HsojVvad
Riding any kind of beasts, should be left to the space puppies. Actually I would love to have Beasts that the Calibian Knights, or is it THE ORDER have them riding the beasts, just for nolstagia. What could I get from the fantasy line to do this? Also is there a chpater called the Caliban Knights or Caliban Order? Brother_Darius
If you really want to look into it I think the high elves have some lion models now Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226284-interesting-caliban-reference-in-prospero-burns/page/2/#findComment-2727107 Share on other sites
MadDoc
Actually I would love to have Beasts that the Calibian Knights, or is it THE ORDER have them riding the beasts, just for nolstagia. Nostalgia would suggest it was something they used to do, which it isn't, the only way the Dark Angels would get nostalgic with chaos tainted/xenos beasts is by slaughtering them. Kingin
Would either love to have Knight looking models riding horses, OR have a unit called Caliban Hunters, basicly they are the EXPERTS OF ALL MC KILLING! They get like some MEGA BUFF against MC's like re roll to hits and wounds, and on the charge get like +2 S, I would love that! Instead of riding lions which I think is cool, have a HUNTING Party, their better than Vets, but not as best as Death Wing, but DW should get like 2w 3A be B.A. with it, ya know they are the BAD (BEEP) of the WHOLE Dark Angels and the imperium! If I recall correctly thats where the ravenwing came from not? Yes to the last question. I always liked to think that within the Rock, gene-bred steeds would be kept and the tradition would not be lost on the generations of Dark Angels that pass through the Chapter's halls. That isn't to say that calvary should be a unit choice, but there is much to be said, fluff wise, about how close to tradition Dark Angels stayed through the years. The Ravenwing are hunters, the Deathwing are killers. The MCs aren't that common to warrant a special unit. EPK
What about huge black warhorses.... Non tainted and oure and fitting with knightly traditions. If I recall correctly thats where the ravenwing came from not? I was actually thinking the same thing. But it wasn't just the Ravenwing that rode them, I thought warhorses were common throughout the Knightly Orders, no? That said, I like the gene-bred steeds Candleshoes mentions. Taking stock from the original steeds of Caliban, they would obviously have to be genetically engineered to accommodate a Space Marine's size and weight. Than again, I'm not sure how ridiculous giant horses sound or would look. Though this diminishes the tradition perhaps (things change after 10K years though), best they also be highly augmented with cybernetics and such for the purposes of war. Or perhaps they are completely mechanical/robotic - some sort of Imperial steampunk-influenced (I can see exhausts and such) design of a horse for the model. Massive and armored to provide some sort of heavier assault unit to the Ravenwing forces. They wouldn't be true "calvary" though considering they are not alive, so they would probably still follow bike rules but perhaps they could benefit somehow in moving through terrain or something considering there four legs vs. two wheels. Azoriel
I would've considered something more along the lines of the "cyber-wolf" upgrade you can give thunderwolf cavalry. Though I suspect even a cyber-destrier will only last as long as its organic components (?), and the idea of breeding/raising horses indoors (even if only to make more cyber-destriers) seems a bit of a stretch - no room to graze, train, or even exercise. (Producing them on one or more worlds held by successor chapters, like Pervigilium or Mortikah VII, or even one of those worlds only visited occasionally might work...) Candleshoes
The Rock is big enough to house an unimaginable amount of stuff methinks. The largest crewed "vessel" in the Imperium if memory serves correct.
