Death Company as Berserkers

I want to model my berserker as Death Company that survived the battles, but have been saved from their 'fate' of dying. The insanity that they suffer is appealed to, and these former marines are lead into battle by those touched by tzeentch, who can whisper lies and weave illusions to the insane, to keep them in line.

 

Now, I have around 10 of the metal figures (the 2nd edition of death company, as well as four of the first edition death company), but how would you model (or in reality, paint... as they are already constructed and painted) the fact that they are now touched by chaos?

 

 

One option is to take on the new death company plastics, and maybe mix in berserker/chaos pieces. However, I do have 5 of the plastic death company figures and the quality of the plastic is high, would the chaos pieces match up with this?

 

Also, how would you model the "skull Champion"? A sorcerer maybe holding staff that has a blood angel icon on the top?

Hmm intriguing idea,I would also mix in some Chaos possessed pieces as well as Death company and Chaos marine bitz.

 

For the Skull champion I'd think about using a Dark Apostle style model,illustrating some form of Chaos Chaplain.
