Saa
I, for one, am intrigued as to how this will all go down. What do the AL have in store for the RG? Where does it fit in with the bigger picture? Plus we shouldn't already be panning a book that isn't released til next year. Whilst I do agree with this statement it's tricky not to form an opinion given the authors dry and sterile writing style and the fact that the Raven Guard have so little written about them, fans are expecting something monumental for their first real appearance in the HH series. But I'm just playing devils advocate as I do actually agree that you can't judge a book by it's cover.....or in this case, by it's BL blurb Saa Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236286-deliverance-lost-summary/page/3/#findComment-2850680 Share on other sites
Alkana
As much as I agree with this in terms of how the AL operate in current 40k, I don't feel there's been enough time for them to implant a serf to raise up through the ranks at the time of Isstvan V. Unless they've been planting these spies in every single legion since long before the heresy began. I wouldn't put it past them to do this but it seems somewhat implausible compared to just painting themselves a different color and forging some identification codes. This. The AL were only around for about two decades IIRC by the time the heresy started. KJB
I dont know why everyone is so worried, Gav wrote it - that means that the Alpha Legion pretending to be Raven Guard will actually be Dark Angels all along - Astellan and Cypher will be running the whole show... Chances are Boreas will make an appearance somehow 10,000 years in the future... ++Edit++ Just read the blurb on the BL website - it says Corax is seeking vengeance against the Emperors Children for their betrayal, I take it he has forgiven all the others?? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236286-deliverance-lost-summary/page/3/#findComment-2851553 Share on other sites
Capt. Taurus
++Edit++ Just read the blurb on the BL website - it says Corax is seeking vengeance against the Emperors Children for their betrayal, I take it he has forgiven all the others?? :) No but it was Fulgrim who killed Ferrus, so the betrayal of that particular Legion cost him one of his brothers. Taking into account that Corax was utterly loyal, such a loss can cause major hatred for one particular actor in the overall frame of things. my humble opinion Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236286-deliverance-lost-summary/page/3/#findComment-2851975 Share on other sites

Beachymike123
i like alll sides of the arguement except for one. where are the people playing these games? i read the books, get inspired and set up a campaign with my brothers/friends. don't get me wrong, i love the books, they go hand in hand with playing the games, but let's not get carried away peeps. step back for a minute, it's only BL. the HH series is to fill a few2, but not ALL, holes in the fluff. the whole 'the AL saved the RG' scene can work, as can 'the Emperor saw it coming' and 'Magnus drifted a hand in' scenarios be fully workable too. f*** me, didn't sanguinus have the power of forsight, so lets see why he did/didn't get involved in the istvaan massacres. i love reading the books, love playing the game even more, but above all that, i'll have a good time before i let it turn nasty. i can see your arguements, i just don't think its worth getting worked up over. remember, if its a problem, roll a dice. Lord Mad Balrog
Speaking as another person whose favorite Chapter is the Raven Guard (even with the lack of screentime they get compared to most other Chapters), I think this plot twist really speaks more about the Alpha Legion than it does the sons of Corax. After Isstvan, the Raven Guard were in no position to counter-act any single Traitor Legion out in the open, much less the sneaky and under-handed Alpha Legion. However. There has long been speculation that the Alpha Legion are triple agents: they pretended to be Loyalists but sided with Chaos, and are only pretending to side with Chaos in order to betray them come the Final Battle. It seems like a pretty standard modus operandi for the Alpha Legion. The writers and meta-plot people are keeping the Legion's options open. That said, eff the Alpha Legion for thinking the Raven Guard needed help!
