Ignatius Posted January 26, 2010 Share Posted January 26, 2010 Malcador was the only human that the Emperor confided in (the others being his sons and his custodes), he was a very powerful pysker, easily more powerful than Tigirius, and on par with Magnus. Malcador sat in the Golden throne and kept the daemons back from the webway while the emperor fought Horus. However after Horus was defeated and the daemons were unable to break through the web way on earth, Malcador succumb and he was annihilated due to his human body not being able to with stand the pressure of the ordeal. Hence why Magnus was suppose to sit in the Golden throne. Malcador knew he was doomed but still he sat on the throne and prevented the daemons from attacking the palace, he was pretty much the Emperors right hand man (a vice emperor if you like). He commanded the respect of all the primarch which is no mean feat considering he was only human. In the latest thousand sons novel it gives a little more story away as to the golden throne. SPOILER from Thousand Sons The Emperor found the Golden Throne (Dorn didn't build it) and a Webway portal on Earth, The Palace was built over and around it! Magnus inadvertently damaged the Golden throne when attempting to warn of Horus' betrayal and the Emperor was unable to repair it (the emperor was not please with Magnus).
