Neonknight
Hi, I'm just wondering why the Emperor himself has no name. How did the primarchs call him? Daddy? Uncle? Or is this just another mystery? Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
Hi, I'm just wondering why the Emperor himself has no name. How did the primarchs call him? Daddy? Uncle? Or is this just another mystery? The primarchs call him Father... rumors call him Bob. there is no official answer. jeffersonian000
It has been alluded to that the Emperor may have been the knight Sir George Anici, aka St. George the Dragon Slayer. Monstra Sumus
And a million other figures throughout Terra's history, it states in one of the books that the Emperor was many important figureheads and advisors throughout time. What ever name he has gone by, he is The Emperor. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200736-name-of-the-emperor/#findComment-2391430 Share on other sites
Pcm979
A Thousand Sons p. 440 He was the Emperor, and though many in this chamber had known him for the spans of many lives, none knew him as anything else. No other title, no possible name, could ever do justice to such a luminous individual. slaíne
Actually back in the day GW made reference that the Emperor was jesus, they got into a bit of trouble with this and had to change the original story somewhat. I read into this after it being mentioned to me by my friend who is a manager at one of the stores in the UK. This was back when the warhammer world was in the eye of terror and the meteor to which sigmar travelled on was rumoured to be the secret primarch in a drop pod. Yes i have been playing for that long.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200736-name-of-the-emperor/#findComment-2391947 Share on other sites
EPK
Actually back in the day GW made reference that the Emperor was jesus Well, that would still fit in with the storyline that he has been many important Terran figures throughout history. I believe certain story lines have him predating Jesus - and even predating Chaos. His birth is now noted as being the eight millennium BC and in Central Anatolia (though I don't see a source for that on lexicanum). Neonknight
Personally I would get pissed off to be called all day "Emperor". Even I have a name. And that thing with Jesus makes no sense, because there is no "God" in Warhammer 40k. The "old ones" created everything I think. And how do you stop a horde of fanatics assaulting you and yelling "In the Name of the Emperor!"?? Just ask: "Which name? He has none!" :D (Famous last words) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200736-name-of-the-emperor/#findComment-2392531 Share on other sites
VulkansFury
Well He signs His name "I" like the inquisitorial I. Artein
It was said that He was important spiritual and military leaders from ancient Terra. Jesus, Alexander the Great, Caesar, Napoleon, Hitler, etc. I know putting Jesus and Hitler in one list is kinda bad.... but it was something like that. Viray
Wasn't there other fluff regarding the origins of the Emperor? I seem to recall, though I, of course, have terrible memory, that the stories regarding his birth in 8,000 BC was more of an alternative theory amidst the fluff. I mean, if that 8,000 BC thing now is considered canon, then Warhammer 40k just got a whole lot more ridiculous for me (and that is saying something considering the explanation of the Ork's technology). lee265
Actually doesnt it say he walked among humans for 40 thousand years as far as his age goe he would have to have been born roughly 10,000 BC for that to be true as he has sat for 10 thousand years. Also I always assumed his name was Bob. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200736-name-of-the-emperor/#findComment-2392779 Share on other sites
Brother Evar
As far as the Emperor is concerened that he has always been among us I like to think in his down time/ R&R he is like a janitor/ maintenence guy like Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty. -_- :D His name- Dan. Dan the man. Gunhead
The Anatolia thing is from Horus Rising p.354, but I don't have a source on the 8,000BC thing. The Anatolia reference has been around since at least 2nd Ed - it's in one of the main 2nd ed box set books, iirc. On another note - one of his name's is George, and I'm not :cussting you - the story of him defeating and imprisoning the Void Dragon is mentioned in Mechanicum and is noted as being the factual story that became St George and the Dragon.
