Thanks for the comments guys! Very very much appreciated :tu:

Small update.

My friend chose the Black T'hawk. I think he was a little happy with it... Dancing round the house singing 'Its Thunderhawk Style' lol.

But that leaves me with the red one, which I'm happy with. That is the way I originally intended it, but gave him the choice anyway.

I started on the twin linked heavy Bolters. The ones under the wings are directly from the Razorback. The forward HBs are from the Predator kit with the mount/stork from the LRC kit. The ammo boxes are from Landspeeders or Attack Bikes I think. (Had a load in my bits box)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/DA303495-368B-4CD3-941B-0F34B4086F4B-7749-000012FB6726B62D_zpsf4831920.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/53CD4A98-3550-4184-964B-8FFB10004893-7749-000012FB7417AAAF_zpsfe1638fc.jpg

I did a mock fit how they would be mounted on the Black T'hawk which mimics FWs model. I would have used the Predator sponson mounts if I'd been doing this. Should be noted the LR mount/stork fits just as well into the Predator Sponsons.

But back to the red one where like I said before, I've made the side door arrangement more like a Landraider. I have taken 2 of the weapon door mounts I had in my bits box and cut the backs off them. And they fit perfectly snug in the door ways I made on the model. And this where I will be mounting the forward HBs.

I have also sprayed the base colour on using my usual Army Painter Dragon Red. It took nearly a full can though :/ oh well.

And that's as far as I've gotten. Would have been more except I've been away a couple days helping my brother, and then had a touch of food poisoning the last day or so :/

Thanks guys :)

Just a quick update. I hate painting large models...

The red is done as much it will be. It's not exactly how I want it, but I'm going round in circles. All the 'exposed metal' area and detailing are base coated in black ready to be painted in NMM grey. More pics soon I hope.

VOW COMPLETE! teehee.giflaugh.pngteehee.gif and a month sooner than I expected biggrin.png

May I present for your viewing (dis)pleasure.. Blood Angel Thunderhawk: The Spear of Ajax. I know the name is more from Greek Mythos, but I was strugling for a name..

The black symbol on the above pic, I imagined to represent that some important officer has at some time been transported on this Hawk.

I've been puzzling on what to do for the windows. As the rest of the army is modeled to be on a dusty redish planet, so this is what I came up with.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/Khabjte/C3483F13-B763-4CA7-85C3-D4B6510F03FA-1752-0000046E6A252504_zps09a17257.jpg

As luck would have it, I had 4 larger magnets in my box from goodness knows where. Which was nice as they allowed me to fit the bolters under the wings perfectly.

And finally the comparison shot with the Baal and LR, but now with paint biggrin.png

Thank you redhorse :)

I do have a link to a really cool template by a guy called Eli_Patoroch. But as my phone and PS3 are the closest things I have to a working computer... So, I didn't really work to any plans. I just used pics you can find on Google. For the over all dimensions, I found a decent side view and top view. I worked out the measurements by the side doors as they are the same as LR doors. This isn't perfect, hence why the main wings are a bit bigger than they should be, and a slightly different shape. (Which I happen to like) The detail layers are all guesstimated using any and all pics I could find.

I doubt I will doing anything like this again for a while, lol. Took it out of me a little. Although I had thought about designing my own version of the Stormbird for s***s and giggles, lol. But it would be based somewhere between Thunderhawk and Strike Cruiser :D

But having seen all the requests I been getting off peeps to build them a Hawk, (not saying its gonna happen, lol) My wife says she's next in line or else, lol.

Thanks Midnight :)

Ok folks. Been moving my models round the house a bit today. One, to protect them from the kids as they grow. And two, to make room for more important things where I had them. But I did take the opitunity to take some pics of the force in its entirety as it currently stands. It is still growing though, so don't be fooled into thinking I've stopped ;)

Howdy folks.

I'm not trying to make you jealous bud. But hopefully trying to inspire :)

So painting has been slow since I finished the Hawk. I really don't like painting large models :/

But I have now finished a Raven Wing style squad. Yeah I know that's DA, but I think the unit composition fits well in any SM force. As my 2nd Co. is complete, these are from the 8th Co. (assault Co.) which is represented by a double green tear drop on the right shoulder. On models from this Co. I'm deciding to for go the embossed shoulder pads and just free handing the symbols. All the bases are made by me as usual.

The 2 bikes on the left side are from the Dark Vengence set. The 2nd bike to the right side is an eBay rescue. And the other 3 bikes, the attack bike and the speeder are all from my 10 year old force, with the same update techniques I've mentioned before.

Models of note are the attack bike and speeder. I like the attack bike itself, but always hated how the passenger sat and gun position. So 10 years ago I modeled a standing Marine with weapon. I gave the passenger hair now though, lol.

On the speeder I've altered the weapon load out, changed both heads and change the gunners pose a bit. Again I never liked the gun/gunner positioning on the basic model.

And a looooooong long time later, I suddenly reappear... Which was nice.

Long story sort, I got a lil bored of GW in general. In the mean time, my 2nd son (Marcus) was born, He's now 2yo huh.png We moved house. I got a new job. Started collecting/painting a few other gaming systems not covered by B&C. But now, I'm once again I'm getting sucked back in...

Painting/Modeling is a lot harder these days, mainly due to increased work and family life. So updates will be fewer and farther between. But I have pics of a few units I've been working on the past couple months. Hope you like.

And last but not least. 2 of my own kitbash/conversions on the Stormraven. I've never much cared for the regular GW kit. So I've used plasticard to lengthen the Hull, and then I altered the wing geomtry to mimic the hull shape of the Thunderhawk. Then added a predator turret to finish it off.
