, and I like the look of the bone instead of pure white, a) because it'll be easier to paint and b) it looks more worn and not so clean and pretty.

Help a fellow crusader out?

Your dynamic poses and beastly modelling skills are amazing, by the way. I can't shake a stick at those paint jobs, either.

Sooooo... Long time no update. Basically I haven't done that much painting since the last update, the speeder is finished (but isn't at this place atm), I can show you guys the base though:

I have also some new ideas on the initiates. I have a couple of marines that are finished with the paintjob (minus the backpack), but I want these new ideas thus these marines will be 'expelled' as 'backup' mini's. I could post some pics of them, but as the speeder these aren't at this place atm.

Anyway, here is the 'new' first squad, 7 initiates, still WiP as I'm planning to give them some more bits and stuff.

And the last member, not really anything special yet  (will probs give him a bolter):

On another note, the FW mkIII marines have arrived, so expect an update one of these days on a couple of these guys, I have quite some cool ideas on these fella's :D

And the first 3 of the MKIII marines are finished, atleast the poses. This squad will be where the EC will enter play with, so this is going to be a squad with a powersword. Currently marine nr3 is selected to let his sword be painted as the powersword B)

Kinda looks like he's doing the duck dance  put him on roller-skates and he's good to go.

As usual, your toys are as ambitious as they are impressive. Makes me wanna get back home to my own models and show you who's really top templar 'round these parts :P

Thanks for the replies guys.

@ Sword Brethren: Hmm, well that's something I can surely think about, as I didn't thought about the fact that these swords might look strange when they would be painted as a normal sword (metal). Thanks :)

Well, I wanted to wait with posting a pic of the speeder, since I'm doing weathering atm, and wanted to show you guys the completed model. Anyways, seeing I won't be able to finish it today I will post a 'teaser' pic. I hope I can update the topic somewhere next week with the finished model, I'm really busy with the internship atm, so I don't have allot of freetime.

Hope I can update it pretty soon with the finished speeder!

gorgeous conversion work Dannis, and as Doghoouse said, the warmth of the whites on these works out remarkably...

Keep it up!
