I've got a 1500 point Raven Guard army now, and it's time I make some decked out Vanguard Veterans, so I wanted to show you the first three I have (almost) done. Aside from a bit of mold-line cleanup these guys are two squad-members away from seeing paint.

Hope this inspires some. I don't mind any C&C either.

It's like the batman armour from years ago, you can't help but look at them!

I'd file off the nipples if I were you (I don't think I've ever said that before)

Other then that, looks good. I imagine them as Corax's personal bodyguard with those winged jump packs.

Man, everyone is busting my butt about the nipples. lol

I actually shaved them off of the guy with the powerfist. The one with the Relic Blade doesn't have nipple-endowed-armour. I only forgot on one of them.

Do you guys think the wings are good? Or is it all just too gaudy for Raven Guard? I like to think Vanguard Vets should have some pretty awesome armour.

I like them, the wings along with those beakies really go with the bird theme of the Raven Guard. The only think I'm a bit dubious about is having the high collars on the torso armour with beakies as it would limit their movement but they look good.

I think you need to clean up the scroll on the fist a bit more. If you don't have files then try smoothing it with the edge of some folded up fine grit sandpaper or fold it around a butter knife and use the edge.

Yeah, I still have a little bit of cleanup to do. I thought about the collars too, but didn't want to risk butchering them. I don't exactly have a bunch of SG kits laying around. lol

Not very stealthy for RG having huge wings stuck onto your jump pack though is it? Nothing wrong with trying something new but those Sang Guard sculpts just shout BA and 'look at me in my artsy blingy armour' Sorry...

That's okay. I plan on keeping the wings black, so I think it will be better after they are painted. Also, I feel if a 7' 300 lb man can be stealthy in ceramite plate, the wings won't hurt.

No nipples.

Not very stealthy having two jet turbines stuck on your back either. :D

Or power armour come to think of it... :D

Ok, ok you got me ;)

It just feels a bit too 'flash harry' for my vision of RG but good luck to you with them and I'm looking forward to seeing them painted

I keep forgetting to check this thread when I was home. At work, the pics look like "-" :D

Now that I see the results - I think they look awesome.

I bought a couple of Sanguinary Guard jump packs to experiment with when I get my RG army going. This is definitely inspiring me to test them out!

I'm looking forward to seeing your progress.

BTW - looking at the bitz, I'm not quite sure how to glue the wings to the jump pack - could you shed some light on that?

The wings actually do not attach to the jump pack. They attach directly to the back-plate of the torso. There are two little nubs that are only present on Sanguinary Guard torsos for the wings to attach to.

;)

quick, quick, before painting starts, have you considered adding a winged JP to Shrike? It'll help blend him to thes squad.

All in all, they look really nice.

Cheers,

Jono

Thanks for the complements! I have considered it and even have an extra pack I could use, however I actually intend to use Heroic Intervention with my VV. Shrike will be infiltrating with an Assault Squad of 10 Marines with Flamer, Plasma Pistol and PF. So I'm going to leave his backpack alone, I like it's classic look and original RG decor.
