[April 29th, 2010] work at my sternguard has started (post #74)

[May 12th, 2010] I decided to name my chapter "knights of icarus/ the icarus crusade", their symbol is a white sword on orange ground. At the moment i am working at 4 razorbacks at once - i decided to do the sternguard later, sorry guys, i hope you understand my decision. i want to do the essentials first!

at the moment i am working at:

4 razorbacks

these things will be done in future:

landraider crusader

1 droppod

2+ landspeeder

terminators

2-3 tactical squads

The orange and white works realy well together. Did did you do a brown wash over it to pickup the creases? A full squad done that way will look great. Though I have to ask if you have given any thought to how you are going to do the Company colour?

i used a white spray to do the first foundation

after it i painted orange parts with macharius solar orange

then badab black over the whole miniature, but

then i had to repair the orange and nearly almost painted the whole miniature again

with this orange, leaving the darkened orange in lower areas..

white was fixed with several layers of brigth grey and white.

i think next time i will not use badab black and paint shadows and highlights

the old way, maybe the orange "shines" more then..

edit:

the "dark orange" at the trim of the shoulderpads is mixed macharius solar orange and calthan brown about 1:1

Looks like we have one more for the Cult of Orange.

I like the choice of the blue for the eye visors. Have you thought about building the white up from a blue or using a blue glaze to shade it??

@ sniperhavens: thank you! i have no chaptername yet, but i think it will be anything with "swords" or "knights", because

they will get a sword as chaptersymbol

@ cardinal virtue: i think i will try black weapons soon, but the other white stuff will also be white in future (knee, head, shoulder)

@ brother atrox: yes orange rocks :-), i hope to see your chapter soon

@ kurgan: oh i really feel honoured to join cult of orange! i will tell you my chapters name, when i found one

@ all: your suggestions for a chaptername are welcome!

some ideas: magma, phoenix, ember, knights of.., blades of..

The Order of Safety Vestments

The Warning Cones

Cal-Trans Warriors Union

Bio-Hazard Responce Team 1

Off the top of my head...

But really, The painting is insane good. Orange is so hard to paint smooth, its like yellow. Anyway great paint job, and GL on the Name. I'm with the guy who says all he see's is Home Depote, but who cares there are not my marines! Great work, can't wait to see more...

I was thinking, wouldn't you get closer to the orange in the pic if you get the marine done all in yellow then do thin multiple washes of blazing orange till it gets to the vibrant orange you may be aiming for?

As for names I would suggest

-Sons of Sol

-Dawn Wardens

That's all the gold i can give you
