A new HH novel in development by AD-B, can anyone tell me who Aurelian is?

I read on another forum that its the planet that DoW 2 ends on, but i dont think thats it.

Wasnt a Primarchs second name Aurelian? Lorgar Aurelian? I'd guess Lorgar cause of who is writing it but I cant be sure, its been bugging me since i first read about it

Is this the title of the HH novella with the traitor Primarch Council when Lorgar outs Daemon Fulgrim?

Obviously AD-B is the best person to answer this :P

So his name is Lorgar Aurelian?

If my memory serves me right Aurelian was to Lorgar what, say, Lupercal was to Horus. It's not an official part of his name -- Lorgar is Lorgar, plain and simple -- but everyone needs a nickname.

Okay.

Yeah, Aurelian is Lorgar's surname, of sorts. Much like how Horus is occasionally "Horus Lupercal", Lorgar is (very rarely) Lorgar Aurelian in The First Heretic. Mostly, it's just his nickname, like Lupercal, rather than a solid surname.

Aurelian is a limited edition novella, like Promethean Sun. It'll probably be limited to about 3,000 copies. Aurelian was supposed to be first, but I missed my deadline (what a shock!) by so much, that another novella had to be commissioned to take its place in the schedule.

The premise behind it is "What did Lorgar see in the Eye of Terror?" and yes, the extract shown on BL.com a while ago - with all the Traitor Primarchs in council - was from Chapter One of Aurelian.

They posted the first draft extract a few hours after I'd handed it in, which actually bugged me a tiny bit as I could see little things like how there was a "the" missing, and so on. Here's the link to the extract: http://www.blacklibrary.com/downloads/prod...f/1-9/20000.pdf.

It's probably most notable for the fact that it shows a clear view of how I'll be treating Angron, and for showing how Lorgar is starting to change from his years of being lost and confused in The First Heretic. The actual novella also sets up my next Horus Heresy novel in the most obvious and blatant way possible, as the Eye of Terror section is framed by several Primarchs a few days after Isstvan, doing... things.

It gets released later in the year, and in my humble opinion, it has the best cover of anything in the series - novel, novella, or audio drama. But that's not getting shown for a while, yet.

Hope that helps.

*plots how to justify spending £30 on a short story to the girlfriend*

*realises, just don't tell her!*

*feel guilty and buy her new shoes*

*realise that £30 short story just cost £100*

Exactly. Everyone always complains that it's GW's prices that make the hobby so expensive, but for me, it's the incidental costs that get me, every time.

*Various swear words that cannot be mentioned relating to the fact that I cannot amass £30 for a book, even a book that awesome-sounding*

"It's probably most notable for the fact that it shows a clear view of how I'll be treating Angron"

Does this mean there's going to be a Horus Heresy World Eaters book by A D-B? Am I just being slow again?

You do realize the demand for this novella will be absolutely insane right? Even more so than Promethean Sun I bet.

Maybe. In the wider fandom, I'm still pretty new, and although it's an HH story, the novellas are written specifically to add to the series, but not be essential reading like, say, Horus Rising, or whatever. So I don't know how it'll sell, really.

Dammit, I want this audiobook!

Novella! Not an audiobook!

It could certainly be interpreted that way.

So we can infer from ADB breaking the news to Lord Caerolion now, rather than let that misapprehension re audio/novella build to maximum effect, that Aaron isn't a pleasure delayer...

You don't have to deal with my inboxes. (Inboxi? Inboces?)

Misunderstandings are to be crushed. Crushed, I say.

...before they can become "But I heard..."

Hehe. That'll teach me to properly read a thread before posting! I'll stick to my excuse of "it's like 2 in the morning here, and I desperately need sleep, but news of an A D-B novella (see, I made double-sure to be correct!), in particular one dealing with daemon-Fulgrim and the reactions of the other Primarchs to that, is worth the trouble". Of course, if you now start getting lots of complaints about "but I heard you were writing an audiobook!", you'll know who to blame, and I'll know to look for a character named similarly to me being killed in the most horrific, demeaning way possible, like a Marine losing to a naked, unarmed Grot in a brawl, dying from drowning in the urine of the grot. After the grot's already dead.

I approve!!

I'll be getting this Novella (page/word count btw?) and even biting the bullet on shipping to Canada if I can manage it, but any mention of a WE book, well it excites me in ways I am loathe to admit outside these hallowed forums...

It will sell insanely well, I tell you.

And people will whine about the price and the fact that it's limited.

They will whine a lot.

I think putting all those novellas into one book and selling it at a normal price without being limited would bring much more money....

Just to make 100% clear - as I'd freaking hate anyone to shell out so much money over something on a misapprehension - it's very much the story of what Lorgar saw in the Eye of Terror. About a quarter of it (mostly the first couple and last few chapters) does deal with Lorgar and several Traitor Primarchs after Isstvan, including how they're noticing the Bearer of the Word is changing since the Dropsite Massacre, and Lorgar's reaction to Fulgrim's 'unique situation'.

But, again, none of it is "essential" reading in the sense of Horus Rising, for example. It's just (hopefully) a cool story to bridge a few gaps and show a little more between the cracks.

I'll be getting this Novella (page/word count btw?)

As a rough guide to the Horus Heresy:

Audio dramas are about 10,000 words.

Short stories are usually 8,000 to 15,000 words.

Novellas are about 30,000 words.

Novels are 90,000 to 150,000 words.

tl;dr -- Aurelian is about three times as long as my usual short stories, and about a quarter of the length of The First Heretic

I now have this image of Nick Kyme typing Promethean Sun out, whilst cursing your name the entire time.
