First B&C post!

I've been playing a lot of xenos and daemon armies lately, so I felt it was about time to get back to some good old Astartes action.

With the release of the red wake and the condemptor dread from ForgeWorld, I finally knew what chapter I wanted to play, the Carcharodons Astra, or Space sharks.

I love scenic bases, and the description in the Badab war part II, of the Sharks massacring the Mantis Warriors, sounded like something I wanted to reproduce.

2 Figs built so far, Tyberos and the Condemptor Dread.

Tyberos, about deliver the coup de grâce to a separatist Mantis warrior.

I like The Red Wake's helmet, but I think his victim's last sight should be Tyberos' pale face, black eyes, and sharpened teeth. Head is made from a marauder horseman head and the mouth from a possessed marine head.

Not all the bases will have mantis warriors on them, just the big ones.

The Condemptor. How cool is this Dread? Super poseable, and I magnetized the right arm for many diff. weapons options.

Another poor mantis warrior

Custom Heavy twin linked bolter arm, just for fun (does anyone use a TL Bltr?)

The kit is highly detailed

And so it begins! I will be running lots of Terminators, scouts, land speeder storms, and assault marines in this force, using vanilla marine codex with Tyberos chapter tactics.

Out frickin standing Marine!

Really impressive skills on display here, the wakes head, 100% on the money, the poses for both, don't think can be bettered, the poor unfortunates caught in the action look be suffering greatly ( as Befitting traitors, albeit unwitting ones) and the TLHB arm is very well done although not a great choice on the table as mentioned. Looking forward to more! there must be more!

That is all.

i would love the tyberos model but there is a fluff problem.

quote from IA 10

"never seen outside of his archaic suit of terminator armor, his face when revealed was a corpse white nightmare with half the bones of his face exposed in a bloodless grimace, while his eyes were a soulless, depthless black."

although if his face was changed to match it would be awesome.

still like the conversion though.

sorry if this seems like a bad welcome from me.

These guys are absolute BEASTS! Great poses, great conversions. I love the extra touch of having the bladed dorsal fins on the shoulders of the armor and I'd love to see that motif carried through the entire force. They look awesome.

Very impressive. I really like that the Carcharodons are getting a lot of attention, and I think you have done these models justice. I am very impressed with Tyberios, he look brutal! Cannot wait to see them painted.

Cheers!

So I had some free time this long weekend, knuckled down, and got some base coating done!

The army as it stands, first base coat, still lots to do. The recent addition of scouts helps.

These ironically were scouts I had started painting as Astral Claws, just before the badab books came out, based on BoLS' AC color scheme ( a sand yellow with tiger stripe patterns). Now they serve the loyalists!

I was worried Tyberos would have too cluttered of a base with the prone Mantis Warrior, but I think once he is in a big meaty squad of terminators, itll look better as a centrepiece model.

This model gets sexier the more time I spend painting it. After seeing the super condemptor with 2 gats and some missiles, I may need a couple...

Different view of the Heavy bolter. SOOOO many random bitz used here folks, so many...

I magnetized the arm just above the elbow, where it meets the shoulder. After seeing that heavy conversion beamer and plasma cannon, I'm glad I did!

Tasting blood, the sharks move in for the feeding Frenzy!!!

1000 heathens- thats the effect I was going for, thanks!

Doghouse- high praise indeed bro, thanks

Machine priest- Well you can only have yourself to blame! I saw your blog when you first started, got me inspired! I hope you see it as flattery and not stealing :P

ShanV- I haven't had a chance to read the full fluff for him yet, what I picked up was that he had a gaunt face, black eyes, and a rictus-like grin with ivory looking rows of teeth. I shant be changing it, but thanks for the fluff input!

Grimdarkness- something I also only noticed after building them. Tyberos' pose is preset, but how I positioned the Dread's legs dictated his upper body tilt, which just so happened to coincide partially with Tyberos' upper body.

Loketh- I wanted to make my shark dread look diff, as I know the guys running the badab war campaign at my FLGS would get some, which inspired me to add one to Tyberos. I think if I keep it minimalist it can help cement the shark aesthetic without going "space wolves wolf talisman of wolf" all up'n'ere.

Daismith- Easy to magnetize actually! a medium magnet slots just into the shallow space for the arm to shoulder joint, then a smaller one and a ring of plasticard and bam, she's good.

Everyone else: thanks for the warm comments and welcomes!
