Name of the Emperor

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm just wondering why the Emperor himself has no name. How did the primarchs call him? Daddy? Uncle?

Or is this just another mystery?

The primarchs call him Father...

rumors call him Bob.

there is no official answer.

WLK

Actually back in the day GW made reference that the Emperor was jesus, they got into a bit of trouble with this and had to change the original story somewhat. I read into this after it being mentioned to me by my friend who is a manager at one of the stores in the UK. This was back when the warhammer world was in the eye of terror and the meteor to which sigmar travelled on was rumoured to be the secret primarch in a drop pod. Yes i have been playing for that long....

Well, that would still fit in with the storyline that he has been many important Terran figures throughout history. I believe certain story lines have him predating Jesus - and even predating Chaos.

His birth is now noted as being the eight millennium BC and in Central Anatolia (though I don't see a source for that on lexicanum).

Personally I would get pissed off to be called all day "Emperor". Even I have a name.

And that thing with Jesus makes no sense, because there is no "God" in Warhammer 40k. The "old ones" created everything I think.

And how do you stop a horde of fanatics assaulting you and yelling "In the Name of the Emperor!"??

Just ask: "Which name? He has none!" :D (Famous last words)

Wasn't there other fluff regarding the origins of the Emperor? I seem to recall, though I, of course, have terrible memory, that the stories regarding his birth in 8,000 BC was more of an alternative theory amidst the fluff. I mean, if that 8,000 BC thing now is considered canon, then Warhammer 40k just got a whole lot more ridiculous for me (and that is saying something considering the explanation of the Ork's technology).

As far as the Emperor is concerened that he has always been among us I like to think in his down time/ R&R he is like a janitor/ maintenence guy like Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty. -_- :D

His name- Dan. Dan the man. Hence all the sensi everywhere around the galaxy. ;)

The Anatolia thing is from Horus Rising p.354, but I don't have a source on the 8,000BC thing.

The Anatolia reference has been around since at least 2nd Ed - it's in one of the main 2nd ed box set books, iirc.

On another note - one of his name's is George, and I'm not :cussting you - the story of him defeating and imprisoning the Void Dragon is mentioned in Mechanicum and is noted as being the factual story that became St George and the Dragon.
