You sir have too much talent. You seem to have a great work ethic when it comes to your minis. What amazes me most about your work is the speed with which you complete it. Don't get me wrong, your painting is of a very high level, but it is how fast you completed this Lamenters army, with that high of a standard of detail, that is truly amazing.

The squad markings on your tanks / squads are great. But Assault Squad Kreios has the blue knee pads with blood drop, and the razorback only has a blood drop... is that intentional? =) Or is my monitor playing tricks on me, and the knee pads are actually black.

These images might be quite large, so I apologize.

The army is essentially completed, minus the Dreadnought Drop Pod (which still requires some battle damage and highlights).

Hey DV8,

How did you make the claws? Been wanting make a Bjorn the Fell Handed version of the contemptor and those claws would be perfect for it.

Thanks

Ricky

I make this official...I still hate you

Your Wolves amazed me with how good they looked.

Your Lamenters...wow...just wow. The subtlety of the markings is superb. The more I look at the pics, the more I spot. There's not much I can say which others haven't already. Hands down the best army I've ever seen.

What happened to all these pics?

This will be an image intensive post so bear with me.

Summation: on March 4, 2011, with much panic and apprehension did I begin to undertake my vow for the Librarium Painting Challenge. Gripped by zealous fervor and the desire to uphold the reputation and honor of myself and the Vlka Fenryka did I surge forth, brushes and paint flying to and fro as I attacked my models with gusto, a curse and an oath on my lips.

On March 30, 2011 did I complete my vows. May Russ and the AllFather be pleased!

Whoop I haven't moved!

What happened was, because of budgetary reasons (and totally left field out of the blue), I was laid off from my previous position as a Concept Artist at Ganz in November of last year. So while finishing my Lamenters, I frantically reorganized/"redesigned" my website to start the tedious task of job hunting again. In the process of this I also reorganized the file structure of my website on the back end, sorting everything into proper folders and keeping my files neatly organized. This does mean that probably all of the photo links in this log are broken.

If there's something you really want to find, I can dig it up and provide images/links, but really everything should be up on my website (as Ludovic so graciously mentioned).

In so far as what I've been up to I lucked out, really, and was called up by the Creative Director at AGS for a position I'd never applied for, and he offered me an interview! A few weeks later I was hired as a Game Designer (where I am currently working).

As for projects, I've just been riding the Fantasy wave with my Vampire Counts, and haven't really done much in the way of 40k work. With that said, the past week I've been painting up a small force of Death Guard (1000 points, using Codex: Chaos Space Marines) for the Adepticon Team Tournament this coming weekend.

So I should be able to post some pictures of that if not this week, by next week for sure (since I'll be leaving town Thursday).

As for projected plans? Who knows. My friend and I are planning a grudge-match "mega" battle of about 5000 points per person sometime mid/late June, so I'll need to paint up about 20 or so models for that to add to my Space Wolves. I also want to expand my Space Wolves, adding a few more Grey Hunter squads and Rhinos (as I currently only have 40 and 3 of them respectively) so that'll give me more flexibility in writing lists. The release of 6th Edition will change/alter/adjust that plan so it's tentative really at best.

I will also be attending (probably) Conquest 40k Toronto in June, and Warmasters 40k Kitchener in August/September. Exact army/armies I'll be fielding for the latter are up in the wind, but probably Space Wolves. I love the grey!

*EDIT*

Whoop people had questions and opinions! Haha

All I can say, is you've churned out another masterpiece army. Well done! :D

Thanks man! Your Bjorn the Fell Handed (Silver, congratulations once again!) really makes me want to paint up a Dreadnought (haven't actually painted one in....10 years now? Contemptor's aside) to add to my Space Wolves. I'd never use it, but it'd be an amazingly fun project.

edit - you must be fed up of painting check markings now.....!

Check marks are easy. Tedious, but easy. What I'm really sick of painting are the stupid Badab campaign badges on the sides of all the tanks, the Assault Squad crossed swords markings, and freehanding all those damned '5s' on the sides of the tanks!

Your work never ceases to amaze me. I really like the blue armor on the librarian. Would you mind giving us the recipe for that sublime blue?

I could be wrong, but I swear it was Trollblood with a touch of Scorched Brown and Iyanden Darksun, highlighted by adding Menoth White Base and then Skull White (applied with an airbrush, following the same rust technique as the rest of the army).

The squad markings on your tanks / squads are great. But Assault Squad Kreios has the blue knee pads with blood drop, and the razorback only has a blood drop... is that intentional? =) Or is my monitor playing tricks on me, and the knee pads are actually black.

It's your monitor. It's pure codex markings, so Squad I has a black field with white skull, Squad II has a blue field with white skull, Squad III has a yellow field with red blood drop, and Squad IV has a black field with a red blood drop. Squad V (if I add one) would have a black field with white 'X', and Squad VI would have a blue field with white 'X'. (I have the last 2 assault squads with Twin-Las Razorbacks, but I'm almost never going to use them and I'm tempted to paint the Assault Squads as Death Company for fun, and repurpose the Razorbacks for my Space Wolves, which is my primary army).

How did you make the claws? Been wanting make a Bjorn the Fell Handed version of the contemptor and those claws would be perfect for it.
are they the blood talons from the plastic kit?

The base of the fingers (which attach to the fist) are from the Contemptor kit. The finger "tips" are indeed the Blood Talons from the Furioso plastic kit. Just cut both in half, join together. I recommend pinning them to avoid breakage, and there is some GS work to smooth the join. Very easy conversion though...

And I shall dub thee Chyron Scissorhands, trimmer of hedges and keeper of grounds!
