Great stuff there, Andy. I love the jump pack interior, very nice looking light-tricks, and the rest is also great. My only critizism (however that is spelled) is the gold. Give it a wash with ogryn flesh or something to deepen the shades and it will be much better, I think. It is too shiney now.

After a long day's work, this is what I managed to get done, Im not sure how to highlight the leather or what to do with the bone accents so I could use a few ideas and does anyone have ideas to improve the sword?

Not sure about the sword, looks good to me, but the shoulder pauldron with the skull avec iron halo seems a bit... flattened? I mean the left one, from his perspective (realized there were two shoulder pauldrons with skulls on them, haha).

In an effort to up my painting skills I've picked up a few AOBR-marines from my bitz box and startet one of them. The goal is to learn how to paint red well as well as possibly learning some NMM-gold. It might even end in a BA army with time :( Anyway - here are some pics. I did try to brighten them up with my photoprogram, but they might be a bit dark still. I went with this one thinking that he is standing under the sun at midday, so highlights should try to reflect that. And yeah, all comments are welcome. This is me trying to improve, so nitpicking and tips etc etc are very welcome. The armour is the only done thing, btw, including the chest eagle.

Edit - I see now that most of the highlights (four layers actually) are gone in the pics. Oh well, I need a better camera then my iPhone.

Hey guys

not too much to show, twisted my back a few days ago and haven't been able to sit for more than a couple of minutes at a time till this morning, anyways..

Stuff is looking awesome as usual brothers!

@Andy: looking good, the gold bionics actually seen not too bad, just darken then up a bit.

@terminatorinhell: from the picture it looks to me like you need to highlight the steel some on the sword and maybe darken it up a bit closer to the hilt.

@natanael: test marine looking really good, what colours have you used for your highlighting? it looks like maybe he could use some shading in places and a light wash perhaps.

@James: Thanks for the comment, I'm always trying to improve my blending technique. chaplain looks menacing and the conversion looks very promising indeed, can't wait to see more.

@thenormish: Thanks for the input, I'll mess around with a couple of things and see if anything strikes my fancy.

The highlighting goes mechrite for base, then 50/50 Mechrite/Blood Red, then pure Blood Red, then a little white and then Blazing orange. All with a Baal Red wash. Seems I have a hard time getting the blends any good, they always look very layered. I guess more water is the solution, so I'll try that on the next 9 guys for the squad. Thank GW for AOBR-marines to practice on =D

And thank you for the tips.

Ah... its good to see the IBH still in service. Khornate, your dude looks awesome. I love the purple bloodlets. Nat, I think your red is really nice. I know I wouldn't mind seeing a squad or two of those.

Almost 1234 posts.

Edit. Oh damn. I got the 1234th post. :)

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone ever goes on our Brotherhoodofhobbyists forum?

It's just, I've finally got the ball rolling on painting my Death Korps of Krieg Rough Rider and I was wondering if there'd be any point posting pictures up there to get some C&C? Maybe I should try another forum? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

So, has anyone gotten to doing some Grey Knights?

Nope, though I'll probably get a box or two, just to get my grubby little hands onto those nice bitz and to bling up Veterans, Captains and Command Squads. Maybe even Sergeants.

Looks good, I can see a definite improvement in your painting over the past few months. The base helps give it a more finished look too.

The holes for the storm bolter barrels look a bit off, I use a push pin to make a bit of a dimple to help keep the drill bit on center when drilling out barrels.

Well I apologize now for not having any pictures to show off to the rest of you but I figured I'd give a short update. I am now in the process of getting resettled into the wonderful state of Colorado and have internet mainly through my phone and a friend. The bad news is that most of my hobby stuff is with the bulk of my things, on that slow crossing the Atlantic. The good news is that I have a friend who is into the hobby and Grey Knights just came out. Sadly I think I am turning into a fanboy.

So over the next few days I should be working on some mostly generic Grey Knights, I don't even have a decent list made for them yet, not that I can with the number of models I have. While my camera is MIA I do have a shiny new iPhone that I can hopefully figure out how to pull pictures from and post them up.

I hear that, big moves really throw a wrench into the hobby machine.
