It features a TON of armor, specifically Land Raiders and Battle Wagons converted Land Raiders. This is a 6 Land Raider list from what I like to call my 2k of stupid fun army. Its not a competative list, just a for fun one. My opponent knew about it in advance (more than a month in advance when I wrote it) and wanted to play against it. I reminded him a week in advance & he said he was waiting for me. Under the command of Captain Sendroth, Strike Force Blood Hammer had been given the task of disrupting the Orks main advance while their allies, the Imperial Fists and Salamanders, formed the counter-offensive. His Captain had assigned him a decapitation mission and Roivas had devised a plan that would require the assistance of other Chapters. To in addition, Scout Marines had been deployed to monitor for Big Mek Mor'steem, the logistical genius that was producing the massive quanities of Battle Wagons, Fightas and Fighta-Bommas that were giving Imperial forces so much trouble. Without the constant supply of these armored fighting vehicles, the otherwise prohibitive losses that the Imperial Guard, Navy & Adepta Sorotitas were inflicting would finally take its toll and clean up wouldn't even need the Adeptus Astartes. Roivas felt a tingling sensation deep in his bones. Roivas knew this feeling well, as always accompanied by a low hum that wasn't really there. Behind him Sargent Tallas entered the makeshift encampment and approached the Librarian. 'Brother Roivas,' started Tallas before the Librarian held up his hand. 'I know,' interrupted Roivas. 'Our allies have come and they bring the armored might of the Astartes.' The two armored giants strode forth to greet the arriving Imperial Fists and Salamander Marines. Each had sent the Blood Angels what they could spare from their armory but what they sent were their finest. The sons of Dorn had been able to detach three Land Raiders from their main line while the Salamanders had sent a single Land Raider Redeemer. 'Brother Tallas,' said Roivas. 'Contact the Thunderhawks. There are $740+ worth of vehicles on the board. Mission - Capture & Control Deployment - Dawn of War Turn 1 'We have confirmation!' Sarge Tallas shouted. 'Scouts have sited the target. Time to target is twelve minutes.' Roivas turned to the assembled Marine Sargents. 'We have our prey. Let us tear out his throat.' The senior Fists sargent, Sargent Jaeger nodded. 'The sons of Sanguinius and Vulkan fighting along side the sons of Dorn! The Mek Boss will never see another sun rise.' The Land Raiders had been loaded onto Thunderhawk Transporters in anticipation for the mission and the Marines were airborne and within minutes. Had the Armored Spearhead tried to reach the Mek's forces under their own power, their target would slip out of sight before any chance of intercept. Using the highly modified Thunderhawks travel time was a fraction and a mere sixteen minutes. At seventeen minutes six 72-ton behemoths began raining onto the battlefield. Single use retro rockets slowed the tanks to prevent structural damage, "slowing" the tanks to merely lethal speed. To Space Marines lethal was the norm. Anyone who rode a bullet fired from orbit into battle could survive such a fall with ease and in less than twenty minutes from the notification of target Land Raiders from Imperial Fists, Blood Angels and Salamanders Chapters were destroying Ork vehicles. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Batrep03.jpg Rolling thunder! We move to the rhythm of 6000 beats per minute. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Batrep05.jpg Foul Ork sorcery saves all but one of the Battle Wagons from the fury of the Emperor's Space Marines, leaving a band of Lootaz aimless for the moment. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Batrep07.jpg The same cannot be said for the ramshackle Ork Trukks. With one outright destroyed and the other immobilized and weapon less the foul xenos cower in their coffin. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Batrep06.jpg Kareen KABOOM! Where you going? No where. Turn 1 Summary Orks - all vehicles move on the board Marines - Land Raiders arrive on the board. Shooting occurs & a Battle Wagon & a Trukk are destroyed with the 2nd Trukk immobilized & weapon destroyed. Turn 2 The opening salvo hadn't gone as intended. An ork shield generator was deflecting the worst of their fire power. A pair of Trukks had been shattered easily by assault cannon fire but the four looming ork Battle Wagons had only suffered the loss of one of their number. Its occupants, a now dazed mob of ork Lootaz, were firing randomly, their markmanship failing to once hit Imperial armor. While the loss of one of the tanks was a boon it was time to change tactics. Roivas turned to the driver of the Blood Haze. 'Drive us closer Brother,' said Roivas. 'I wish to poke them with my lance.' The driver nodded and the tank shot forward, the engine whining as it strove to match the demand for increased speed. The enemy Wagons were directly in front of the tank. Four red tanks drove ever closer to each other, all the while lascannon fire failed to penetrate the energy field surrounding the ramshackle monstrosities. At ten meters from the rushing horde, the Blood Haze's driver turned to the right before reversing the left tread. Adamantium groaned as the tank slid sideways to a stop. Tallas hit the button to lower the main doors. Roivas walked out of the crimson tank into the settling dust. Raising his right hand, the Librarian whispered a word of power. Blood seeped out of the palm of his out stretched gauntlet, forming a small globe. Once it was the size of his fist the psychic construct darted forward, forming a meter long spear of blood. Sharper than any blade wielded by an mortal man, the spear smashed through the closest Battle wagon. Armor parted like paper but the lance failed to find any crucial defects and passed through. The second Battle Wagon wasn't so lucky. Neither was the third. A pair of explosions marked Roivas' success and the Librarian felt his shoulders sag from expended effort. The sounds of angry orks could be heard over the burning fires. With a conscious effort Roivas straightened himself then froze. In the distance Mek Boss Mor'steem was watching the fight. Behind him a ruined Trukk could be seen and a pair of grots were hastily trying to carry out the Mek's orders. Roivas keyed his personal vox. 'Sargent Jaeger. Target is to the rear of the enemy formation. Disengage and eliminate the target.' You sir have just earned your points! Turn 2 Summary Orks- The Wagons & foot orks continue forward while the rest cower in their Trukk. The Lootaz fire impotently, mainly just for show. Marines - Librarian Roivas gets out & Blood Lances the Orks, claiming 2 Battle Wagons. The Warboss fails his armor save for flying out of the exploding vehicle. The last of them had scarcely left the deck when the massive looted vehicle turned and raced off again. The vehicle had been a former Imperial Land Raider from what looked to be a Space Wolf detachment. On the front was an array of wicked looking set of ramrods. Too late Roivas shouted a warning to the Blood Haze. The world slows at the point of impact and he can see the metal deform then tear as the once mighty tank to rent in half. Sargent Tallas was dragging his men from the wreckage when Roivas felt his left shoulder pad torn from his armor. The Lootaz were firing with wild abandon now they had found a suitable target. Warning runes flashed for three of the stricken squad members. Whether they were dead or otherwise incapacitated wasn't important as either way they were out of the fight. Seeking to shield the squad, Roivas called forth another lance. His mind weakened from the strain of the first one, a warp creature smashed through his mental defenses and attacked the Librarian. Grunting from pain, Roivas slumped over, willing the creature out of his mind. When he finally regained his sense an ork mob was nearly on him and Squad Tallas. Gripping the handle of his force mace, Roivas called to his Battle-Brothers. 'By the blood of Sanguinius! The Implacable desperately guns down orks with its heavy bolter while its remaining lascannon sponson fires impotently against the still shielded Battle Wagon. Turn 3 Summary Orks - The last Battle Wagon drops off its squad then rams & destroys a Crusader. The mounted RAS loses 3 guys to Lootaz. A Waaaghh is called & the orks fleet into 2 Godhammers, destroying 1 & immobilizing the other. Marines - The Librarian fails a Ld test & loses a wound. The Squad Estaban attacks the squad of boyz. Squad Tallas & the Librarian attacks the Trukk orks but fail to wipe the Nob out. The Indefatigable makes like a bandit for the ork objective. Turn 4 Roivas stumbled. The warp spawn had wounded him more gravely than he had first thought. Though the initial mob had been easily dispatched by Squad Tallas and himself, the Nob remained and the Librarian was moving sluggishly. Amidst all this reports of the Imperial Fists Land Raider Irresistible had been reported lost and Squad Esteban surrounded. The Bloodstorm and Drake's Tongue were desperately trying to destroy the last Battle Wagon that was wreaking havoc on the Spearhead. The Green Tide was surrounding them and weighing them down. The Ork tried to swing at the azure Marine. Roivas was thrown to the ground. The last thing Roivas saw was Tallas fall as the Nob's pistol punched through his power armor. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Batrep18.jpg The Nobz advance is slowed as they maintain a close distance to the Warboss. Elsewhere the Librarian Rovias and Blood Angels Sargent Tallas fall to a very lucky Nob. Imperial Fists Squad Jaeger dismounts and tears through the Loota Orks like a hot wind. Turn 4 Summary Orks - Nobz move an inch. Boyz keep knocking on the Implacable. Nob wacks both the Sarge & Libby. The large boyz squad finally beats Squad Estaban. The last Trukk Boyz get out of their transport & advance. Ork Meks try to kill the Indefatigable but their guns overheat, killing both. Marines - Drake's Tongue moves up & dismounts its squad. It completely kills the Trukk Boyz & Squad Tu'shar shoots the Nob. The Bloodstorm shoots up the Boyz attacking the Implacable. The Indefatigable speeds around a ruin & shoots up the Lootaz. Squad Jaeger dismounts & kills the Lootaz in CC. Turn 5 The tide was turning. Roivas could hear reports from the other Marines in his helmet. The Drake's Tongue had burned away a significant portion of the enemy's forces while the Bloodstorm was scouring the xenos from the Implacable with Squad Kirov dismounting to fight an ork mob. He didn't know what had happened with Squad Jaeger but they were transmitting a success code, indicating they had reached their target. The remaining ork boyz assault the Bloodstorm in retaliation. No result. Boyz try attacking Bloodstorm. No effect. The remaining Boyz squad runs into the Implacable. No result. Marines - Squad Jaeger secures the ork objective. Bloodstorm reverses & erases the attacking Boyz. Drake's Tongue burns away the rest of the Nobz. Squad Kirov exits the Implacable & rolls up the last Boyz squad. The Indefatigable double lasers the Warboss to death. Epilogue Sargent Ellis helped Roivas to his feet. 'Enough resting Codicer. We're headed back to base.' 'How fares the battle?' asked the wounded Librarian. He removed his battle helm and inspected the damage. Ellis chuckled. 'Complete victory, Brother. Sargent Jaeger has disposed of the Mek Boss and we're gathering the geneseed from Tallas' squad while Tallas himself is as stubborn as you. Fortunately for the both of you Squad Tu'shar killed the greenskin about to finish the both of you. We'll get you to the Apothicaries soon enough.' 'And what of the blessed machines?' asked Roivas. Ellis' head turned ever so slightly, giving Roivas all he needed to know. 'The Blood Haze is beyond salvage but the Fists tell me the Irresistible and Implacable are repairable. Their third squad, Squad Esteban had no survivors but they were able to recover some geneseed.' Roivas nodded. 'A high price.' 'But one we pay gladly.' The two Blood Angels turned to face Sargent Kirov. The Imperial Fist Marine removed his helmet and continued. 'Sargent Jaeger found a map with marked ork factories. This victory allows us to destroy the enemy's entire infrastructure. Our fallen brothers bought us victory in full.' 'Excellent,' said Roivas. 'Perhaps we will meet again.' Kirov smiled. 'Librarian I am sure of it. Both of our Captains have agreed to help take down a separatist planet and even with the loss of two Land Raiders its acknowledged another Armored Spearhead would be ideal for breaking the stalemate.' Melta charges destroyed it in clean up. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Batrep31.jpg Final moments of Mek Boss Mor'steem Final Result I lost 1/3rd of my forces, including my HQ while the Ork player had a single, naked Trukk while holding both objectives. Honestly I thought I'd be seeing more stuff geared to killing my Raiders as I had told the Ork player of my list well in advance & reminded him a week before so he had time to plan. He told me his linchpin were the Trukks I took out 1st turn & his Wagons were merely secondary but hey that one did caused more stress than everything else combined. I think I'll be fielding this against one more person as I also told him a month ago as well & I think I'll be seeing a ton of ranged AT power (Guard player) so I think there'll be a 1 to 1 win loss ratio for the Land Raider list. Any other players will be also informed in advance i.e. if list is mentioned & someone wants to play I'll bring it the following week (6 Raiders are BULKY, no way I'm bringing them every week.) Well that's the report. Would've done this a LOT earlier but getting pics from my phone to my PC is a pain when its a handful & it was a nightmare getting 3 dozen pcs.
