Call of the Imperium Mk IV

Looking good so far Cheesychaoslord - the blood marks on his helm, is that a battle wound, or are you using that as a Mark of the Wulfen?

Some really nice stuff coming together here guys!

Here are my first two submissions, a Rhino and a Vindicator. Apologies for the lack of WIP pics, I blitzed these guys up in the one day I had free between classes and the start of finals.

My first May Update.

Trying to see if i can't get as much as i can finished before the end of next week because of a much more hectic school schedule with two classes instead of one. But got other projects tossed in this week plus this classes final art piece. So heres my first update for the month, i will update again when i get this unit finished or towards the end of the month..which ever happens first.

Sorry the pics were taken at night and thats typically a pretty bright and good picture for me. However i was taking the pics mostly to get an update on here, more than trying to take exceptional quality pics. Afterall they are still work in progress and no where near finish.

But if you want have a thread going in the blood angels section. I started a WIP thread in the works in progress section but decided to just continue it in the blood angels section instead, as its my army blog and i didn't want to keep updating several threads. So for the CoI stuff i decided to just put my updates in this thread directly.

Anyways, heres a link to my album in photobucket.

If your looking for brighter pics of the models painted with the color scheme you could probably look there. But the pics i took are pretty much some of the better pics i have taken recently...it just was taken at night instead of during the day so they might have seemed darker overall. I promise i will take some much better pics when i can get by a gaming store with much better lighting. Its hard to get awesome pictures at my house what with it being an old victorian house, and most of the light fixtures are chandeliers so most of my lighting comes from trying to get the brightest bulb i can in those old fixtures, and my desklamp and camera flash.

MAY - UPDATE 2

Paint in Progress pictures of my Vanguard Veterans, just in case I don't get chance to update again this week:

Currently working on getting the Dreadnought ready, as the terminators are almost ready for basing. I want to get the Dreadie done as I am going to go all out on the base. Hopefully it'll look awesome.

Here's hoping!

Thats part of the inititiation ceremony in my diy chapter. On their first kill,Blood Claws must dip their fingers in th blood and mark their face.

This mark stays on their face on helmet.

Some really nice stuff being churned out here guys!

@Alexander Fogh Pedersen:- That banner looks badass mate, and I still love the way that purple goes with the other colours. With regards to the bases, have you done those yourself, or are they resin bases?

Thanks bro!

All bases except for the Ven dreads are home-made, the ven dread is a resin base a friend of mine made a little more than a year back.

The banner has since gotten some more colors on it :D

<_< May Update I -_-

After some much appreciated discussion with several brothers in my WIP thread, I decided that my Wolf Lord is in fact a senior Iron Priest. I would use him as a Wolf Lord but he would led a more unusual flavour to the bckground of my army. In essence he is charged with seeking out and returning lost artifacts of significance or interest to the Space Wolves. Protected by a hand picked army of bodyguards he pursues rumours and lost archaotech while at the same time smiting the foes of Russ and the Emperor (more often than not one and the same :))

Without boring you further here are photos of him as he stands now, pretty much ready for undercoating:

http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/Space%20Wolves%20Army/DSCF8066.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/Space%20Wolves%20Army/DSCF8065.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/Space%20Wolves%20Army/DSCF8067.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/Space%20Wolves%20Army/DSCF8068.jpg

I just need to fill the gap between his shoulder and storm bolter arm and decide whether to try and sculpt a pelt for his right shoulder pad...

@ Alexander Fogh Pedersen: really loving the design of that banner the colours work really well and the freehand is great :)

@ Hubernator: That dread of yours is coming along nicely. Meant to say before, I really like the triumphant pose you've given him, makes it a more epic conversion than if he was just stood on the base.

@ cheeseychaoslord: that's a pretty fine looking Blood Claw you've got there, if I may say though I think the silver metallic areas could benefit from a wash of Badab Black just to add a little definition...

cheers

James

May Update#1
Terminator Bases, and Legs

Here are the bases for my Terminators.

gallery_53315_4705_4787.jpg
gallery_53315_4705_2946.jpggallery_53315_4705_21136.jpg
I was hoping to get a feeling of movement by gradually shading the front lighter then the back, but I should have been keeping better notes from my previous set of terminator bases, because I didn't realize until it was too late that I shouldn't have been using Space Wolf Grey over the shadow gray on the bases (Another reason for the Dark Angels to dislike Space Wolves).

I'm not sure if I'm going to go back and redo the plasticard squares on the bases. even though they didn't turn out how I was planning on them to, they still look ok.

As far as the terminator legs are concerned, I haven't done much on them. All I did was put on a layer of Codex Grey/Chaos Black (50/50) on the parts that are supposed to be black, and then add in a wash of Babob Black.

gallery_53315_4705_6473.jpggallery_53315_4705_5172.jpg

gallery_53315_4705_1936.jpggallery_53315_4705_1475.jpg

I have to say that I'm really impressed with Citadel's new washes. This was the first time that I had used them and I was blown away. Not only did the wash not run where you didn't want it to go, but it also shaded the area perfectly. I had read people praising the use of the new Citadel washes. Previously I had just used the old/old/old Citadel black wash (the thinner plastic vials with the blue caps), but after using the new wash, now I'm also one of the people praising the new washes.

the next time I'm able to work on the legs, I'll be going over the models with the 50/50 paint I had first used, and then painting up the green shins and left knee, as well as the white right knee.

We'll see how things look then.

My first post (EMperors Immortals)

My camera has gone missing, so its text only im afraid.

The furioso is getting started now, the second power fist is ready to go on the model and my captain is about to get prepped and undercoated.

I inhereted a 10 man assault squad that im going to clean up and get done for the challenge.

Im also hoping to get a Astartes background up soon for some C&C - which ill be interested in hearing considering how old my DIY actually is.

Thanks :D I did want a flavoured base and it looks great IRL. I did have some "fun" with the legs; turned out I'd glued a plate wrong which forced him to lean forwards B) Had to pull the dread off the feet, reglue the plate, then reglue the dread into the feet. Not something I wanted to do, but it's done so, jsut the arms and a banner left now.

What a shame, Battle-Brother. I hope your hand recovers soon!

As for my update, I have begun magnetizing a dread and a landspeeder. With luck, I'll throw in a second speeder and a pair of rhinos too.
