Building A Wargaming Table

Recommended Posts

Greetings all.

I just purchased my first home, and have a nice space in the basement (man cave) reserved for a wargaming table.

I'm looking for some advice for a little DIY project. Not a quick fix, but something durable that will last a few years.

- Proper tabletop dimensions to accommodate a variety of 40k/FB games

- Decent table height

- Materials required

- Maybe a lip around the edge for rolling dice

Thanks in advance for any / all help.

Congratulations!

Nineteen years ago, I built 3 - 4x6 tables that I have put together into a 12x6 (historical minis was my start).

plywood for top

2x2 for legs

1x4 to attach legs to and attach top to

Make a box out of the 1x4, screw plywood onto box. Attach legs with screws or nut/bolt so they can be removed when you want to move to a new house later in life... real simple. legs being 30" tall is the optimum height, generally.

The youtube link is basically what I was talking about. I'd use 1x4 to give the legs more support. If you use 3/4" plywood (more expensive) then you don't need the cross bracing.

Here's the ultimate game table if you want to go this far: http://www.geekchichq.com/Co_Store/The_Sho...The_Sultan.html

Holy :tu: !!

Such a table would only be utilised by the most decadent chaos players?
