Blood angel HH named.

ANCIENT FALOR

Recommended Posts

Personally i have mixed feelings about James Swallow... His BA books were absolute crap (in my opinion, at least), but he did a more than decent job on the HH, so... i guess we'll see, it's not like i can do anything about it anyways

Personally, i think there are two possible ways to picture the BA in HH:

1) They were indeed absolutely pure and blessed at the beginning, and became flawed only after the events on Signus, or

2) The flaw was there since the beginning, but somewhat hidden

Personally i'd like 1) better, it makes the subsequent fall all the more dramatic. Too many shades of gray in HH, i'd like some more good old black-and-white for the BA

And while on the subject of Signus and the Flaw, my understanding was that the events on Signus caused the Red Thirst (i.e., the thirst for blood which is a constant drive in every moment of each Blood Angel's life), not the Black Rage (the insanity that afflicts only a few marines on the eve of battle, which was caused by Horus zzzapping Sanguinius to death)

Although not keen on James Swallow as a writer I must admit there are worse authors in BL's stable. Also, someone had to do BA sooner or later and we can't just wait for Dan Abnett or A D-B to pick up the tab every time we want an outstanding book that expands the background rather than merely fleshes out what we already know (not that Mr. Swallow is fundamentally guilty of this charge, mind you, but one or two others, I feel, are).
PLEASE NOT JAMES SWALLOW!!! That man has been butchering the Blood Angels chapter in his books for too long, can't somebody else cover the legion?

Put down his first BA book because it was utter crap and never touched any of the others. Flight however was so good I couldn't put it down. So color me cautiously optimistic.

Keep in mind half the plot was already "written" for him in Galaxy in Flames, and the plot was the biggest complaint normally raised about his BA books. Basically my view on Swallow's books, the man can tell a story superbly...just don't ask him to create the plot.

I concur, Sabadin. Like you pointed out, prose isn't everything. :teehee:

I Am sure there is a reference to sanguinius in one of the first three books stating that he was a rival to horus with the blade

Yeah I'm sure there is but people get such wide, sweeping assumptions on that meaning beating Horus.

True. Just because he was on-par with Vanilla Horus, doesn't mean he was anywhere near close to Super-Charged Daemon Horus. The current fluff says that The Emperor, supposedly the greatest warrior in Humanity, struggled to keep up with Daemon Horus.

Adding to that, how often have you seen Horus wield a blade, mmm? :)

Anyways, I'm with the didn't-fancy-his-Ba-novels-but-liked-his-HH-books, crowd.

Definitely interested in reading this. I'm in the minority here as I actually didn't mind his Blood Angels books....Okay, the first two were not that great, but, I enjoyed the other two books, and his HH books were great reads.

In all, I'm looking forward to reading about Sanguinius and his Blood Angels kicking some Daemonic arse...and perhaps some more insight as to the beginnings of the flaw.

My understanding is that the emperor could snuff out Horus with a thought but didnt really want to hurt his favourite child, as for BA books be interesting to see if some of the answers to the anomalies of that particular legion are answered, time will tell...
I think Signus Prime was more on the Red Thrist, and the Black Rage was only caused by Horus getting naughty with Sanguinius.

Aye, that's correct. If perchance you were aiming that at my post about the flaw. Isn't the flaw used to describe either the Red Thirst and Black Rage, just the Black Rage, or just the Red Thirst? (I don't have the codex with me and can't remember off the top of my head) If so, please let me know and I'll correct my post.

If that wasn't aimed my way then....please ignore this. *laughs*

But i dont want to wait i want blood angels book now damn it, we only get a mention in the first few books then not even a whimper after not even a short story :) ;) ;)

Good things come to those who wait. Or not in BL's case.

Besides, the Blood Angels were featured pretty heavily in Horus Rising, we even got a close look at their Primarch. I feel more for fans of legions like the White Scars and Ultramarines, who have until recently have been starved of coverage.

Really looking forward to the book though.

I agree with ya 100%.

I hold high hopes for this new book, and I'm certain I won't be disappointed.
