Best / Worst Rolls

Just wondering what everyones best bit of luck or worst bit of luck with dice rolls have been, my Assault squad got charged by some khorne bezerkers the other night and managed to save all 27 wounds. My mate couldnt believe it ^_^

 

On the other hand I rolled four 1's and a 2 with mephiston when I only needed 2 hits to wipe out some chaos termies :\

That instantly brings to mind my Vindicator.

 

Clear line of sight, no cover, no scatter, straight on top of 3 Chaos Termies that are about to hit my line if they don't die. AWESOME! Roll to wound: 1...1...1... ARGHHH! Then there was the game the other day where my Vindicator rolls for it's terrain test. ....1.... re-roll!.....1..... should have paid 5 more points.

Man, I miss those rending hits...

They let me blow up a Land Raider with 10 DC.

Let's just say there were many 6's rolled that day.

 

On the other hand, I used to roll so poorly that in a 1500pt game I was tabled, and only took out 74 points of my opponent's force. This wasn't brilliant maneuvering.. this was rolling 8 1's and 2's out of 10 dice.. very often.

Just had a game yesterday (it's the most recent example I can remember) where my HG took 4 wounds from a Tyranid S5 AP- 5" template my 2 SS toting marines are the only memebrs of the squad who fail their 3+ and then roll double 1's for FnP... it was a long night and these kind of armor saves were a trend for me. Was a good game and close right up to the end, but ultimately I couldn't stop the onslaught. BA mech brings too many KP's to the table!

750 game mirror match (ba's vs ba's - my mech vs his drop pods).

 

I had 3 seperate turns of where I was assaulting through terrain - all I needed was anything but a 1 on difficult terrain - got 1's every single roll.

 

Any of those combats I'd have won the game, failing 3 in a row - cost me the game.

 

Also in that game my x2 lascanons rolled 1's to hit 5 turns in a row.

 

That game was the worst rolling I have ever had, and honestly could blame nothing but the rolls.

My most standout good roll would have to be popping a LR on Turn 1 with my first shot with a lascannon. 6 to hit, 6 to pen, fails it's smoke save, 6 on the chart, 2 gamers giving each other the "did that just really happen?" stare :lol:

Watched a battle like a year ago.

Awesome reserve rolls. 5 units of gribblies available.

First DS, perfect.

2nd, scattered onto first, dead.

3rd scattered onto first, dead.

"I can't be that unlucky again!" or words to that effect.

4th, scattered onto first, back in reserve.

"You weren't!"

5th, tried to place it a larger distance away, scattered onto first, dead.

"That's even worse luck. You're right again."

 

game called... and they restarted. That player refused to DS reserve for a while.

I find that my Baal deliever good and excellent rolls when hunting vehicles, almost to the point where I have given up trying to take out vehicles with them. It often seems the case that I either get no rends or a ton of rends...then when I roll for the additional penetration they are all 1s and 2s followed by miserable rolls on the damage chart.

 

I was had the odd occasion in 4th Edition with my Death Company (8 DC and a Chaplin) that they fired their bolt pistols at a 6-7 man Bezerker squad in cover before assaulting and wiped out the whole unit. Very Strange.

My best rolling was pretty recent.. I run a list with Sang Guard, RAS, DC and Tactical and 1 JP priest. The priest joined the Sang Guard and then I started rolling Red Thirst... 1s for both the Sang Guard, RAS and Tacts. So my entire army had FC regardless of Priest location. And when the Sang Guard priest died I was so happy I rolled that early 1 as well!

BoLScon. I had one of my 6 squads roll a 1 for Red Thirst over 7 games. Didn't have any of my 3 squads thirst over 3 games in the doubles games there.

 

Yeah, my special Mark of Khorne guys didn't get much use that weekend.

I played 2 games last week.

 

Game one, not a single unit falls to the red thirst (and I use Astorath!)

 

Game 2, every unit fell to the red thirst.

I played against Orcs and Necrons siding with a Tau-player. First thing that happens is that my Razor pops a Nob-carrying truck with the heavy bolter, loved the sixes there. Wounded some Nobz too, that helped my Assault marines to wipe them 2 turns later. The last turn my allied kroot unit got assaulted by some boys. My Sang priest was nearby and we had agreed on that the blood chalice worked for both our teams. The kroots got a bunch of wounds against them. But with FNP it should be fine, right? Nope. He failed 10 or 11 FNP and they ran like little girls. Had they stood their ground, they would have contested the objective, but now we only got a draw.

 

This was also the game that my immobilized, no weaponed, red thirsting Dreadnought stood in the middle of a field the entire game. Man, he was furious!

Actually.. once a vehicle has no more weapons at all and is immobilized it counts as destroyed for the game.

Still though, I assume it still had 1 Blood Fist or something, and was just avoided from that point on?

The other day I was playing against a friend who had 2 land raiders on the field, he went first, on my turn i dropped 2 dreadnoughts with multi-meltas right behind his land raiders each targeting a different land raider. Rolled the first got a 5(+1 for ap 1) got another 5 and had both explode turn 1.

 

Then I proceeded to resume my normal luck and not be able to kill anything, not for lack of trying mind you.

 

 

Unfortunately now he will never leave them that vulnerable at the start of the game.

Does it really? It isn't wrecked until it gets another weapon destroyed or immobilized the way I read the damage table.

 

And if it had a fist left, that would mean he had a shooting weapon too, right? Dreads can't loose just a storm bolter and keep the arm or have I played it wrong there?

My LR which shot at a dread for 5 turns with both Las sponsons and only managed a shaken result in the 1st turn...

My regular oppo never misses his scatter dice rolls (except once in his last game). I ALWAYS miss mine, usually when trying to deepstrike and end up losing whole squads to perils tests.

Rolling boxcars for armor pen to only roll a one on the damage chart :devil: Or missing with 4 'frikin melta's in one turn.

 

Best rolls? Between Penning a landraider with Assault cannons or Assaulting a squad of Landspeeders with a furioso and wrecking both of them with blood talons haha.

When I play Dante he never wants to die. Every time I used him he was never killed :P

So that's why Dante is my all time favourite character

 

On the other side I had a battle in which i lost a TS and a RAS (both groups 10 man) in turn one bacause I failed to even throw a single 3+ :S

That was rather frustrating

At my local store the running joke is about the fact that I always roll snake eyes with my powerfist. If I don't manage to roll them to hit, then I roll them to wound. Yet my sgt's always seem to make their armor saves.

 

Best roll was against a hive tyrant and my scout sgt. Hive tyrant had one wound left and sgt had sniper rifle. He made his roll to hit, got a six to wound and rended the beast. Shot was point blank with tyrant six inches away.

I had one time against a Tyrant with only one wound left. Blasted it with meltaguns, plasmaguns, plasmapistols (something like 10-15 shots between them) When the smoke cleared, it was still standing there. Then my reclusiarch fired his bolt pistol at it. Dropped dead.
