My Newly Painted LRC (1-8-12 Additional LRCS!)

So here we are again with another looooooong overdue update. Finished up my sword brethren squad and their rhino for my vow completion. I ran into a small problem however and realized I would need the dual lightning claw sword brethren model as what he actually is, meaning I would have to paint a new Marshal. Well with our update we received this was a perfect time to do it, adding a storm shield on him instead of the 2nd claw, this model has really been showing his stuff with those 3 wounds and his 3++ save! So behold gentlemen the new leader of my crusades!

And although the lightning claw guy isn't new, I just wanted to get a pic of the whole squad, so here it is!

So today I will be playing my first real apoc game. Only thing is no datasheets / super heavies since everyone that is involved is also new to this. We decided to keep the strategems on board and roll with table set up / deployment as per the apocolypse book. Needless to say stuff had to get painted, and well the army just looks awesome altogether. The second LRC still needs highlights and a few bits and what not, but I got a close up of the important part ha ha. So hear it is 4750 points of templars (Game will be 7k a side in case you were wondering)

So there it is, please check through the forum before requesting any closeups, if you cant find it in this thread lemme know and I'll get shots of it.

Appreciate the comments guys, alot of work has gone into this project over the last year, and although there are a few tid bits here and there to work on, the crusade at this point is pretty much done untill our new book drops.

So I decided to paint up the character upgrades out of a command squad box I had lying around for years. Opinions appreciated!!!!

Pretty much playing for fun now, untill we get an update, but these guys have actually proved their worth! Having a Marshal with furious charge is just glorious!

The halberd is from the new grey knight sprue donated to me by my cousin, and the effects were done via blending and highlighting. Nothing to fancy, paint straight out of the pot and blend in other colors as you go along.
I gotta learn how to blend. Like I mix paints for highlights but I can't blend for the life of me

ditto

What do you mean ditto lol? So of topic question I have about 20 GK from when I started a Daemonhunters army, so should I add a GK attachment of a Legion of the Damned attachment to my BT?????

Your army is sick. They look great, man. You really do need to do something about those bases though lol.

How did you do your robes and cloths?

Those are actually very easy, paint the entire robe bleached bone, let dry, hold model upside down and wash robe with gryphon sephia (or however its spelled) again let dry, then drybrush bleached bone. No mixing or anything involved.

Love the swords and the freehand. Even though the army looks great overall, I still feel it lacks.

The main reason for this feeling is because there is cool (and some good) freehanding and really good, super swords/halberds, but the rest kind of lacks behind. Armour highlighting, cloth highlighting, lenses.. IMHO there is a realy big contrast between those things.

Is there a reasoning behind this? Just curious, and I'm in no way attacking you!

Time mainly Dannis, I had a whole bunch of stuff that I had been playing with for years but had not had it painted. As of right now im just getting everything up to TT quality (only have a squad of termies, their LRC and 2 vindis to do now) but once that is all done I plan on going back and hitting the minor details to include highlighting the infantry and doing the lenses.

But thank you for your feedback, well you and everyone else, always helps when others appreciate your work!
