When you see the Custodes Contemptor with sword and shield and you know you will have a + ZEALOUS + conversion and templarification in your future.

He needs a ranged weapon to deal with flyers and other enemies too cowardly to cross swords with him. I advise mounting a Cyclone missile launcher on his back. (I plan on doing the same with my own Dreadnoughts, when I get around to buying and building them.)

With the shape and that heat shield... Also looks like there's a fuel line coming from the pommel of that sword... I'm calling that one a heavy flamer... After all what Templar wouldn't love a giant flaming sword on a Dread???? :wub.:

It looks like he has something like a stormbolter on his sword. I think flyers will leave him alone because they are afraid he'll throw the sword at them.

This guy has Templar written all over him.

The strange barrel shrouds made me think the weapon was a twin-linked meltagun- a weapon generally associated with the Salamanders (or Adepta Sororitas), but I admit the weapon is useful. And with a Contemptor Dreadnought's strength, an innate immunity to melta weapons will NOT save the filthy xenos constructs known as "Avatars of Khaine".

...you call Lightning Claws "Sword Fists"

...despite meta changes you firmly believe that the Black Tide is the most correct way to field your Crusade

...despite insistence of not wanting a Marine army you keep getting drawn back over and over again

...you consider the idea of Saint Celestine leading a Crusade of Templars a good reason to start an army of witch hating fanatical zealots

...when the above statement applies to both Sisters and Templars equally but it still applies to you

...when you don't understand why people want psykers in their armies

...when the thought of running psykers in your army makes you righteously angry

...when you regularly go on crusades to this sub-forum even when you don't collect Black Templars

When you celebrate the new year Templars Style!

Happy New Year fellow swords of Dorn!!!

When you get righteously pissed off because this.

+ GETTING AWAY FROM ABADDON'S FORCES, WHAT THE :cuss!? +

http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2017/01/40k-fall-cadia-details.html

…The Black Templar plus -I- pic is showing them on a moon called Klasius and trying to get *away* from Abaddon’: forces. “Their deliverance comes from an unexpected direction…”

I'm not surprised really... If the Templars fight head-to-head against Abbadon's 13th, then they die... if they defend the last defenders of Cadia then they save lives... then they die anyway... either case the title of this story is the Fall of Cadia, it shouldn't be a surprise that the Imperium is on the losing ground with this one...

Besides, this is Cadia, I'm pretty sure that this is just a token Templar Crusade, Helbrecht and Grimaldus are still chasing Ghazghkull across the galaxy and avenging Armageddon with Yarrick, so Templar story progression hasn't really progressed yet...

...when you hear the rumor that the Wrathful Crusade formation will be both Black Templars and Cadians, and you look at the generic marines you've been sitting on for a while that think, "This is the time."

When you get righteously pissed off because this.

Temper your ZEAL brothers, we do not fully understand the "story" just yet.

Also, keep this in mind:

1. Grimaldus had to "get away" from Ghazkhull's forces at Helsreach, in order to make the Templar's glorious stand at the Temple of the Emperor Ascendant.

2. That stand not only created a new set of heroes, but also bled the Orks white.

3. This "history" is not written yet.

IMPERATOR VULT!

...when you wonder why the Techmarines won't approve your "Storm Pistol" idea.

...when you find yourself considering launch a M31 era Crusade just because Templars look good in Heresy Era power armour.

Someone needs to clean up that mess those lesser Astartes made after all!

And more on topic:

...when you leave copies of Helsreach in hotel rooms to spread the ZEAL.

...when your phone's machine spirit is set to correct ZEAL to all caps.

...when you read Templar before bed and no longer need to sleep by the time you finish.

+ LOOK AT HIM. JUST LOOK AT HOW GOOD THE BLACK LOOKS ON THAT DREAD! +

...when you know you don't suffer a fever when sick, you gladly accept it for it is a sign of tiny Black Templars rushing through your body with flame and ZEAL to purge Nurgle from your holy form.

...when your closet only has one color: black (or black with white shoulders).

...when conversion projects for your army are never dictated by cost but by ZEAL.

...when you add books to your reading list because they're mentioned on here (Blood and Fire is my "reading next" selection)

...when you realize the first Space Marine you tried to paint when coming back to the hobby was a Chaplain (with jump pack...In metal).

...when you have always found the sons of Form to be the more interesting loyalist chapters in the modern setting.

...when you wake in the middle of the night with thoughts of how to represent the initial Templar founding (some examples: should MkIII or MkIV be primary for their armour? 30k rules or 40k? Tabards all around or just on SB? Should everyone initially be painted as a SB for surviving the Iron Cage? What does a Crusade Badge for defending Holy Terra look like?)

...when you have a sudden desire to start writing notes on parchment with a quill pen in the finest of black inks.

...when other army projects don't draw you in because they lack a certain "something" that makes them interesting (as someone who plays Sisters this is true: I have only every repeatedly come back to two armies: Black Templars and Sisters)

...when the only thought about psykers you have is how flammable they are

...when you wonder why GW rolled BT into the vanilla Dex only to realize that they needed someone for the Ultramarines to look up to.

*snip*

Oh, so he does come with different armaments already in planning. Interesting. On the one hand he would stand out a little too much compared to all my regular contemptors, on the other hand, I gotta have one. Question if you can mix and match some pieces to allow for greater visual unity. Or maybe just say screw it and say it's an old High Marshal in the dread.

It's a challange though, and you know what we do with those.

...when you wonder why the Techmarines won't approve your "Storm Pistol" idea.

Ask some Blood Angels or Iron Hands Techmarines for help. (I wrote rules for an "Angelus bolt pistol"- incorporating the Blood Angels Angelus boltgun's trigger assembly, plus the ability to use SPECIAL ISSUE AMMUNITION- here. It's an "assault pistol" that fires two shots when fired.)
