Natanael
Do you play them as Loganwing or something? They look very nice. As Terminator says the paint is a little thick, but the conversions are great. Firenze
Aye, I know about the paint. The underlying parts were already painted (all my true scale are my old termies). I play them as normal marines actually. I might try Loganwing or Deathwing. The 1st 3 were for Inquisitor 28mm, but I got carried away :D The captain is my most favourite model Ive ever made. A DA captain with Lightning claws and Plasma Pistol, or Cato Sicarus/Khan counts as with the C:SM. The model is the same (to a degree) as the guy in my sig. Anyone like the Deathwatch? GooseDaMoose
I agree man that Cap'n is dope as shiiiizz! And I love all these names, Terrax, Artemis, and then, George. :P Love the Deathwatch marine, but isn't the inquisitor badge supposed to be on the other side? Btw I just updated my thread if anyone's interested! I'd love some C&C, thanks guys! Brother 'Ussell
Stuff's looking good guys! Firenze: coming along nicely, less is more in the paint department, I promise you if you get into the habit of it you'll never look back! Yay! finally I get to post some WIP! It's one of my Black Templar, first pass pretty much. Bit more work has been done to the chest piece but I need to get thet done before attaching the arms and gap filling etc. Let whatever C and C you have fly! I know it's early stages still but don't be shy. GooseDaMoose
Hey gang! That's a mighty fine Templar there Brother 'Ussel, though I'm not sure about the half red kneepad, it just doesn't fit the Black Templar colour scheme, I thought their armour was exclusively black and white? Anyway, if anyone's bothered, my Azrael is pretty much done, but I would like some C&C before I actually enter it into the competition. Any takers? P.S. Pegasus
Greetings and salutations brethren, loyalist and traitor alike! I've got here some pics of what I'm working on at the moment, from what will eventually (hopefully) be an 1800 pt army. C&C welcome and appreciated, just be nice :) The army's pretty much stock Black Legion, but their fluff is different, hence the red shoulder pads. Squad 1: BP & CCW's, one guy's missing because he hasn't got any arms and is just in basecoat, so not much to look at there... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/johnforster/squad1-01.jpg I've managed to somehow run out of bolter pistol arms AND any kind of silver paint :( so these guys will have the trim done possibly in boltgun or chainmail then highlighted with mithril silver. Squad 1's transport. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/johnforster/rhino02.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/johnforster/rhino01.jpg I had particular fun painting the trophy rack *evil chuckle*. I've still got to give it a wash to tone down the dead bloke's skin a bit. The SM helmet on the other side will be ultrasmurf, A: to give a nice contrast to the black/red scheme I've got going on and B: to p*** off any smurf players I come up against! :P Heavy Support choice 1: Predator http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/johnforster/pred02.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/johnforster/pred01.jpg TL LC all round for the ultimate in tank-busting goodness! ;) More to come later. My time's a bit short right now as my wife gave birth to our first son only 6 days ago, so I'm not getting much sleep and am splitting time between her, him and housework right now. But if I get a spare half hour here or there, I'll hopefully get something done. GooseDaMoose
Pegasus congratulations with the baby! ^_^ Are there any floods near you? Very well Nataneal my man: Brother-Captain Laerza + fluff http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/AzraelHobGob001.jpg http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/AzraelHobGob005.jpg http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/AzraelHobGob004.jpg And finally, little Weehawk the Short, his ever-loyal Hobgoblin squire: http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/AzraelHobGob003.jpg Although considered a proud and almost haughty man by many of his fellow brothers, none will deny Brother-Captain Laerza's ability in combat. An astounding tactical thinker and (partially self-proclaimed) strategic genius, Laerza has none the less had a hard time getting to his current position within the company, having a less-than-friendly rapport with most of the men under his command. He does, however, command a lot of respect, albeit begrudgingly, and his brilliance is widely recognised as being second-to-none but Batko within the company. His Hobgoblin servant is a curious thing indeed and the circumstances of their unlikely partnership is somewhat of a legend in the chapter. While fighting in the deep forests of Yael III against the brutish Orks, Laerza and his squad came upon a band of the strange creatures fighting off a large group of Orks and quickly took advantage of the confusion, decimating the Ork band. Weehawk was the only survivor and standing tall (well, not really) and proud, immediately swore a blood-oath to repay Laerza for his help. Impressed by his proud and honourable nature, and perhaps seeing a little of himself in the little critter, Laerza decided take him aboard. Weehawk has, however, resisted all attempts to modernise and insists on carrying his tribe's warspear and clothing, claiming that he needs to honour the death of his fellow tribesmen. So he follows Laerza, sworn by blood to follow him until the day he can give his life to save Laerza's (represents the 4+ Invulnerable save othewise afforded by the Lion Helm). Slyen
I honestly don't see the red, but that is probably my bad eyes getting to me again. ^^; In any case I think it could work for a Black Templar. After all, can't remember where exactly, but I was reading somewhere that they have markings for past crusades as well as memorable events. The demo marine there for instance had his right hand painted red for remembrance of a crusade that the Crimson Fists had aided in. As for the Black Legion... looks good though I am thinking I am beginning to develop a "black means unfinished" attitude. Just looks like the models need more. And for Goose, still loving your stuff... Not sure how I feel about a goblin for a watcher in the dark but it works. At least yours is not a green cyborg dog! xD Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/45/#findComment-2618790 Share on other sites
GooseDaMoose
@Pegasus Ah okay well thank the Zombie Lennon Emperor, probably tough to raise a child in large lake.. @Slyen It's on his left knee pad, the light is reflecting off it so you can't see it so well :P Anyway thank you, the goblin was pretty much all I had, and I found a reasonably solid fluff reason for him to be there so I figured he would do. Who has a green cyborg dog? This I'd like to see.. Shortsonfire79
'Ussel, that BT looks awesome. I assume the kneepad that I notice, and everyone is mentioning, is going to be a crusade badge? What crusade? :D Pegasus: The Black Legion look awesome. The two tanks are very sweet rides. Goose: Laerza is AWESOME!! Love the little tuft of hair. And the chainmail piece is very very well executed. Love the hook weapon too, reminds me of the Uruk-Hai (sp) from LoTR. And don't make fun of the short ;P Like Chewbacca's oath thing. ;) I like the fluff. :) I haven't posted much, or done much in any aspect the past few weeks... Though I did work on the Trogdread. Let me know what you think. Basically copied from my WIP thread. I still require shoulder joints, shinguards, and some stuff to cover up gaps and stuff. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1567.jpg And a size comparison. The green pad and the camera battery are for base height. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1568.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/45/#findComment-2618853 Share on other sites
Natanael
@ Goose: I am glad I didnt miss that one. Very nice work! How did you do the blade of his weapon? Overall very cool, and a good job. @ Shorts: Not so sure about the head, tough he looks bad ass. - Natanael Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/45/#findComment-2619015 Share on other sites
GooseDaMoose
Thanks guys! @Natanael His blade is made from plasticard with a hole puncher (to get the curve) and a crappy old craft knife :P @Shortsonfire79 Thanks man I'm pretty proud of his weapon! And good spot, Weehawk's oath was based on the Wookie life-debt thing ;) I gotta say I have to agree with Natanael about the head, I've never liked those on dreadnoughts but it's probably just a personal thing. On the other hand that head makes it look like he's bracing for fire which looks wicked cool. Might I suggest some banners to cover up the gap between his arms and torso to give it a bit more width in proportion to his big arms? Brother 'Ussell
Hey guys, Yeah the kneepad was something I was trying to incorporate some colour into my templar army. I decided to use different colours on the knees and greaves as squad markings, I have scouts that carry squad banners as well. Here's a shot of a completed squad member, I only have a couple of tactical marines and a few neophytes left to do in this squad @pegasus: looking good, what to you use as a base for your red? painting red over black can be tough, I've never used foundation paints but I hear good things about them. @gooseDaMoose: Captain is great, I like the pose. What chapter is he again? @shortsonfire: good looking Dred, what are your ideas for a base? GooseDaMoose
On the finished figure it doesn't actually look so bad I gotta say, it looks pretty knightly. And the wires on the side of his mask look really good. Little details like that add so much to the whole figure. Congrats on the good-looking marine! And Brother-Captain Laerza's from my Sons of Malice, 7th Company, "Batko's Blacks" :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/45/#findComment-2619074 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
Well then, I'm demanding more crusade icons out of you then! :) Thanks for the feedback guys.
