Brother Augustine
Is there a transfer or something that people use to put the Hazard stripes on Iron Warriors, Marines Malevolent etc, or do you just have to be very careful, patient, and put up with a lot of yellow paint? Shadey
http://armorcast.com/store/product_info.ph...products_id=334 Might be a bit big for Marines. That is more for terrain I believe. Hemal
Use the Iyanden darksun foundation and highlight up from there. Paint the black over the yellow - use modelling masking tape if required... Shadey
In addition to Hemal's suggestion, make sure you burnish the tape down. Something with a touch of give but not too much, a rubber clay shaper, a plain old rubber (careful or it might grip too much and pull off your tape), or in a pinch a cotton tip. Hyaenidae
Frankly, I just use a steady hand; yellow first, then black stripes. I free hand everything though, because myself and decals don't get along, lol. puck
I'm literally about to try freehanding stripes for the first time tonight on a techmarine model, I'll let you know how it goes and if I discover any hidden secret shortcuts. ron
I've got this "how-to" article on my blog. It's on the edges of drop pod doors, but you might find something helpful in there. All in all, I find it most helpful to draw out the lines with a fine point black pen and then fill them in. Good Luck! winterdyne
Easiest technique (for me) depends on what you're painting. Large stripes (Vehicles) I use a spacer made of a strip of plasticard. Cut the end to 45 degrees and put that flat against one edge, that gives you the angle. Mark one side with a pencil. Move the spacer, and mark out repeatedly. Paint between the lines. Small stripes I freehand, and tend to work from the middle of a stripe outward gradually to get the required thickness. This helps in getting the spacing regular and the edges all parallel. If any of them are off, the whole thing can look shaky. But it's easier to take your time and build up the stripes thickness rather than try to get into a small area with tape or a spacer to mark it out. Shadey
I should have noted above, I think most use a hard metal tool to burnish. I have never had much luck with them though. I actually haven't used a rubber and I am thinking now it might catch too much.
