Pig Of Sparta
Thanks guys, although the torso still has some work to be done to it. I painted the head today on my lunch hour so so far he's taken about 2 and a half hours to paint. The sculpting of the shoulders and stuff took around 6 hours I think. I'll be working on him some more tonight.... cheers James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/22/#findComment-2517742 Share on other sites
Lestat
Well my 48hr trial of XBox Live is over. While Reach still beckons to me I feel the need to hold a paint brush again so I'll be around a little bit more now. I had an idea the other day after a conversation with my brother, some input I gave Lestat a wee while ago on his jetbike and a couple of other things as well all coalesced into this: http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8953.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8954.jpg http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8952.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8951.jpg Basically I figure that the Lascannon is a precision weapon so it would make sense to be fired as one. Now I know that PA'd marines can lug them around like they weigh nothing, but PA can't make you shoot straight, so I figured it was about time we saw Lascannon being used as it is desribed.... He's perched on some blu-tac as I haven't made a base for him yet, but hopefully you'll agree that it's none too shabby for an afternoon's work (although I cheated slightly in that the torso and legs had already been made) James Thats looking like a pretty simple yet effective conversion James. Now if only I was going to be using Devastators in my BA's then I would borrow that idea. As for the jetbike - It's not been forgotten about, I'm just trying to get about 200 points of Death Company converted and painted. Thank the Emperor for Army Painter black basecoat! Alright, here is the first draft of what I hope will be the final design: I incorporated the Aquila design which everyone loved so much, with a shield (thus unifying both Warhammers), and then inscribing the shield with the Brotherhood motto and the IBoH symbols I liked from one of my previous designs. Then I put the scrolls at the top, and some purity seals (which are common in both Universes, at the bottom. Overall, I think it creates a nice balance. If you like it, I'll start work on a cleaner version. This is got to be the best one so far Normish. The Iron Halo on top is a nice touch - sort of gives the feeling that we are all veterans of the hobby. Pig Of Sparta
Cheers Lestat. Glad to hear the jetbike hasn't been abandoned it is off to a great start. The Lascannon marine just seemed to make sense and I thought it looked cool. Plus I've never actually seen a kneeling devastator with anything but a missile launcher before, I guess due to the limitations of the components in the kit, so it was also a kind of 'can I do it' idea as well :) James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/22/#findComment-2517766 Share on other sites

The Lascannon was a good idea, but it just didn't seem to fit in with the fluff. Besides, the power plant needed to fire the lascannon more than once would mean the 'bike would be the size of a razorback! I am going to be mounting twin-linked bolters on top of the prow as well - just for that extra killy power! Pig Of Sparta
A reaper autocannon sounds pretty sweet... No enemies of the Emperor are gonna get far with that chasing them . A few update photos this evening, (I apologise that the images aren't resized properly, but photobucket doesn't like my laptop) First up is the mkIII armoured Blood Angel; http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8976.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8977.jpg hopefully you can make out the dirt and grime that's now on his armour. Just need to do his insignia and he's all done. Second is the Daemon Prince bust I posted up this morning; http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8971.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8968.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8970.jpg His skin is pretty much done I think, so now all I need to do is figure out what colour to paint his loincloth and then get on with it. I've already settled on how I'm gonna do the rest of the details. @ KK, I love how you get that horizontal split so perfect . He's looking good mate. Yeah, if you're needing to glaze, I think you're safest doing it last. I'm not a painting expert though so I could be wrong, but it's what I'd do. cheers James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/22/#findComment-2518117 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
I love the blue on those coils. And the yellow on his knee pad. And the weathering on the metal is subtle and tasty as well. And the blue white hue on the daemon is awesome too. Master Chaplain Astador
Alright guys, I have a pretty big update. And two pictures added to my blog on IBH! :) First we'll start with my current painting model. I'm working on the old Abaddon, the Despoiler model. :D Red's and blacks done. Haven't decided on RMM or NMM. Your call! http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/c0b1ff86.jpg Better pic to follow shortly when more colours are on him. Next up is my conversion of Dante who is now only needing his backpack and wings! :) http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/19f8d17c.jpg Check the sweet axe! http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/c62ea8e7.jpg Then my two Dreadnoughts are finally finished! I got tired of waiting to find the arms, so I built gun arms to give me a bit more guns. http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/5bccc16b.jpg http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/f52ab11b.jpg http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/2878b42a.jpg http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/65e2b72d.jpg http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/095569c5.jpg Two other pics are on my blog at IBH check them out! Shortsonfire79
Yup, I'm just hanging around, waiting for people to update :) Lookin reaaalllyyy sharp Astador. Good choice in just painting :) I don't understand why they're partly red and black in some areas though. Awesome base though :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/22/#findComment-2518324 Share on other sites
Master Chaplain Astador
Base is only temporary! :D It's the same one I sculpted the Necromancer on and painted Lokhir on. I primed him white, and enjoy painting colours over white, so area's that were going to be black are the only parts painted with black, well a black-purple mix. And the red area's are painted blue up to yellow. I wanted a different kind of scheme for him than your standard all black and gold or all red. The brown is a basecoat for either nmm or rmm gold. :) If that's what you meant! lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/22/#findComment-2518329 Share on other sites
Dosjetka
You've really done that skin well PoS! And I really like the MkIII Blood Angel :) Astador: I'm looking forward to seeing your Dante finished! :D Nice looking Dreads too :) Ludovic EDIT: My WIP/complete models thread here. Master Chaplain Astador
Cheers mate! :) If I don't rush out of town tomorrow for a job I will have him finished, otherwise it'll be this weekend. KhornateKiller
@James your stuff is looking great, I love the BA guy !! @CMA I absolutly love your painting style they rock dude !!! Master Chaplain Astador
Alright! <_< NMM it is! Unfortunately that means you will all have to wait till this weekend for more unless you want more pics of me basecoating the NMM! But I'll do some Blood Angels today to break it up I guess! :D I need to do Dante's pack and maybe I'll try to do 5 or 4 Vanguard before I go to dinner tonight! Hyaenidae
Pig of Sparta, how did you do the white skin on your Daemon Prince? I've been trying to do the same shade for my unhelmed Night Lords, and I haven't been able to nail it. More accurately, they look like circus freaks. Thanks for the help, brother.
