Corswain
I've had a bunch of scenery sitting around in boxes for a while now (in some cases, years) and finally got the motivation, tools and paint to tackle it. Necormunda tiles first. My first ever oil wash and I am extremely pleased. Corswain
Sorry to double post but I wanna get the last of my terrain jobs up. Like I said, there are dome very old kits here: Extremely happy with these and so happy with Contrast. Would have taken me a lot longer without it. mughi3
The spotlight this time around is 3D printed terrain from forbidden prints industrial set i recently picked up. Corswain
Love the shrine. A great use for some classic bits. Excellent way to give those models some extra life. Bouargh
Legend tells that the MkVII Marines Statue at Warhammer World entrance was changed for a Stormcast eternal for AoS promotion purpose. Wrong: with this undisputable proof, we can see that the former statue was in fact used as a training target by GSC invaders... (see NEXOS attack map on webstore for the only documented proof of this insurection...) More seriously, done from rests of plasticard, a Space Crusade SM (uncomplete - I do not know from where or who I got it; I never owned space crusade neither played it except on Atari ST....), and lots of icons and seals from the bitzbox. Updated 14-01-23: here is a second thing I just finished. A half burried chimera chassis. To be used as LoS blocking item/small vantage point/hill... Made out from spare parts of a Legion Basilisk, plus some bitz fron here or there (tracks from 1st version of plastic Leman Russ, SM Scouts crate, elements of sectro mechanicus....). I tried to reproduce a Cthonian head hunter scheme for the hull, and I am quite satisfied with it. It allows the wrecked vehicule to denote from the environmental grey (Ashland themed table). Bouargh
In one month, from a single wrecked Chimera to a complete table, although only for small games so far: I am quite proud of the wrecked vehicles. You cna see them in my galleries, so do not hesitate to visit and drop comments and advises. It will probably grow up in size as I´ve done so far only 4oo10 dragon Teeth and as I have at least enough material for a secon wrecked Chimera chassis (spares from Legion Basilisks) and so many bitz from Leman Russes, Predators... spafe, Firedrake Cordova, Reskin and 5 others 8 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185355-showcase-terrain-scenery-and-fortifications/page/6/#findComment-5909480 Share on other sites

Dr_Ruminahui
Finally ground out a large project - I gave my ork player friend the ork terrain from the killteam box and painted it up along with 6 old resin baracades he had. The oil derrik: The blue and the red are his army's colours, which is why they feature so prominantly on the pieces. The smaller of the ork ruins - there are two of them in the box and I thought it made sense to photo them side by side to show how I mixed up where the colours were to make them look different. Front: The larger ruin piece: The little raised platforms - getting the legs to stay on these is a real challenge. The junk piles: The wooden bridges: The large barricades: The small barricades/cover pieces - wanted each to be a bit different because, well, that's orky: And finally the 6 resin barricades, both the fronts and backs: And finally, all of it together: Firedrake Cordova, skylerboodie, The Yncarne and 10 others 10 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185355-showcase-terrain-scenery-and-fortifications/page/6/#findComment-5911771 Share on other sites
Bouargh
My ultimate addition: 2 buildings made out of from the Sanctum Administratus set. The first one is built almost as the Derelict Manufactorum (I am still working on Sacristan Forgeshrine to get a reactor to be added on the structure) The second one is built with what remain. They can be set in series, to define a kind of long hall building (not shown), separatly (the 2 first pics) or joined in order to get a good center piece with a 3 x 4 modules size (perfect fo KT). All remain coherent with the manufactorum paint scheme I applied on all the kits I have. I guess I have more than enough for a good city fight table now... Corswain
Not sure if this counts for the showcase when it's only the first of six but I picked up a shattered dominion board for very cheap and got the first "trial tile" finished. After de-Sigmaring it a bit, getting rid of some of the crevices and adding some texture paint in places for variety, I painted the whole thing with spray cans and a drybrush. Very happy with the result. Various people out there have done similar colour schemes so thank you to them for inspiration. Dr_Ruminahui
You should - they are pretty quick to paint, and look great just like @bloodhound23's with just a bit of weathering. Its really the weathering that makes the models, in my opinion - certainly that's how I feel about my own. bloodhound23
Thanks, all. Yeah as per @Dr_Ruminahui, the trick was to dry brush the base layers then get right to weathering in no time. I used the Tale of Painters recipe for these, but on more bare weathered metal bits I’ve also used Sonic Sledgehammer’s recipe for Martian terrain to great effect. Very fast via minimal dry brushing over a primed basecoat.
