Vairocanum Posted January 7, 2011 Author Share Posted January 7, 2011 my internet has been down for a while, so i havent had a lot of chances to get on. lord commander eilodon is nearing completion, ill post a pic of him later if i can find my camera. im still thinking of what color to paint his cape though... @1000heathens: thanks for the awesome suggestions, for the thighs i decided to only put jewels though. and im more then happy to be an outlet if i can get more good suggestions for my models. @GooseDaMoose: thanks, i dont really like those conversions either so i decided to try and make my own. pre-heresy lucius has been temporarily put on hold. mainly cause i dont know anything about him (how he looks, his story) and the internet pics are really bad and i dont have access to any of those horus heresy artbooks. btw your counts as azreal looks really awesome! Vairocanum Posted January 10, 2011 Author Share Posted January 10, 2011 i started making a brother sergeant rafen (from the blood angels novels) a couple months ago. i never got past gathering all the bits needed. i got bored yesterday and decided to put him together. ive done this brother sergeant rafen according to the cover of black tide. i know the hair kinda looks bad, i will try and fix it after i find a tutorial on making long hair. (and i havent forgotten about eidolon, ill continue him when i can find my gold paint.) A tip on the BA sergeant's plasma pistol would be to rely on straight cuts and files for converting weaponry instead of green stuff. I can't judge him entirely since he is work in progress but it looks messy. Loving the Lord Eidolon model, the face ornamentation is rather brilliant and well executed. Vairocanum Posted February 13, 2011 Author Share Posted February 13, 2011 @Shadow Nugz: well the diorama is supposed to be a marine that just killed a ork nob but got his arm ripped off in the process (i was kinda going for a "bloody but victorious" thing) i dont blame you for finding it confusing, cause i wasnt really thinking when i made it (i made it in 15 mins at some event i went to 2 years ago). and the blood angels sergeant is far from finished (so it still looks messy). i was only hoping someone would see my sloppy attempt at hair and send me towards a better tutorial. as for the weapon, i was just too lazy to smooth out the gs before taking a picture. and thanks about lord eidolon. I'm really liking that head, it sets off the model. The only thing I'd say would be a few more wolf bits on him, the chest and shoulder kinda look bare. Other than that, spot on man. Vairocanum Posted March 13, 2011 Author Share Posted March 13, 2011 thanks, im not really sure what wolf bits i should add on him yet (there are so many to choose from). i thought about trying to replicate his shoulder pad from the horus heresy art but i couldnt find a small enough wolf skull and i cant gs a good wreath. also i did get your pm about lucius. i sent you a pm back but im not sure if it even went through. i was just asking if lucius used a bolt pistol. pre heresy lucius is next once i finish bjorn. Vairocanum Posted March 24, 2011 Author Share Posted March 24, 2011 my friend who usually supplies me with space wolf bits that i need has gone on vacation and ive got no source of wolfy bits right now. i'd order from a bits website but i usually check with friends if i can get bits for free instead. so bjorn has been put on hold for now. i do have more than half of the bits for lucius now so ill be starting on him in the next couple days. but what im working on right now is Talos, the night lord from ADB's Soul Hunter. ive always wanted to try kitbashing him (cause he's the most awesome csm ever) but i never really could figure out how he looked. recently i did a quick google search and came up with the picture of talos on ADB's website. i decided to give it a try cause the picture just looked too cool. ive only changed the head and the back pack from the picture, because i have no idea where to get the head in the picture and because i dont want to buy the night lords hero model just for the back pack. and ive still got a lot of work to do on the legs and i need to do his right shoulder pad. Vairocanum Posted March 29, 2011 Author Share Posted March 29, 2011 @Pattison: thanks, go ahead and steal away. ok, so ive pretty muched finished the legs on talos. i just need to make him a tabard and finish his right shoulder pad (i still have not idea how to do it though). anyways i recently read the 40k graphic novel Blood and Thunder, and i really enjoyed it. in one of the mini stories in the back it talked about a dead marine being taken away by scavengers after the war was over. i really wanted to try and recreate this scene so i came up with a small diorama. you can go to my album and see a couple more close up shots. Vairocanum Posted April 15, 2011 Author Share Posted April 15, 2011 @1000heathens: yes, i actually do plan on making some bodyguards for him, and bodyguards for eidolon as well. im really want to start a small pre heresy emperor’s children army, but im currently planning to start a death guard army too, so i don’t think ill start a EC army until later on. i was going to start painting lucius when i broke his legs off. ill have him fixed up within the next couple of days and start painting him. my friend recently bought a fw deathguard upgrade pack because he needed a couple more marines for his army. he had a couple of extra parts left so he gave some to me, and i reallly like the detail of the marines. im planning on ordering my own upgrade pack and some chaos warrior legs later this week and starting my own death guard army. this DG marine is just going to be a one-off marine that ill try to do really nicely to put in my display case.
