Dont you hate it when...

Recommended Posts

You go to paint up some of your miniatures and you dont have a paint you want to use? A couple of nights ago i wanted to put some hazard stripes on an iron warrior and i went looking for my yellow paint, i found the pot, but it was empty, i was like ARGH!!!!! Have you ever had something extremely annoying crop up? This can be related to painting, modeling or gaming.

Have you ever had something extremely annoying crop up?

The fact that GW doesn't make a paint colour for Sa'cea Tau, and you have to mix it by had and try to get the same colour every time? I'd say that classes as frustrating. The same goes for other armies without a specific paint colour.

Shadow Grey, Space Wolves Grey, Fiery Orange. What color are you missing? ;) Anyway, when painting an army with nonstandard paint scheme it's helpful to mix your own paint pots. Let's say, you want an intermediate highlight between Shadow Grey and Space Wolves Grey just buy a pot of each and either fill a an empty pot with your mix or use the pots you just bought with your colors. Great for 1:1 mixes as you get two new pots of your own mix. Easy way to get consistent colors and speed up your process.

When you mix up too much green stuff and it has to go to waste. That's quite annoying for me :cuss

I always try to think of something to do with the leftovers, before I start sculpting. Sometimes I just work on two conversions at the same time, add details to rank and file models or sculpt hands, skulls, branches or anything else you can think of on a spare base for later use. It's nice how "random" details sometime help to add character to the minis. And I have found that the more I work with it, the better I get with estimating how much I'll have to use.

The most annoying things for me are dried paint, dried glue and dropped bits. I always drop bits when I assemble minis. :P

Its having that happen going to the store, and thinking you got the right color. Then you get home and discover you accidentally got the one two shades off and you go back to find out they don't have the right one. That and I'll go for dropping stuff. My apartment is almost all carpeting and when stuff drops its hard to find in the berber.

I forgot my favorite that happens all the time to me....

I sit down to work for the first time in a week or two to discover I'm out of glue and its too late to get some. Its annoying when im in the mood to build a vindicator and I can't because I'm out of glue.

i hate it when i really want to paint my models and can't for one of 2 reasons:

1) I don't want to ruin them (i am a terrible painter)

2) i have other work to do, or no where to do it

my other thing i hate is when the so called best and over-powered character in the game (Mephiston) can't even beat the Avatar in Close Combat. I MEAN WHAT IT UP WITH THAT!

well that me :cuss

Athiair :cuss

Grey carpets are the bane of my life. In my parents previous house, and the house I am in at the moment, there are/were grey carpets. These carpets are a perfect colour match for GW's sprues. I don't know how many bits I lost on those carpets (and eventually up the hoover :P ).

In the house I am moving too next, I am going to put down dark coloured carpets so that the little grey bits of plastic show up :)

My personal worst? When you have finished painting that conversion and its been put in your case. You take it round your local store or friend's house. Hour's of careful work and painting, all down the drain as someone else pick's up your case and it hit's the floor with a deading thud.

Although the resultant silence and look of horror on the face of the person responsible is normally funny

I'm not missing any, It is annoying that it doesn't come as one colour

so i just pulled out one of my 2 freshly bought war walkers to put them together...and lo and behold, you can't double up on weapons. even though the painting tutorial on the GW website shows one with dual eldar missile launchers, like i want mine to have, there's only one of each weapon choice. the base is different too. they must have used a prototype in the guide -.-

i think i'll just pick a different 2nd weapon, and count them both as missile launchers most of the time....least it allows me to use a different weapon option if i ever decide too. i really wanted the double launcher look though :)

also; just glued up my first squad of pathfinders, and while trying to get off an annoying flash line that was connected from the rifle to his foot, the blasted rifle barrel broke off -.-

so yeah, there's my annoying contributions.

... When you don't have enough time or money to get to the point where the above things can go wrong?

This, and when you don't have a nearby gaming area that you can visit for more than a few minutes because... of various reasons.

I use 1ml plastic syringes to measure out paints. I cana chieve perfect reproductions of paint mixtures as long as i have the paint ratios required for the mix.

bad luck on the grey carpets man-that must be awful!

Its also biege depending on the lighting you have. My fiancee and I have almost lost quite a few parts to our kitchen carpeting. We just try to be careful when clipping. Also she's using WFB stuff so its a little more fiddly and less visible then are marine parts so we have to watch hers a little more.

when you start to work on a project and you need 5 of the same bit, but you only get 1 of them in a given box set.

Like the Iron Halo bit with the Skull at the base. You get one in the Terminator Box set. So do this unit of 5 Custodes I'm planning on doing I'd have to buy 5 $55 Terminator Box sets. Oh, and all the bitz ordering sites I've found seem to be out of the bit. Thats what I really hate.
