I just finished 'Betrayer' and have a whole new respect for possessed marines (at least the ones portrayed pre-heresy). Speaking of, any interest in the new Forgeworld Gal Vorbak? I'm glad you painted some bikes because to be honest I've always felt the GW CSM bikes looked fairly dated but, seeing this, they look much better with a decent paintjob on em! Well CS dont have the silver trim, they have gold. Other than that the paint jobs are pretty similar! I actually try to go for a darker crimson when i paint the veterans of the army, and a lighter red when it's the more common rank and file. But the intention was to be a brighter red overall. The main reason being I am a "clean" painter, the dark red feels too messy to me! Additionally my pictures never i take seem to make the red always look brighter than it really is. It was basically just layers of warlock purple (not sure what the new paint is called?), but with black added to it. Eventually I added some white instead of black and built up from there. I personally believe the important thing about any cloth is that you start dark and build your way up. And obviously water your paints down a lot. The more you water a paint down the better the result you will get. I'm sorry to generate such anger in you :P A few people have mentioned the red being consistent but when I look at my older minis I can really see differences. And obviously my older models are pretty poor compared tot he newer ones! Although if you spend all your time looking mostly at only your own minis I guess you notice the flaws in them more than any others. I had a game last night and used both the possessed and the Gal Vorbak (as spawn), but squads did really well, was a great game and a great opponent! I have some pics I'll share later on! I do plan on doing a diorama between word bearers and ultras but if/when I get round to doing it is another story! Glad you like him! I don't really think the Gal Vorbak saw themselves as evil. Later on the possessed probably do a bit. But i quite like the clean look. It shows they are still "human". Might just be me though!
