In the heresy story after De Shea in Tales of Heresy he says these famous words " My rank, my oath my Emperor. Together they close the matter." This is right before he walks into the chamber to meet Angron for the very first time. You must remember before Khârn sided with chaos he was a well respected captain. He also served as an equerry to Angron was able to clam him down and get through to him.
