Dezartfox
Hahaha I hope you took inspiration from my Dante otherwise that's creepy that you had the exact same idea as me XD http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg246/Dezartfox/models2/DSCF1997.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191747-ctks-blood-angels/page/2/#findComment-2389302 Share on other sites
Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Thanks for the comments guys :) To Midnight Runner & Haunter: The Glow was achieved by dry brushing Ice Blue, followed by dry brushing a 1:1 mix of Ice Blue and Skull White. But I do have to point out that the flash on the camera exagerates it a bit. ;) To Dezartfox: I had actually had the idea as soon as I saw the HG kit. But I would imagin alot of us had the same ideas, lol. Looking forward to seeing your painted :) Actually though. I do preffer how you have Dante floating. The Sanguinor wings were an after thought for me. So I had already set the legs before and it looked silly to have him floating with his legs forward. More will follow. Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Captain Aphael of the Blood Angels 2nd Co. The Blooded. A step by step guide on the banner can be found through the WIP link on my Signature. The Back Pack is magnetised with inter changeable Jet Pack. Also his arms are magnetised although I have yet to build/paint other weapon options for him. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00090.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00092.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00093.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00091.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00094.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00095.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00096.jpg Finally I would like your opinion ladies and gents. I bought some Quickshade Strong tone from TheArmyPainter. I got it mainly for Gold Armour (Dante, Tycho, Sang Guard, Sanguinor etc) But I tried it out on Captain Aphael here to see if it would work to a level I was happy with. I haven't used it on previous work (apart from Dante). I am putting a pic for comparison. I painted him the same method as before except I used the Quickshade instead of my regular shading. I feel its come out reasonably well with little noticable difference. It does throw some other problems into the mix though. So, I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00097.jpg C&C welcome as always. ancient god
Good work on Aphael, I like the conversion. And making these guys modular is always a good idea. Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Thank you thank you :) Comments are dwindling. I must be loosing my touch  Oh well. See if this grabs anyones attention :) Captain Eramus Tycho. I didn't want to do two separate models to represent his DC and Non DC sides. So instead, I decided to split his colour scheme right down the middle. I doubt I'll be using him in game, but if I do, I'll just inform my opponent which rule set I'll be using. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00105.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00107.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00106.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00108.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00109.jpg Hope you'll enjoy :) C&C welcome and appreciated as usual :) CTK Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191747-ctks-blood-angels/page/2/#findComment-2395295 Share on other sites

Cain Tiberius Kondrad
wow thats actually a really neat-o idea, consider it ninja'd Be my guest bud. :tu: I do take inspiration for about 25-30% of my work from other people on here. I'd give credit where its due. But to be honest, I can never remember whom I get which ideas from  So those of you who have given my inspiration, I thank you all :) Things I have copied so far include the Tactical Squad Ammo Bearers and the Curb Stomp Marine. Everything else so far is all my own ideas, although I am aware others have had similar thoughts. I spy with my little eye, some Warmachine bases :P seriously though your models are amazing, i regard you and everyone else who can actually paint with a mixture of awe and hate *grrrrr* anyway, you do some really awesome conversions, wow DM Actually there are 2 lots of bases. The Chaplin, Commander Dante, Captain Tycho and Captain Aphael are all mounted on bases supplied by http://www.microartstudio.com/. The Tactical Squad and the Space Hulk Terminator squad are mounted on Home made bases that I made myself. I am currently in the process of building the second Terminator Squad from Space Hulk which will also be on home made bases. While I am making these bases, I am taking pic's for a walk through on how to make them yourself ;) Also, thank you for your comments on my work. Just a word of encouragement though Darius. I saw that you are 14 from your profile, which incidently was about the age I started painting at. And at that age I was really really really bad at painting an building. Something one of my friends took great pleasure in reminding me of. But I didn't give up. All it takes is time, patience and little bit of thought about what you are trying to do, and you will find in time people will be giving you the same compliment about your own work :) CTK Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191747-ctks-blood-angels/page/2/#findComment-2419255 Share on other sites

Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Greetings folks. Been a while since I have posted any new stuff. Real life been pretty busy recently. But here is my latest. I completed the second squad from Space Hulk....kinda. As I am building them primarily for 40K, and not Space Hulk, I couldn't leave Gidion and his Hammer and Shield as squad sergeant. So I have replaced him with Forge Worlds Commander Cullen figure with a few appropriately added Blood Angel pieces. Do not fear! Gidion along with Claudio will feature in a 3rd squad with 3 suitable conversions at a later date. Brother Noctis. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00292.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00295.jpg Brother Omnio. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00296.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00297.jpg Replacement squad leader, Brother Sergeant Nathanael. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00299.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00300.jpg Brother Leon. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00301.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00302.jpg Brother Scipio. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00303.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00305.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00306.jpg And the whole Squad. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00307.jpg I have also completed the Space Hulk Librarian. Because Calistarius and Mephiston are said to be one and the same, I chose to name him something different. Being a Babylon 5 fan, I named him Bester after the powerful Psy Cop from the series. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00311.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00313.jpg Also, finally, for this post. I built the first Furioso for this project. No name for it yet. Also it should be noted that I intend to replace the regular power fist for the bigger Fist from the Ironclad box when I can afford a second. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00315.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00316.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00318.jpg This is my take on the Graple. Made a external motor mount using the back of the search light from various Vehicle kits. The harpon is the head of HK Missile from the Ironclad kit (No surprise there). And the wire is simply Guitar Wire. I cut the wire right at the eye where it has the nice twist/wind to it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00317.jpg I magnetised the Storm Bolter and heavy Flamer so I can switch them out as I chose. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00319.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00320.jpg Hope everyone enjoys :) C&C welcome as always. Isiah
Lovely models there. The SH termies and Librarian are stunning as you've done them – the assault cannon guy Leon looks particularly brutal. Nice wear and tear on the Dready. All your models are very characterful and nicely animated. ...And Scipio – leaving no stone unturned in the service of the Emperor eh? Great stuff. Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Hey folks. Thank you for your kind words. They are very much appreciated :) Just thought I'd share a little something I am working on with you. Its about 85% to 90% built now. Basically just going around with modeling clay filling holes, gaps etc and generally cleaning it up before painting. I'm going to post a lot more pics from multiple angles and close ups once it is fully finished, but for now just a teaser. I present my (1st) Blood Angels Storm Raven. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00370.jpg Enjoy  CTK Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191747-ctks-blood-angels/page/2/#findComment-2475933 Share on other sites

garfey
Wow, what a great log! You have done some amazing conversions there, not to mention some mega painting too. I've just started my BA with Astorath and a Drop Pod and was about to move onto a Dante conversion as well as a few others...you've inspired me loads... Now get on with painting that Storm Raven...and don't forget to tell us how you made it too  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191747-ctks-blood-angels/page/2/#findComment-2483508 Share on other sites
Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Thank you for the kind words garfey :) I am glad I have been able to give you some inspiration mate. I am looking forward to see your work :P Anywho, I have completed the Stormraven kinda... I'm not one to complain, but this model has been a head ache from start to finish, lol. First I'll show you the pics. Then after a little discription of what I used or did, and also what I am or are not, happy with. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00411.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00414.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00415.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00413.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00418.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC00416.jpg Okays. The original model/toy was the Hunter Killer ship from Terminator 4: Terminator Salvation. I didn't cut much away apart from a hole in the top for the ammo feeds from the top turret wouldn't snag when you rotated it. I used a SM Drop Pod for a lot of the model. The rear door of the model is made from 2 DP doors/ramps, the reaised body over the top is made with another 2 DP doors, 1 laid forward, 1 back and they were connected with the Razorback top hatch (which I had in my bits box) Also the front assault ramp is made from the lower wider part of the last DP door. The 4 wing sections (2 larger ones going strait back, and the 2 smaller ones angled down) are made from 2 of the wings/struts from the DP as well. The heavy bolters are fairly easy to identify. The 3 landings struts... The front landing strut is from the sensor piece that hangs down from a Landspeeder, turned upside down with a plasticard foot stuck on. The upper part of the 2 rear landing struts are made from half of the Ironclad siege drill (also in my bits box) with part of the SM harnes from the DP again. This was done on both sides with plasticard used for the feet again. I used the tail end of the landspeeder for the extra booster rockets as you can see. Also used the antena from the landspeeder on top. The radar/satelite mount at the front is the crane house from the vindicator model. (also in my bits box) I added the engine cowl piece to the existing engines, as you only get 1 with the DP kit, I made a GS mold and fabricated a second one. After adding the DP hull section at the back, and the door at the front, I progressively build up and filled in the remaining gaps with plasticard and modeling putty. The missile pods I made from plasticard and the missile heads are the Drill bits from the Ironclad set. I also made another hatch using spare Rhino top hatch on the underside, but I seem to have forgotted to take a pic of that. (Will try and add it later). Ok, my own self critisism now.... Some of the modeling work I feel I didn't do well enough. Lots of uneven serfaces, mis cut angles etc etc. (Modeling putting extremely dificult to trim in such tight spaces) Also I suffer from 'rub' which I can normally limit when painting much smaller items. But it was near impossible on this model. What I find particularly annoying was my nice crisp nmm metal work, and gray highlights at the edges of the black turning pink... even after letting it all dry for over a day, and also varnishing between colours... Anywho. not excusing myself. But as I was getting very frustraited I resorted to rushing the detail which can be seen under close examination, and I missed out completely the weathering/wear and tear I was going to add. I may go back and re work it later down the line, when I am not so annoyed at myself. Anywho. C&C welcome as always and I hope you guys enjoy it. Shaun Carlin
I like your unique take on the Stormraven alot of people have just mashed a land raider and a Valkerye kit together (not that theres anything wrong with that) but its like they all had the same idea, and altho thats how I would imagine it to look like I do like the interesting look of yours, It looks like the drop ship from aliens or the pelcan from halo. Great work and good job to re-imagine what its like, however It doesnt seam like an imperial vehicle its more like a tau thing. 2500kgm3
I think Bester's gloves (or gauntlets, in this case) should be black, shouln't they? I think it is great you named your librarian after that character, but don't trust him! he might be allied with the tyranids in secret... I think your miniatures are incredible. My only crtiticysm would be I find he bases a bit overdone. I tend to dislike when the basing material goes that much beyond the base limits. And I loved your stormraven. One of my main problems with scratchbulidling or kitbashing is making sure you can reproduce the result, since I like coherency among my vehicles (no drastic vehicle pattern changes, for instance). But I am glad to see you have more of these toys. I would be awed at the sight of an army with several of these. Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Thank you for your kind coment guys :P I'd lost a bit of confidence in postin here recently. Most admit, your coment about Bester made me fall about laughing 2500kgm3. You are right, I wouldn't trust him either now, lol. I'll look into the gloves when I have a bit of time too, lol. There will be some more coming in a while. Not sure how long. Getting wed in 7 weeks, so my build/paint time is somewhat reduced right now. And yes, I do have a second Terminator HK for another Stormraven. Going to build it slightly different in order to hopefully make the build easier. But it will still be identifyable as the same vehicle. Thank you again folks.
