Update

 

Since ToS April I not had a lot of my own hobby time, but since last week thing have settle down. It time to get some stuff done for my IW

 

First up, before ToS April I converted one Iron Warrior up on the day before travel down to Nottingham when I was make sure my army was ok, everthing was tidy on the painting front, nothing chip, nothing miss out

I've also change the base on both my orignaly/test Iron Warrior model from the start of the log as well as adding some bits from the Devastators backpack & Battlefleet gothic & I re-done a base on one of my Obliterators just look lot cooler to be honsty & I got some Vampire Count stuff I wanted to add to the base

Also I finial got around to make up the Fallen Angels. This is just half of the unit. Aim to make these Chosen for bigger games & have a full unit of ten Chaos Marines (Fallen Angels). Just feel chosen unit wise would fit the Fallen better in the current codex Chaos. Also with 5th ed allow Inflty unit to out flank it fit in with the Fallen Angels show up & battle for there own goals.

I am aim on painting up the Fallen Angels tomorrow. Useing the Cypher backpack left over from the Chaos Space Marine Chirugeon Backpack bit pack

In the next few days I am hope to get the other five Fallen Angels converted up after recently find a box of Dark Angels kicking about in my room.

 

I still got a few thing to do. After reading the short story in Black Library novel Architect of Fate, there a short story deal with the Iron Warriors vs Imperial Fist (led by Lysander). It comment about the Iron Warriors having a Forge Chaplain. Though be cool to try get around & converting up a model like this.

Again for bigger games I could alway use him as a Lord or Sorcerer. But just though be cool conversion wise.

 

Also have the Forge World Apothercary which I want to convert into Iron Warriors.

 

I'm also going to start a Chaos Guard theme force in the next few days which will be added to my Iron Warriors for bigger games. But that will be for warseer with the Guard not being arm with power armour :devil:

Once again real life got a little busy cutting into my hobby time. But I mange to get some time to add a few new models to my Iron Warriors.

 

First up some new Chaos Marines, these Iron Warriors are just update some models due to new idea &/or add trophies base on oppents I fought during the Throne of Skulls April weekend.

When I was build up a unit of Thunder Wolves for my Space Wolves force. I notice on oe of the part the scaribe/Thasound Sons icon attach to a bolter clip & bags. I though this would be a good way to show my battle against Matt, my round two oppent from the Throne of Skulls April weekend.

My Terminator has a new trophie from the Throne of Skulls April weekend

I added a helmet from the Legion of the Damned model when they came out in finecast. This is shown my round 5 game during Throne of Skulls April, when my Iron Warriors fought Black Templars. The unit of Terminators this model is part off killed the Templars Chaplain after taken on the unit of Assault Terminators he was part off

Also with the release of Warhammer 40,000 6th ed, I notice there a few mission where I will need some more Object marker. One mission which has 6x Object Marker & then we have the Relic Mission. This being the case, I though I would model a new object marker to go along with my Templars with Chaos icon & my Capture & Control object Marker - Iron Warrior carry the 5th Grand Company banner.

The idea is a sword in the stone type thing, but being Chaos this will be a Daemon weapon. As for the Ultramarine, I'll work out somthing. Most like be he been dead for a while but it to use his gene seed as a sacrifice or somthing, main reason to be honsty is to wind up a few Ultramarine friends :tu: more than anything else after seeing how they'd re-acted to the crusifed Ultramarine on my Iron Warrior Rhino.

 

Finial I am about to make one more new Iron Warriors. I was looking that past White Dwarf & saw WD 291 which had a bit on Techmarine. Though it would be cool to sub theme a Iron Warrior who was about to join the Techmarine's just when the Heresy was about to happen.

It just for, when people look that the army they can spot out conversion like this. People had commented during ToS April & that my local GW & Gaming club, they like notice all the detail. From the crusifed Marines, to the trophies & Icon base on armies I fought over the years or the Chaos Rune I painted onto the shoulder pads.

 

6th ed - My Iron Warriors have fought three games of 6th ed right now & so far I really like the new rules. I feel it add depth to the game. I really like issue challenges & can see this rule adding a lot more depth to my Iron Warriors champion & Warsmith background.

Right now all my time gaming are focuse on the new rules. I am waiting until our codex is release before I add any new units.

 

However one thing I notice during games is that I will need to give my Terminators units all Power Axe. I find as soon as they are bog down in close combat, being a small elite unit there only so many armour save you can make. For the Terminators I need close combat to be fought over pretty fast. Same time I am notice a lot of terminators unit kicking around the gaming tables recently. Also Power Axe are pretty cool model wise.

 

So far I fought Grey Knights, Daemons & Space Wolves. I just need to get use to not being able to assault out of my Rhinos any more. But that part of the challenge, what I like about new army books & rule release, challenge to learn new tactic, etc....

Main thing right now just to get use to the brand new rules. As last week I bought my Throne of Skulls October ticket in Warhammer World. So need to be all ready for the event/tournament :tu:

 

For the Iron Warriors - As said there apart from working on/off on the Fallen Angels unit. I will wait until codex chaos is release before adding any other units. I will however be looking to add Allies. I started a Chaos Guard theme force (see my topic over on warseer) back in June which will be going along with my Iron Warriors.

I am also recent planning on starting a brand new Daemon Force, I had one back in 2008? as part of a challenge from my local GW store

But I want a more up todate force, to go with my Iron Warriors for bigger games. Also my orignaly daemon force, I sold half of the army, the metal model half that a local wargaming event due to how heavy the force was to carry to my local GW store & gaming club. Add onto this the new range of Games Workshop paints, to try out a few idea on the force as well.

With the Allies rules, it will be great as it will allow me to use the unit I have along side my Iron Warriors force, while I aim to get the Daemons up to 1500pts. Right now I only got a box of Bloodletter & I can re-paint my (Plastic) Bloodcrusher I bought a while back. The Daemon project will be starting in November time.

I take it you like the Ultramarine as he not base on the 5th Company ;) Don't worry, when ever the new codex is release there will be new models added to this force. If it anything like the current codex, I look forward to add a lot more to the force.

Or there is alway a marker to be made for First blood, the sub mission parts as a reminder during games.

 

Like wise if rumour are true on Sister of Battle models, don't worry Graham army will be on there, just want to wait for plastic models. As said all trophies are base on oppents I fought over the ten years & my Iron Warriors have been battle Graham over the years since I started going to the same wargaming club. There also another Sister of Battle player I use to game against back in 2005 who ended up hate my Autocannons in my Chaos Marines squads as they would alway destroy his tanks on turn 1 during the 4th ed era.

Thanks littlebitz - Never knew you collected Iron Warriors, only ever saw your Space Wolves force on these fourms :D I am hopeful going to make that Tech-marine theme Iron Warriors later today & possible looking to add another new IW due to new idea after re-reading the Night Lord serise which I am half way though void stalker, thinking base one my models on Uzas.

But same time I have recently got Fear to Tread, Shadow of Treachery & Treacheries of the Space Marines (saw two short stories base on Iron Warriors so far when I had a quick look though) for even more idea for conversion. So hopeful be reading these novels in the next few days.

 

So hopeful get these models built later today. Along with a further three Grey Hunter for my Space Wolf army, just to make units in my SW army a bit more resilitant (sp) with the new rules & due to possible dropping 2x Razorbacks for Rhinos for those units to give me those points for the Grey Hunter.

These models where ment to be built yesterday but I ended up with a really bad headace due to being a bit to warm weather wise yesterday, I don't like the heat, preffer the cold & rain weather :D

I said in the last update about converting up some Iron Warriors as Marines who where about to join the Tech-marines but then the heresy broke out. I mange to get the models built on Monday, was aim to do this during the weekend but suffer a bad headace as I hate the heat, I hate hot weather, I preffer the cold.

As said in the update with the WIP of this model. The object marker is for the Relic mission & also mission No4 (can not rememeber the name) which has six object markers each worth diffrent vpts. I also pick up the new object marker dice today just as reminder during the games for the vpts & what the object do during the game.

Been a little while since I have updated this topi.

 

Today though out the UK, ever store was holding the Armies on Parade where the winner from each store would end up taken there army & display board down to Games Day which is in two weeks time. I really like the idea of Armies on Parade & fully support this, as end of the day it all about seen some cool armies & getting idea for our own models. As state in the past I rather seen cool armies with lot of conversions & nice paint work rather than people moan about the hobby.

Also for me since Armies on Parade started in UK that least last year. It allowed me to use skills I learnt from my college course back in 2005 to 2008, which was NQ to HND model making. I took part in the course so I could use the skills from the course along with my hobby & the AoP display board allowed that chance, as well as why I got the plasticard/styrene icons & extra armour on my Rhinos.

 

So today my local GW store saw a lot of great entry for Armies on Parade. It was really cool seen eash army & there display board & how they give a sort of image/story of the army & what they where doing if that make sense. It was really close on the votes as well. But my Iron Warriors mange to just make there way by a few votes & will be going down to Games Day. It also why not much has been posted as a lot of my hobby time was focuse on building the board & just this last week has been spent painting my own Armies on Parade board

Chosen - Sadily I will not be useing the Chosen models from the Dark Vengance box game. They are great models do not get me wrong, but for me personial they do not fit my image/personial views of Iron Warriors. Kind of like how I am not a fan of the horn helmet look (Note - Chaos Lord model from DV has been the only model that has made the horn look, look cool for me) & tend to use spikes - view it as another weapon when the chainsword broken & the Bolter is out of ammo, the Red Scorpian honour guard helmets & T face bezerker helmets for my Iron Warriors.

I will be aim to paint up the Chosen in the future but for another Legion, even if it just for display/because they are great models :D Just the Chaos Lord to cool not to add to my Armies on Parade & help fill in a gap when I was working out the display board & getting it all painted last week. The Chaos Lord has became easily my favrout model out of the Dark Vengace box set :D

 

 

Cultiest - New codex permitting. I am planning some conversion & adding cultiest into my Iron Warriors force. Not sure what I will use yet from Dark Veangace set or what to exspect in the future as one rumour suggested we may see a Cultiest box set release?. But pretty much I want the Chaos Guard type look from the Space Marine computer game for my Cultiest units.

Though I do have a Chaos Guard army (see warseer IW army log) I started back in last May/Earily June before 6th ed came out with the aim for bigger games (3000pts).

Yesterday was Games Day UK & I am slow recovering after a 16 hour worth of travel (8 hour down, 8 hour back up) & my Iron Warriors along with the board all seem to have made it in once pice :)

This year Games Day Uk got to be my best/favrout over the five years I started going down & it been great Games Workshop brought in Armies on Parade. For me it allow me to bring in my college (NQ to HND Model making) with my hobby.

Got a lot of people asking me about the board after I set up or when friends ask me to show them the Armies on Parade.

 

I also have a video of the board after setting up, but photobucket seem to take for ever uploading it. To be honsty less hassle today the better for myself :geek:

 

Also got John Blanche (sp) to sign White Dwarf 202 for me, the White Dwarf that started converting models & Chaos Space Marines for 16 years now?

Then the bought stuff. Everone always rush in when the event open that 10am, but I went in that 12pm as I wanted to see stuff (Codex Chaos Space Marines!!!) & still mange to get everthing I wanted :lol:

New Iron Warrior novel, Garro Audio & Forge World Heresy book.

 

New Codex Chaos - I mange to get s short amount of time to quickly check Codex Chaos Space Marines which willl be release in less than two weeks away. So far I like what I seen, just a bit gutted I was not able to get as much time to check out everthing in the codex. But so far I do like the way Chaos Space Marines units have came out & the overall look of the codex.

 

With this, it will mean a lot of new stuff. When the codex is release on the 6th of October, I will need to get a 1500pts force writen out for Throne of Skulls October in Warhammer World Nottingham which is two week after the release of Codex Chaos.

This will also mean I got some money kept aside which any new units or models I need/changeies to my current force can be bought on that very same day.

 

Once this has happen. I am looking to make my Iron Warriors 3000pts. So far models I want to add to my army when the new codex is out would be

- Cultiest: Would like to convert these up like the Chaos Guards from Space Marines the computer game

- Warpsmith: I really like the new model & fit in really well with the Iron Warriors. Unsure if I will do much conversion work due to the amount of detail on the model is just right in my view/how I'd image the model

- Vindacators: While I may not use one game wise - well possible for bigger games, just be nice to have a Vindcator tank

 

But right now it just waiting for codex Chaos Space Marines, see how my current force is & what changies will be made & as said getting ready for Throne of Skulls October with two weeks to get ready before I go onto to make my army up to 3000pts. I will how ever buy the Warpsmith right away no matter if he in my ToS army list or not.

Sorry no, no codex where on sale, it was only two copy - One for us the hobbiest to look that & the once the White Dwarf where useing on there game which was seen in this month White Dwarf.

 

The book is the Black Library Games Day Anthology 2012 for this year.

Quick update.

 

For the past while, as well as working for the Armies on Parade display board. My hobby time was also spent painting some Blood Angels while I was waiting for the codex Chaos/to see if the rumour where true. Now that Chaos codex is due for release, I though I would use this week to try out a few things as well as buy a Vindacator to help toward my 3000pts side of my Iron Warriors force. While I do enjoy collect my Blood Angels force, though it would be best putting them on hold as said before ether here or else where on the fourm, codex Chaos is my force/a army I always look forward to & collected for almost 16 years in general

I am aim on useing the bones to go across the top of the Vindacator with the skull covering the cannon. Just to come across as dredded segien engian that there oppents would loss moral seeing. While the bones ether rep trophies or just with a bit of taint from the warp setting into the tank.

So try get some work done to this during today to get a rough idea how all this will fit together.

 

Aim to get my vindacator ready for painting next Wed in my local GW store. Apart from the dragon, I need to cut out some plasticard extra armour to tie in with my Rhino's & I also got some of the Forge World brass etch I bought a while back.

 

Then testing out the current paints to see if they'll match the now older paints I use on a spare Chaos Marine model.

Pretty happy how it turn out. Only thing is I needed to add two coat of Nule Oil on after words & then paint the highlight, where on the current models it was one coat of Badab Black & the highlight where done before this.

Pretty much as said from the start my Iron Warriors use to be painted with the old GW Inks which are no longer on sale. It why I went from Mk5 force I collected in 2008 to 2009 onto this brand new force, with the aim to add more & not worry about set paints running out. Now I only keep the inks for blood effect & face for my Iron Warriors & nothing else.

So happy to see this just for me to bring my force to 3000pts & possible more with the release of the codex soon. I'll still use my old paints like Boltgun metal for my models needed for Throne of Skulls tournament force.

As said in the post before this I still got to add bits of the Vampire Count dragon spine. Then I am check out White Dwarf 301 on Christain Bryne Vindacator for some idea & looks. Still a lot of work to be done before the model is finish & aim to spend Saturday in my local GW store just getting the model fully built. Aim a bit of tomorrow on getting some of the plasticard armour & details tomorrow.
