Armor Athlete
I am in the middle of designing my Angels Revenant (means ghosts that come back). I am leaning towards 1) tombstone grey, like a Shadow or Fortress Grey. 2) Black and Bleached Bone or 3) a Midnight Blue with Bleached Bone accents. Let me know what you think of when you think of Ghosts or Phantoms.
Br0ther Rafen
i think that maybe black and grey, as you have described would be pretty good for the "ghost" look pretty well.
WingsOfTheFalcon
I quite like the way GW did the army of the dead for their LOTR range: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1180985_99061466011_GoodKingDeadMain_873x627.jpg Uses greens and greys, looks very effective to me. Schmitt.
If you're using Dark Angels, Black Templars or other marine models with a lot of tabards, robes etc. then perhaps Hawk turqouise can be the basis for an excellent ghostly, ethereal effect on the cloth, with the armour a drab black, blue or grey. The vampire counts army book uses it to excellent effect but I have no idea how it'd translate to marines.
