...The more they stay the same

So Master Toddius made a comment in this thread that got me to start this thread. The thread is more for conceptualizing the Dark Angels and getting to know how the Dark Angel community here sees them.

The aim of this thread is to gather broad things - key words, specific actions/quotations in fluff, game moments - that say Dark Angel to you. Please, do not be timid in posting what may be contradictory terms; contradiction could be part of the Dark Angels. From these, I'd like to narrow it down to those that have the most consensus and then expand on them into areas of the army that could exemplify them (a unit, special character, piece of equipment, or rule).

Here's what come to mind for me:

Stubborn

First among equals

"What is the terror of death?" "That we die, our work incomplete."

"Until the Sword is reforged!"

Wheels within wheels

Cunning

Terminators (a lot of them)

Bikes, Attack bikes, Land Speeder (a lot of them)

Hard hitting (offense over defense)

Laser beam: concentrate extreme force in a specific point rather than a broad assault.

And the list goes on.....

*shank*.

Dark Angels are the precision strike from a place you didnt even know existed. The rapiers tip as it emerges from the shadows.

Patient hunters. Careful planners- not necessarily the cold hard logic of the Iron Hands, or the meticulous drill of the Ultramarines, but rather something of their own, the wheel inside the wheel.

2 Battle Companies have landed on the south plains, supported by 20,000 imperial gaurd. They march on the capital, looking to break through two other city-fortresses to do so. There armored might is impressive. 12 hours after the arch-heretic sends out his reinforcements to hold those bastions a concentrated terminator assault takes his palace, destroying the command structure. The reinforcements are now caught in the open, their orders unclear as each lieutenant tries to grab what resources he can. In their confusion they are easily taken down by the Ravenwing, supported as they are by rapidly redeployed thunderhawk-mounted battle companies, who drive the forces towards their fortresses whose gates have been slagged by precision lance fire from orbit. Caught in the open, they are obliterated from existance. The remaining cities and fortress bastions capitulate within a day, the one recalcitrant fort simply erased from existance.

Thats what I see 300 DAs doing, and the means of how they would operate. The hunt for the fallen? The worlds governmental structure and news sheets for the past 50 years would be processed in a week for any references that might be chaos marines, or DAs, in the government, leading cults, or otherwise showing influence in any way. An interrogator chaplain then goes over any potential hits, sifting through the morass of information along with his century-younger apprentice, seeking signs of their prey.

The imperium in turn believes they are merely being thurough- making sure that this places taint goes no farther than that wich is readily apparent. That no further cults will be brought to power in mere decades of its reclaimation. They are applauded for their zeal in the emperors name, and thanked for the resources they impressively brought to bare.

The inner circle members know better. They were here to do their duty, but their goals are there own. Their Battle Barge leaves system, there are ork raiders said to be organizing to take a planet four systems away.

Theyll never know what hit them.

Okay, good stuff everyone.

How about a dry run on stage 2?

Stubborn, coordinated offense/expert strategy, precision strikes, devout/monastic seem to be some of the more common notions to brought up. Let's try expanding those into rules, units, and/or items.

Here's some ideas to start:

Precision strikes - Special character upgrade to a Ravenwing squad.

Coordinated offense - Deathwing Assault rule (independent of a character)
