In the Second War for Armageddon only three Chapters were involved against Ghazghkulls first Waaagh. The Third War cranked the numbers up significantly (perhaps to better suit the world wide campaign where every player could participate).

 

Only 3 chapters were involved in the Second Armageddon War because the fluff for that originated with the Battle for Armageddon boardgame which was primarily a Guard/PDF fight: each chapter counter was roughly equivalent to an Guard Tank Division of which there could be up to 7 in play at a time (and the game only covered one continent). More chapters were involved in the Third Armageddon War because it was created for 40k so needed to cater for all the marine players (not to mention fluffwise the Imperium saw the 3rd War coming so had time to muster forces, the 2nd War was a surprise)

Very true but like I said I was just sharing the look of Astartes forces from what people were mentioning that is all.
