Bipedal Defiler

Spacefrisian

I've build one before and at that time it was asked if i could do a Tut on it. I 've finally found the kit again so here goes.

I started with the Legs and a big base (made from Plasticard).

Using those pieces wich normally form the arms, the big toe comes from one of the other 4 legs, it needs some cutting on the upper side to make it more stable later on. Dont worry about cutting of to much as that part will dissapear under some armour later on.

Also keep note that the upper part of the leg is best placed in the manner as shown on the pic this gives more posing freedom

All pieces together should look like this. Once one leg is done continue on to the 2nd leg. Dont worry about left and right unless you pose that big toe with an angle.

The 2 legs.

Now comes some real cutting. For the part wich connects the 2 legs "midsection"

This is the same part as that wich would normally hold the arms. you only need the front part of it so cutting halfway the 1st part would be enough. this will leave a hole there in wich the joint socket should fit (smaller part shown on pic).

The end result of this should look like this. (with some armour platting added to th efront section though this is optional.

Once finished you can put the legs on do some dryfitting for the pose (this requires patiance as the model might fall over while glueing)

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d109/Spacefrisian/IMG_3217.jpg

When that is done you have finished the hardest part.

The body is quite straight forward so shouldn't be a problem.

2nd part the arms/ body.

The 1st arm din't get some real cutting work on it i just picked one of the legs from wich i previously removed parts to make a toe for the legs and put it to gether. I flattened the ball somehwat to make a more solid connection later on. Some drilling might be required cause pinning this will make this a piece of cake.

This arm will become my Reaper cannon arm as can be seen on the next pic.

This also shows how i've put it onto the body. Pretty much straight forward i guess.

Onto the other arm.

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d109/Spacefrisian/IMG_3219.jpg

Again i used one of the legs from wich the other toe came from. But i wanted it different. I've cut it in half this time, and flattened the ballpart again.

Did some drilling to make room for some pins and put the parts together again.

A 3rd toe was used to make that thumb (obviously), the claws are the same as those wich normally form the claws on deffy.

(some Close ups of the arm)

Than i've put this arm as wel. And the head was put on as well as some shoulder guards (optional).

Now you need some patiance for this as he might fall of several times unless you pinn this again. And you have youre bipedal defiler. (or Knightlike thing)

I think it looks pretty cool overall. Cant see an issue with TLOS. Standing up like that just makes it more visible to my guns <_<

With his head that high and an ordnance weapon in his chest, I'd imagine he could lay down some serious dakka on your positions.

Nice conversion, but looks too much like a Transformer for my taste. When I see it all I can imagine is the whining voice of Starscream from the old 1980's cartoon series when I was a kid :P

Is that necessarily a bad thing? And the claws look much better used that way. I've never been a fan of the angry crab look.

I think he'll fall on the ground firing the battle cannon but it's just only mine opinion and Im not jealous cuz I like crab-like defiler. :D

Being demonic it doesn't need to keep track of normal laws of nature and such.

...Also, standing him up like that is bound to cause a TLOS argument.

Anybody who cares about winning so much that they complain about this surely wouldn't mind... It just makes it a bigger target?

Very nice job man, very nice indeed :(
