The DIY Swapping Project 2010

Sweet I got Nesewdjet-Nedjety

always wanted to try my hand at them.

Hey mate, is it ok if I knock up a Sergeant rather than a stock marine? If so, do your Sergeants us the same colour scheme as Bolter marines or Veterans on your IA?

So I guess I've got Sylen's Blue Falcons. Can Anyone explain what the joke is? I don't think I understand. :ermm:

It's a military thing. Blue Falcons = Buddy :cuss er.

What in the Warp are you talking about? Blue Falcon was a Hanna Barbera Cartoons character from the 70's. Read my reply, and watch the video linked in it....sheesh, what would Freud say?

Freud would say I'd been in the military too dang long. It's an old saying I've heard since basic training. Saying 'blue falcon' was a way for a soldier to not get in trouble while cussing out a backstabber. My bad, man.

I wish you luck with them, If you need any more reference materials on the schemes or fluff, let me know and I'll do my best to dig something up for you.

1000hethans, I see I have your loyalist chapter. it seems an interesting scheme and premise, should be fun. Is there anything in particular you would like to see?

Took a look at Elohimalpha's Lions of Dawn IA as soon as I checked this thread and immediately started working on my model. My idea's a Sergeant of the Ice Watch wearing some roughed-up, iced-over gear standing atop a frozen mound. Most of the GS work is done already too. Now I just need to finish the fur and paint him up.

EDIT: If Elohimalpha can get me a picture of his chapter's emblem, that'd be great. I may have missed something, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't mentioned in the IA

@Vaaish: I created the Medusan Knights mainly so my evil version of them (The Ironbound) had a noble background. Never really got an IA up for them. I've kinda always imagined them as one part Angels of Iron (holy script and purity seals), one part Iron Hands (bionics) and one part Salamanders (protectors of the weak). Spiritual robotic knights, if you will, lol. Other than that, go nuts, brother.
Sorry, I just read it. The color is yellow. It represents the company/clan they come from on their homeworld. The red and yellow is from the third company, ferrus ignum.(If you know latin, I apologize for this:))

Wow! Sounds amazing - can't wait to see it! You're right about the Chapter emblem not being up yet; I haven't had my Photoshop handy for some time. Ultimately, once I get my greenstuff skills advancing past "laughable" I want the emblem to be a sculpted lion's head, with the mane coming together like sun-rays. I know - a bit much. It'll probably have to be just Termies/command first. Anyway, in the interim, I'm using a white lion rampant, in front of a gold rising sun on a blood-red field. I'll try to get a sketch put together by the end of the day. Oh, and the Ice Watch shoulder trim is ice blue (creative, I know).

Dave, I apologize in advance for making you watch as someone makes you wonder how someone could manage to screw up a paint scheme so badly. Anyways, what page is your chapter on?

Well you can't screw it up any worse than I already do. Check out pg3.

@ Angryjohnny well the tabard is dark gray chardone granite to be technical but interested to see what you come up with...and also the armor is a dark greyish/ metallic possibly chainmail with a several heavy washes not quite sure... also dont know if you read it or not but their symbol is a templar cross...the salamander icon was their for color and reference

@ at strange guy do your marines use codex insignia and markings??? and how do veterans denote themselves

also kinda late do we just paint one mini or what???

thanks

Freud would say the same about me :S

I wonder if their chapter motto would be something like: "Kah Kaw! Kah Kaw!" :cuss

I'm having picture problems. Maybe whacking the computer will help... Wham! Wham! Fizzle, Fizzle That doesn't sound good... BOOM!!! Mediccc...ugh

Well in that case I really hope I wrote the description clearly enough.

Update on my part. I've promoted my Sergeant to Captain of the Ice Watch. He carries 2 relic weapons found beneath the ice, the Lion's Claw and the Sword of Siduris. ((Counts as Paired Claws))

The fur and tabard are GS'd in and the only reason I haven't started painting is because I need to wait for it to set. Apologies, but as usual with my modelling, there are very few parts that haven't been recycled from other models.

EDIT: Will there be a separate thread for posting our progress or do we just dump the pictures here?

@recon0321: Thanks for the clarification. I saw that the chapter emblem is the Templar Cross, it's red right? I was thinking of putting a Sergeant together w/a Power Sword & Bolt pistol w/Shield for aesthetics. Does your chapter use codex markings for company, squad, etc.?

Okay so I have the Emperor's Word to work on. Khrangar can you PM me some information on your guys?

Solid Zaku, here's a few links to my Sons of Doom: IA (will be in line for a redo in the future) and Gallery

Looking forward to everyone's work...now to build me an Emperor's Word Space Marine.

Cambrius

Just so everyone knows, I'll be doing Heru Talon's Darkwatch. I'm going off the fluff he sent me, and modeling one of the lone marines watching over the interstellar void in a small station, accompanied by only a few serfs and servitors. I plan to do a robed figure, weapons stowed away in holsters or on straps, and the Marine staring vigilantly into space (possibly with a servo-skull or two at his side). It might take me a while to get the pose right though.

Pretty much standard codex markings. Company colour on the marines right shoulder trim (standard company colours, white for first, yellow for second etc), squad emblem on the left knee. Veterans are denoted by the crux terminatus on the left shoulder pad and/or helmets painted in the company colour.
