Angles with Plasticard

Recommended Posts

Alrighty, so I've been trying to scratchbuilt alot of stuff with plasticard lately, and I can't figure out how to construct things at 45 and 90 degree angles and such, whenever I try to build at an angle it usually is extremely weak or not precise. Was wondering if anyone had any special techniques they used to ensure a good angle and sharp corners etc.

Also, does the technique etc. vary depending on the thickness of the plasticard? Thanks!

Cut two separate surfaces.

Angle them as you wish and attach them together with the green stuff (just slap a blob of it on the side that will be hidden from view). While the green stuff is malleable, you can adjust the angle until you get it right.

Let dry. Throw some superglue on there for good measure if desired. Slather a liberal amount of sandable putty on the visible side. Sand with progressively fine emery boards until desirable finish is achieved.
