"And lo, Brother Bobby's Power Armor failed him, as the weight of his many banners brought low even the mighty fiber bundles that augmented his prodigious Astartes strength..."

:teehee:

Just saying, that guy is covered in cloth. It works though. Your dark and gritty (texture wise, I mean) method is very impressive. I've never been able to master that sort of sandy look on my own cloth bits. Is it mostly drybrushing?

Oh, and the freehanding...:tu:

Thanks for the compliments guys. Glad people are enjoyng the collection.

@ Firepower. I have used a combination of techniques since starting on robes. I'd have to say my favorite is wet blending but takes a lot more time.

Next up is power armoured chaplain.

Excellent work. The one quirky thing I see is the angle of the fellow on the far right. With his body and head kicked back like that while both guns are blazing, I can almost hear him screaming "WAAAAAAGH!"

Aside from that, you have shamed myself and my brushes with your superior work. The only honorable path I can see is a dual to the death. I choose a spoon as my weapon.

En guard!

Ellis-Esquire, that is just some brilliant fee hand banner work there. The models are no slouch either. Absolutely brilliant work. I am so thrilled to see this level of modelling and paintwork comeing through to the unforgiven brethren.... happy times are indeed here!! <_<

Thanks shadow guard and firepower. It's always nice to see others appreciate your work! The perfectionist in me doesn't always allow it!

Please learn to keep your perfectionist down...

Some people would kill (Well, almost, maybe look at people funny) for skills like yours. I know I would love to paint that well.

So keep up the good work, but also sit back, pose the unit when you are done and enjoy the feel of a weel built and painted unit and eventually the well painted coherent army they make.

That is after all why you are doing it, to enjoy the hobby!

Please learn to keep your perfectionist down...

Nah, he's got the right mentality. If you;re never quite satisfied, then you never stop trying to do better. It's self abusive, but very productive. ;)

In fact, just to keep it going...you missed a spot. Not gonna tell you where though :tu:

@ LOL - Firepower you really have a sense of poetry. I don't have any clean cutlery though at the minute to duel with you! As for my apothecary, yes he is a little on the 'leaning' side, but I think its because my photo skills are not great and I shot him from below. Also who says the doc can't go nuts?

@ Brother Caedrius - Yes do crack on - the more interest in DA the better I say for all involved!

@ Krewl and Firepower You highlight a real tension in me in enjoying vs loathing units when painted. I've noticed though it really does depend on my mood. Some days I think, 'wow did I do that?' Others its like 'danm that lines messy, that shadings sloppy'. Sadly more the latter, but Firepower is right, it does motivate me to keep improving! And WHERE DID I MISS A SPOT RAAAAAA.

Anyhow, moving on. Heres the start of my "Sternguard". The first chap some of you will know from my 2010 LPC with minor tweaks. The latter is brand spanking. This will be a full squad eventually but all i'm building for now of this squad.

Between you, ODM and one other guy here (sorry I forgot his name), I HATE you guys. I mean that in a good way. Your work is so inspiring, that I try to acomplish what you guys do, but I amm so horrible at painting it gets a bit disapointing sometimes.

But I will do my best no matter how bad I am. You ODM, and the other one is such an inspirationg, I am going to finish what is collecting dust. Thank you for posting your pics.

Nice use of that satellite dish part from the Landspeeder.

They're both looking great, but I like your standard bearer best so far. He's got a couple of details that aren't dark and desaturated (the red parts), and that makes the model come alive in my eyes. But I paint my marines mainly in glaring primary colours, so I might not be the best judge here. ;)

@ Valkyrion: To me its the grimdarkness that puts the 'Dark' in the Angels! :P

@ HJL: Yes it is a chaos symbol indeed. Hopefully he's somewhere shooting at them rather than with them. Though you never know...

@ HsojVvad: Just keep painting. It'll come!

@ AncientGod: Great contstructive critique! Really appreciate your words about desaturation from an artist of your level. Really helpful critique.

Anyhow, heres the latest. Squad of devestators! Hope you like them. They are a 1/3 of my LPC challenge so some will have seen them over there already.
