Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Howdy folks. I've been posting my BA building/painting blog on HoH forum channel. And feeling like I am not getting a great deal of feedback, good or bad. So I think I need to shift my blog here for you fine people. Instead of reposting everything again, here is a link to my other blog. Anywho. Here is my latest addition. Super Heavy tank: the Sanctimonia Cruoris Braodsword Fellblade. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_FB_01.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_FB_02.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_FB_03.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_FB_05.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_FB_04.jpg If you have seen my other stuff, you will notice I haven't painted the tracks quite the same as before, but that is because I ran out of some of my paints and haven't had the time to go get some more. The main Turret and mounting plate, the 3 smaller Turrets, the engins and fuel tanks and the tracks are resin mod parts and are produced by an American company called Blood and Skulls Industries. Any comments, critisisms and questions are all welcome and appreciated guys. I am Legion
You have a very nicely painted army! My absolute favourite model you have besides that tank is your Storm Raven with all the drop pod parts. I wish that's what it actually looked like. Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Thanks for the kind comments guys, very much appreciated. :) You have a very nicely painted army! My absolute favourite model you have besides that tank is your Storm Raven with all the drop pod parts. I wish that's what it actually looked like. That is good to hear mate, thank you. I have had a fair bit of negative feedback on that model. Although the funny thing is, everyone who has seen it in person has always loved it. It maybe how it comes across in the pics I guess. I am Legion
It's true CTK, for example, in person my models have alot more depth with the red, and I guess I just suck at using cameras, but you cant seem to see the gradual change in the red... Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Hi guys. Just wanting your opinion on a couple things. You know I recently got some of my old stuff back. Well I am starting to incorperate it into my new army. But there is quite a notable colour difference between old and new. I have now got a test model modefied. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/NewOldComparison.jpg Marine #1 is the old colour scheme. Marine #2 is the modefied colour scheme. Marine #3 is one in my new colour scheme. Obviously I have repainted the base. But generally speaking, all I have done is given the model a decent coat of Delvin Mud Wash. Touched up a couple chips/mistakes here and there, but nothing serious. Do you think it looks close enough to my newer stuff? Also, I experimented with a bit of sculpting. What do you think of my first attempt? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/TestSculpt.jpg I can not take credit for the idea/inspiration. I got the idea from sioka here. Its not as good as theirs I know. But it is just a first attempt. Brother Nathan
firstly baneblade, awsomely painted, and i like the choice of weapons for it, however i think the main turret would have benifitted from sitting futher forward on the tank or longer barrels or something there which isnt quite sitting right with me... marines, darker is beteter in my eyes so i like it, though the old metal pads stick out alot to me... chest, youve made that look easier than it likely is. illl be trying something similar when i return to my sanguinius... Brightguy
Modified (washed) scheme looks good enough to me in the picture. May have to do this with some of my old friends. Cain Tiberius Kondrad
I couldn't really move the turret forward. But to be honest I wouldn't want too, I like its possition. And the datasheet I was given for it says it has a 60" range. Dang thing pops 15 shots per turn with the same STR and AP as the Flamestorm Cannons :) There are two datasheets for the model. One is a regular tank with a few weapon options. The second is special version with specific weapons and special rules. (which I lol'd at) I would doubt I am alowed to post the datasheets here. But if its not against the rules, I'll PM the link to anyone who wants them. As for the chest piece, I'd definatly recomend you check out sioka thread and give it a try. Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Howdy folks. After dragging myself away from Space Marine.... I was able to finnish updating 4 of my squads from my 10+ year old BA force. I present to you 3 tactical squads and 1 devestator squad. What have I done you ask.. I have removed as many mould lines that I missed 10 years ago that I coulld, without causing to much extra work now. I have removed baldy heads and replaced them with either new BA helms or BA heads. I have added Sculted back pack flags to the Sergeants and painted squad markings on all the models. Other than that, I have given all models a generous wash of Delvin Mud, and then bring the red back a lil with watered down Blood Red. And repainted some of the detailing. Sounds like more that it is really. But anywho.. PICS 2nd Squad led by Sergeant Arvo. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_S2_01.jpg 5th Squad led by Sergeant Pattrazi. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_S5_01.jpg 6th Squad led by Sergeant Icaral. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_S6_01.jpg 9th Squad led by Sergeant Alcoro. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_S9_01.jpg Next I am going to reclaim 2 ebay Rhinos that are in very poor condition, and 2 more Rhinos given to me by a friend that are in much better condition. These will be used for the 4 above squads. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01489.jpg I also have 2 assault squads, a bike squad including attack bike, 2 terminator squads, a scout squad, an old captain with honour guard and 3 landspeeders from my old army that I haven't decided what to do with yet. C&C welcome and appreciated as always. CTK Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238965-ctks-ba-blog/#findComment-2914284 Share on other sites
Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Greetings Brothers and Sisters of B&C I can't quite belive its been nearly two and half months since I last posted some work :/ I have to admit I have been spending far to much time on Space Marine >.< But also, a good excuse/reason for lack of progress is... My wife gave birth to our first child on the 3rd of Jan 2012 :) The last couple months of her pregnancy had been quite trying for her, and so took up alot of my time. But the birth went well and now we're the proud parents to a baby boy we named Leon. :D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/DSC01556.jpg Anywho, I haven't been completely idle regarding 40k. I said at the end of my last post I was re-working and restoring some vehicles. Namely two Rhinos and one Landraider I bought of ebay that where in very very poor condition. I have taken a couple progress shots of the Rhinos. But the landraider I forgot to take a picture to show how bad it was prior. I did take a couple pics of some of the pieces I had left over that I havent cleaned up fully so you can get a general idea. Rhinos before in their original condition. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01489.jpg After paint strip. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01524.jpg And their current stage, ready to be repainted. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01597.jpg The stripped, rebuilt and kit bashed Landraider. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01519.jpg Some of the left over pieces, (I may try to salvage more from these later) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01602.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01603.jpg I also built my own Razorback Turret and Whirlwing Launcher out of a few spares from my bits box, plasticard and miliput. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01598.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01599.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01600.jpg Also..... not done yet. Included in all the stuff I got back from my 10 year old BA force, was a Landraider. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01550.jpg Although, this pic doesn't show it, I have altered the coplar and cleaned it up a little and I will do the same to that as I did the updated squads I previously posted. As well all the above, I also have 2 more Rhinos given to me by a friend. They are already built, but are in very good condition and just need a fresh coat of paint, which I have already base coated in the pic. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01601.jpg This is work so far. C&C welcome as always. CTK Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238965-ctks-ba-blog/#findComment-2966061 Share on other sites
Midnightmare
Firstly, congratz on the birth of the little man, another addition to the Blood Angels I hope!! :cuss Nice work with the Landraider, kind of looks like the FW armoured proteus Mk I, a look I"m sure you intended what with your pre-heresy rhino conversions in the HoH. Excellent work, looking forward to seeing it painted (sleepless nights permitting!) Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Howdy folks. Thank you midnight :D Yeah I will be teaching him the ways of Sanguinius :) Anywho, I have finally got the 2 ebay rescued Rhinos and rescued Landraider painted up. I've also painted up my home made Razor turret with weapons and my home made Whirlwind turret. Let me know what you think. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01640.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01628.jpg Yeah the two handles are differnt sizes. I botched up >.< May goo back and sort that later. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01648.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01649.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01650.jpg For now, the Whirlwind turret will simply share an existing Rhino. But when I have the money I'll be getting its own chasis. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01651.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01652.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01654.jpg Comments and Crits welcome and appreciated. Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Greetings peeps. Finally got the other 2 Rhinos and the Landraider from my old force painted up. Pretty strait forward really, no complex resorations or conversions. Rhino's for the 5th and 6th Squads. No razor option as the lids where already glued down. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_R5_6_01.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_R5_6_02.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_R5_6_03.jpg The Landraider I simply darkened up in the same manor as the old squads. I redid some of the detail and added more to bring it into line with the rest of my vehicles. Before http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/DSC01550.jpg After http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_LR2_01.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_LR2_02.jpg While technically I can use the Landraiders for any squad, I am putting the heraldry for Veteran squad leaders (Terminators/Sterguard/Vanguard) This one bears the heraldry of Lorenzo from space hulk. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/Blood%20Angels/BA_LR2_03.jpg My free hand has improved a lil since I painted Lorenzo... DarkMark
Tons of inspiring work here CTK. If I had to nit pick it would be that I think the skull freehand on the rhino is a little dark, and hence a tad chaosy looking :o . Also as you're rather nifty with a brush have you thought of adding more freehand to the top of the raider? Keep it up! Cain Tiberius Kondrad
I had concidered that... But I do intend at some point, to do a landraider for my Co. Captain, and that one I was thinking of doing a little more elaborate. Abraxes
Great looking armor units. I especially love that Heresy era landraider as it's just plain awesome. Also, you should be given a purity seal or something for your efforts to save those two junked rhinos. The Mechanicus would smile upon your efforts I'd say. I've got a question for you tho, how do you do your weathering? Specifically around the tank treads. You've got this worn / bare metal effect that I'd like to try and replicate. Cheers! -Abraxes Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238965-ctks-ba-blog/#findComment-3014724 Share on other sites
Res Ipsa Loquitur
My only quibble with your insanely good looking units and tanks is the yellow on the weapons but that's merely a personal aesthetic thing. I'm envious of your skills and apparent patience, both of which I sorely lack.
