Lykos: Cheers chap, sadly I have already gone with the skirts and to be fair they actually do look the nuts now that they are fitted!

No pictures updates today but happy to report that I have just pre drilled, dabbed and beaded 154 rivets. Which is not as much fun as it may sound but hope the result is worth it!

Hope to finish the interior tomorrow and base coat it over the weekend.

Cheers all!

Evening all!

Last build post before paint i promise!

So almost there, was drilling out the exhausts when my last bit broke so need to finish that and then add tow hooks to the front and smoke launchers to the turret.

The tedium and madness are worth it, brother.  The rivets give it that last bit of necessary depth, that last niggling bit that pushes it right into the verisimilitude sweet spot.

ETA: Just went through the thread again, didn't see where you got the rivets from.  Are they purchased or hand made?

Like the grating for the shell cages, too.

Edited by ChromeZephyr

ChromeZephyr: Verisimilitude, great word! Thanks brother, appreciated, makes the hassle worthwhile!

Kierdale: Thanks brother, still have to finish off the cages, they will get a plasticard top to make them look a little more durable! And of course the hexes will be deployed as per usual, don't know for certain how much weathering I am going to do and whether it will get hung with tarps etc but will be fun getting there!

Max: Cheers chap! The beads are from a britta (sp?) water filter, crack one of those and you have enough beads in many different sizes for about a decade!

Muggs: hadn't seen that before but have it a quick google, interesting that and good news rules whise for me! Suppose the big difference between GW/FW and mine is that the superstructures are static on all of theirs and I was keen to have mine with a full traverse turret which was a PITA to combine with the elevation of the barrel but delighted to have achieved it! But glad the rivets are getting some love!

Cheers all!

Biohazard: Cheers chief, we can but hope!

Lykos: Yeah I am with you brother, thought it would look too busy but now they are I really like them.

Jackofalltrades: Most kind! Fair to say it is a labour of love and I hope not to have to stop any time soon!

Kierdale: thanks mate, love a bit a stowage and faux realism!

Just finishing off the Storm Habicht Eaglt Raven, added the recessed doors to the front to cover the door gunners doors, just waiting on some drop tanks from forge world and need to pose and finish the second door gunner as well as the pilot and weapons operator.

Then we can start base coating everything and get cracking with the interiors!

Cheers all

Can't wait to see the progress on this. I actually bought a couple of the Valk door gunner bolters after seeing your work on this. I have plans for a space marine flyer that ill get to eventually. I like the idea you had of the door gunner so I nicked it....I mean 'took inspiration' from. :)

Bio: Stel away brother! I will be shamelessly borrowing ideas from your centurians!

Razblood: Yes sir, you get back to work this instant! But thanks man!

Now on to the work of late:

Not much to be fair

Finished the second door gunner which took an inordinant amount of time

and fitted some FW drop tanks, one of which was perfect, the other cast had slipped so needed some work but ok now.

So a bit of filling and the pilots and we are a go for paint!

On a side note, the new tactical sculpts are stunning. Hate that the hands are attached and they reversed the positioning tabs on the torso but the rest is very good indeed!

Kierdale: Ha, that is spot on!

Almost there on the Habicht,

And finally I had to figure out a way to extend the hull, at least visually as the airframe just didn't quite work. Thought of these one night, love the image of the two eagle heads watching over the embarking marines, some may touch one or the other on the way in as a talisman, nice!

Almost done with this now, need to finish the last bit of tidy up and we are good for paint!

Cheers all!
