I'd paint it a very dark grey, and wash that with Badab Black . Highlight up to pure Codex Grey for the brightest highlights, but don't overdo, you want most of the mantle to be dark grey and black. You can weather the bottom part to represent dirt and/or dust, the weathering will make the detail of the mantle come out a bit better then a uniform black mantle.
