jokaero weaponsmith
My first posting so be gentle. I know hes not game legal but hes fluff legal at least in my head, some how use the fluff helps me invisage the marine as i build him. I could not imagine any IH marine trusting in the hand of a man all be it a "super" man to remove his gene seed even at deaths door hence the servo harness. The harness is still a work in progress as is the apothecary, the harness will have a surgical chainscalpel with lamp on one arm and surgical drill with pict cam on another arm. Basically took the componets of the narthecium and put each on a servo arm. The servo harness has two gene seed needles, one is for the gene seed and the other is for the machine gene seed. This IH clan believes that the machine spirit that resides in the bio implants is as important as the gene seed it self. As the servo arms block the exhaust vents on the backpack the pack has been modified with twin exhaust. Because the apothecary harvests gene seed and machine seed the apothecary symbol has bee modified so the one half of the dna symbol is angular for the machine "dna" and the other is curved for the human dna. Any suggestion or ideas would be welcome. celes
Yes, yes, oh thrice blessed Omnissiah YES! Â OK... now I've calmed down, I don't see why this shouldn't be game legal. If he's still part of a command squad and you don't go putting guns on the servo-arms it would just count as a big narthecium. I'd love to play against an army with this guy in it. Â So where's this going? Can we expect to see the rest of the squad or perhaps a commander? MOMUS
I really like the concept and servo arms, its fantastic. The detail work is great, where do you get that thin tubing? Im not too sure on the exhausts. They look a bit IG'ish rather than marine-like, esp for IH who have bionics of a grade above 'normal' astartes. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Awesome concept and execution so far, but I have to agree that the smokestacks look a bit out of place. jokaero weaponsmith
Can see what you mean about it been IGish i normally use the back packs with the three vents and block only one side vent. Thought i could use stacks as they are on back pack of Ferrus Manus in the cover art of fulgrim but a few thousand years have past since then, will have to have a rethink. Sevano Tomasin
I love this model, it screams "Iron Hands" to me. The detail you've gotten into this is...astounding, there really is no other word. :) Â I've got to respectfully disagree with you chaps though - I think the exhausts add to the model. The IH techmarine illustration (used for the MoTF) in the Marine Codex, and IA:III, IH article has similar exhaust gubbins on his back. All I'd say is they perhaps appear to be a bit too tall. Dark Apostle Thirst
Nah, Iron Hands have a very electronic feel to them, smokestack is very steampunk. Â By the way, I like the model. Nice greenstuffing :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228841-jokaero-weaponsmiths-iron-hands-immortal/#findComment-2743748 Share on other sites
Olis
Excellent modelling there, brother. I really like the feel to the model - the smokestacks look impressive, but slightly out of place. I'm not sure whether anything appropriate could be done to replicate the feel they give though... Â Anyway, the important thing is as long as you like it and feel they should stay, then so be it. It is your creation after all. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228841-jokaero-weaponsmiths-iron-hands-immortal/#findComment-2743884 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
That looks wicked sweet. Typical Cricket
Very nice. I'm worried, because I foresee those servo-arms breaking off every time you try and transport him, but it looks awesome so far nonetheless. jokaero weaponsmith
Thanks for all the comments, all of which have been taken on board. At this stage im unsure what to do with the stacks so will continue with the servo arms and try and keep it visually balanced. Maybe drop or shorten the stacks or maybe make the stacks have finer holes in the heat guard less bulky and more crafted. Will post other servo harnesses i have done in the future. jokaero weaponsmith
Finally made abit of progress on the harness all but finished the servo arms (for now, cant help but play) had to hack off alot of what i had already made to get the arms to work but worth the effort. Now working on other details like the flasks etc and cabling also added helix to shield on the chest slowly getting the hang of gs. After much playing around removed the stacks and added a vent there was to much going on with the stacks as well as the servo arms. Thanks for all the comments regarding the stacks all of them where constructive and noted, will save the stacks for some other harness. Have hacked out the flasks and wil add clear rod ones instead as i dont think my painting skills are up to the job. I will be replacing all the other details removed during the resculpt. Firepower
Good lord ;) No amount of lollies would get me into that guy's office. Â "The Doctor will see you now, brother...." Â VRRRRZZZZZ click-clack VRRRRRRUUUummmmmmbumbumbum snick-snick wheeze buzzzzzzzz CLANK Â Â :D Â Stupid jokes aside, an epic job you've done on this guy so far. What sort of shoulders are you planning on using? I'd consider using the big, super chunky double plated ones that normally go with that torso, if only to offset the spindly insectoid look of all those arms. KJB
Tremendous, my favourite bit has to be the green stuff apothecary symbol on the chest, simple yet brilliant  Only criticism would be that mould line on the pistol... jokaero weaponsmith
Wont be leaving the mould line just a quick mock up for photo the other hand will be holding a flask of gene seed and i hope to give the impression that he is contemplating the fate of one of his fallen brothers. Like the idea of the chunky shoulder pads as they are my personal favourite and i would have them on all my models if i could. spu00sed
Very nice model  Not sure if a chainsaw and power drill are really surgeons tools, but what do I know?  What are you gpoing to put in his open had? The skull of his latest victim err I mean patient?  What I love must about the model is that it screams Dr Channard to me. legoss
This model looks just fantastic, the servo arms are some of the best I've ever seen. That drill looks awesome, though it looks like it would be used for surgery on a land raider, not a marine haha. Consider parts of this idea stolen, if I can make it look half as good. jokaero weaponsmith
Pretty much completed the modelling of the apothecary but cant get up the nerve to paint him so have been practising on a couple of earlier converts with mixed results. According to the fluff Apothecaries of the Iron Hands have the entire right arm including the shoulder guard painted white as well as the backpack. A white stripe is also painted vertically down the helmet. Not sure i am to sure about the look of this can anyone suggest some links to complete models with this sceme. Any ways couldnt stop messing with the servo harness idea so have modelled a couple more as practise for my techmarine. I love the gw techmarine models and the harness detail but the casting always lets the model down as they always look warped, bent or misshapen maybe the fine casts wont have this problem. Just a basic servo arm it wasnt going to be for this model but its growing on me. Model is the first in a squad of counts as legion of the damned, iron hands brothers that have almost completly given themselves over to bionics (will be scratch building the bionics this guys about 70% converted)The robe shows his affiliation with the adeptus mechanicus ( and thankfully hides the need for a complete body conversion). I think of this harness as been developed for hulk recon and STC recovery tentatively doing reconnaissance around corners and through doorways for contacts or laying down cover fire while the spacemarine uses cover. Thats if this little fella isnt around to do the reconnaissance, these guys are so iconic to the 40k universe and yet they are completely ignored always imaged there were hundreds of these floating around doing recon, supplying ammo, transcribing events ,making repairs etc . Power Hungry Monkey
According to the fluff Apothecaries of the Iron Hands have the entire right arm including the shoulder guard painted white as well as the backpack. A white stripe is also painted vertically down the helmet. Not sure i am to sure about the look of this can anyone suggest some links to complete models with this sceme.  First off, awsome looking servos, really nicly done.  About the colour scheme, I used to run an IH army and did a similar thing with my Apoth. I gave him black armour with a white right arm (and pad) and helmet. I found this worked really well with the rest of the army as it didn't create a 'sore-thumb' solid white model in a black army but gave enough of a contrast to tell he was a specialist. I also did the same thing with the Libis I ran; right arm and helmet/hood in blue. Sorry no pics tho, this was a long time ago and the ary has since been stolen (long story)  Keep up the great work and can't wait to see them painted  Cheers, PHM Edited May 30, 2011 by Power Hungry Monkey Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228841-jokaero-weaponsmiths-iron-hands-immortal/#findComment-2775693 Share on other sites
jokaero weaponsmith
Hi guys been a while had a monkey on my back, what started as a gs dump for all my excess gs has grown in to a very demanding little project. This little guy is my first attempt at a full green stuff sculpt, progress has been slow and pretty much stopped work on all other projects so still havent done the painting of my apothecary yet, but had a few practises painting on some other brothers, pics to follow after this guy is sculpted. Was never happy with games workshop sculpt so i started my own after seeing this imagecyborg hope that link works. Currently working on the feet and satchel with work still to go on head and body will try to show so images of my other work soon. Thanks for all the great comments in the past, looking back a previous post i was slacking in replies, sorry all about that i did enjoy read all your comments and crits. Power hungrey monkey thanks for the advise on the colour scheme of the apothecary, have been looking around and think your idea is solid, sorry i didnt thank you earlier. Hope you all enjoy Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228841-jokaero-weaponsmiths-iron-hands-immortal/#findComment-2842702 Share on other sites
fivepointedstar
what are the plastic sizes you use to assemble the tech servo arms? Do you by that stuff online, or at a store?
