New(er) Dark Angels army

As some of you may have seen, I was supposed to paint these up for the challenge that has recently ended. Well, to say the least I did not accomplish this (though 5 funerals in three months IS a little difficult to contend with). So, I will at least post what I had up to the point everything went crazy. I will also continue to post as I finish it, as the army changed quite a bit since I first put it together.

Initial Army shot:

Commander:

Deathwing:

I will post more shots in a day or few, for progress n such.

Really sorry to hear about the bad luck you've been having this year. It never rains as they say but it pours.

Your commander conversion is really nice, a simple but effective conversion.

As I had said, the army has gone into a complete re-vamp. This is where it is now:

It has improved from 1500 to 2000 points, and has benifited greatly from the new FAQ that I didn't know had been out since December of last year. Here is a shot of my WIP Belial, as I figured everyone else has one, so I might as well too;

Apothecary:

Standard Bearer:

The whole Squad:

Then there is the Dreadnought. This model is one I have always completed first in every Marine army I have ever owned, as it seems that this one was no different;

And finally a shot of the most 'complete' squad I have to date. This will be the basis of the army for green I will be using.

I will post more as I get more finished, or at least further along at any rate.

  • 3 weeks later...

Update. Now its a little small, but that is due to the fact that my camera has refused to co-operate. So, with that in mind, I have a couple of pics to share. first off is the Company Master. I had initially used plastic parts from the DA sprue. However, this was a little inadequate, and the comment of simple was a deciding factor for a bit of an upgrade:

I got exceptionally lucky in an ebay bid for some parts, and ended up scoring the 'feather-head' bit, so I figured it was a good part.

I also updated the Librarian. I had initially used the upper half of the Libby with a force axe and added it to the lower half of a plastic Robed dark Angel:

However, I soon realized that it wasn't quite what I wanted. So, after a rummage through thirty pounds of bits (I have a lot of them), I came up with this:

Its my first use of using non-metallic painting for the blade, but I like it. Now, hopefully, I can get my camera to co-operate that way I can get some of the Ravenwing and Greenwing on here. I have to say, that this is the first time in a while that I am looking forward to finishing an army, AND using it in August to win 'Ard Boyz.

....Hey, it can happen.

Yeah I love the pose of that new Libby... I wouldn't like to be the one he's pointing at ;). Your Company Master is really cool – love that feathered helm, a really great DA design that was brilliant on the original old metal Master model and really helped define the DA 'look' back in the day.

Cheers

I
