Update

 

Another very quick update.

 

It happen ever time for ever event I attended. I am still painting before the event or traveling down. Last Thursday I was finish painting my Chaos Lord in Terminator armour, a new Autocannon arm Iron Warriors & the new Iron Warriors carry banner. Ten years ago before Conflict Scotland I found myself painting a Sorcerer the day before attending the event.

Since then it never feel right if your not painting before a event. Throne of Skulls saw many people painting last min or that least those that I talk to during the great weekend during the Throne of Skulls event :)

 

I got a local tournament tomorrow & Sunday held by my own wargaming club - Stirling Wargamer & I have to bring the army up to 1750pts. For this I am useing the 1500pts force I took to Throne of Skulls as said here & there on this log. Then to add some 250pts. One of the new stuff being the Heldrake, after trying this in game yesterday they are brillaint & well worth getting into your Chaos force. Like wise I have a extra Terminator with Combi Bolter & then my Lord get the Daemonic Axe which like the heldrake was brillaint, led to Lord Narach turning into a Daemon Prince in yesterday game :(

I will be aim on clean up my painting stastion after this tournament.

 

Next models to arrive in the army log in the next few days.

 

Then after this I am hope on getting a Mauler Fiend model finish building wise & get this ready for painting next week. Like wise I have one new Combi Plasma Terminator to make, last Thursday while getting ready for Throne of Skulls October, one of the Terminators have broken apart, lucky I had a fully painted Terminators spare (last Ed my army had 2x 4 Terminators units, new codex I have one with 4 Terminators & another with 3, so one less Terminator). But this one was broken beyound fixing & I'll be making a replacment for him.

 

So get these done before I make a start on the Call of Chaos challenge that Brother Nihm is running :blink:

Small update tonight, but there more happen over the next few days.... lot more for the 3000pts side of the "hobby challenge".

 

First up. After reading the Angels Exterminatus, the new Heresy novel I got a few week ago. I converted up a Apothercary Iron Warrior for my force. Also useing the codex Chaos Space Marine cover for the pose look.

The Raven Guard helmet will be base on my game against my friend David back in Feb time which I already link a few pagies back?

 

White background (A4 paper) is being use due to not being able to find the blue paper I usely have when taken photos. As said in the last update with the Heldrake some work was being done in the house & only finish yesterday.

Just I view the Chaos Legions still having some Apothercary or that least lost there gear. Also it just ment a really cool conversion more than anything else which has & always will be the main part of the hobby for me.

I am still waiting on the Forge World Tech Priest I order during the weekend to arrive. Just for the Servo arm's. In bigger games I can always "Count as" Fabius Bile.

It was the first time useing the Heldrake & I was really impress gaming wise with how much damnge it can do. Like wise I really enjoy converting & painting the heldrake model. I recently bought another one to be part of my 3000pts force & aim to try out diffrent idea for conversion. But that will wait until tomorrow night to get built.

The battle report is up, but I still to get around to type round 4, 5 & 6 of the event. Just this week has been really really busy, but I will try get around to this hopeful tomorrow night.

Apothercary - My Forge World order arrive today, so that the Techpriest arm's now attach to the backpack & the model is currently being painted/base coat so I can paint as soon as possible when I go to my local Games Workshop store on Wed.

 

Second Heldrake - Just started getting the armour work done to this & aim to be paint part of it tomorrow, also aim to get the Cultiest started tomorrow.

 

Then it just planning out the Sorcerer conversion & my unit of Havocs.

Update

 

I was hopeing to get some new photos upload today but it seem Photobucket is being the bane of my life since it done a update over the past few days. So update today where once uploaded on Monday before the update happen.

 

My Iron Warriors took part in Throne of Skulls Novemeber last weekend. Two of my friends had the weekend off for another event, but they where not keen on the rule pack. While for myself I just really enjoy going down to Nottingham & taken part in the Throne of Skulls events.

It was a great weekend & fought some epic games. I fought Nids, Orks, Tau w/Necron allies (sp), Space Wolves & Blood Angels.

 

My Iron Warriors where up for best army nominee again & one of my Obliterator pick up the infamous unit award for take on the full might of the Tau/Necron army for two turns while on a single wound ;) But beyound that my dice rolling went to normal - basicly missing with all my Obliterators weapons during the weekend & think like that.

Once again, when photobucket stop being the bane my life, I will try get my report up.

On another note, today mark 11 years of collecting Iron Warriors now. All started in 2001 with my Warsmith.

 

On the Iron Warriors front - As said I place a big mail order & forge world order. Right now my focuse is on adding a lot more cool stuff to my Iron Warriors. As seen there I already got the Havoc build** & cultiest.

Later today I spent some time converting up my Iron Warrior Sorcerer - Krull. I shown the older model of a IW Sorcerer who was painted the day before Conflict Scotland back in 2002, the Sorcerer I built today will be the brand new version of him.

As I have a 3000pts game arrange next week against my friend David who I've already posted a link to his blog back in Feb when he done a Battle report with his Dark Angels against my Iron Warriors. So we got a 3000pts game arrange for this week & aim to have everthing fully painted or that least for me I want to have my army fully painted as I am personial not keen on useing unpainted models during games for my own models/armies.

 

**Since the photos where taken. Both Havoc units are current in the wash stage. Pretty much the Black & Purple wash on the armour before bring it back to the boltgun stage (what ever it called in the new range).

 

So once photobucket stop being the bane of my life. I should have some new photos upload of the new units.

 

Also if money permits, I am thinking of adding a Forge Fiend to my army. I really enjoy building & painting the Maulier Fiend model & it just mean my Iron Warriors have those units there.

Sorcerer Krull - When I started my Iron Warriors back in 2001/2002 for Conflict Scotland I had a Sorcerer & with the release of the new codex & new psychic power (not try them out yet) I though it be good to bring back this Sorcerer :D

Cultist (note the Tech Priest is not part of the Call of Chaos). I already have a Chaos Guard theme army I started back in June. Aim is that this unit can be added to ether my Iron Warriors or Chaos Guards. Theme wise it ment to be a Forge World planet my IW over took, this is the chaos part. So lot of Techpriest/tech look useing the FW Chaos models for the backpack & the Forge World storm trooper helmet from the Cadain conversion kit.

As said when I was adding the Cultist to my Iron Warriors, I wanted to take some idea from the Chaos Guards from the Space Marine computer game. I just use the Cadain, Forge World Chaos Guards (backpack), Kroot parts & the skull trophies are from the Beastmen Cygor (sp?) model which I bought for some of the other skull to add to thing like my Autocannon backpack (in the normal Chaos Marine squads) for trophies or for my Object marker of the Iron Warriors holding the 5th Grand Company Banner.

 

So right now I need to make up one more Chaos Cultist to act as a Champion for the Call of Chaos. I will get the Champion converted up during this weekend :D

The general idea is ment to be that these are our standard Guard from a Forge World type planet who thrown there lot with Chaos. They are not a rag-tag rabble, they are still well train troops who know how to fight & to hold there ground.

I use Cadain are the base for these models, FW Chaos Guards conversion pack for the backpacks & then the gun part from the Kroot to help convert the gun into Autogun type weapons.

This is so both unit of Terminators are five models strong for my 3000pts & above games. I will be looking into converting a few more Terminators in the near future arm them with Power Fist, Icon's & Autocannons just so I have the models there.

The Cultist above where not the first models to be built in that way/inspired by the Space Marine computer game. These models started back in June when I started a Chaos theme Guard army so I could use them with my IW's for those one off 3000pts games.

But thanks to the new rules allow us allies (sp) & codex Chaos allow us Cultist unit. I am current getting my Chaos Guard models ready so they can be use in both the Chaos Guard force or my Iron Warriors as Cultist.

 

Right now these ten models will be use with the unit posted above, bring the unit to 20 models.

I preffer the Maulier fiend pose on the Fiend model. When it came to making the Forge Fiend I wanted to stick with that & aim to convert the guns so it was more seige looking type.

 

I think the next few units I will be adding to my overall Iron Warrior army will be Chosen & I recently place a order for the Forge World Iron Warrior dreadnought. This is just more so I have the models there & just somthing cool to add to the army & I always been a fan of Dreadnoughts (just see my Space Wolves army :whistling: ).

For the Dreadnought I will be useing parts from the Ork Deff Dread kit, lot of trophies & few of the FW chaos brass etch. I going to use the Dreadnought image from the 4th ed codex for ideas/when converting the dreadnought.

Sorry I not try it yet in games. Bought the Mauler fiend on the release day for Chaos Marines as I was unsure if I wanted this or the Heldrake in my 1750pts list for my gaming club tournament Rapid Fire. So right now it just been added in because I like the model & for the 3000pts challenge which I am near enough complete. With the Chosen & Dreadnought, should see my army up to 3400pts soon & as said there still lots to add on to the overall army B)

 

Seem some parts have arrive today. Guess it will be time to convert up some Chosen...... Also thanks to a few friends, I now have a few Necron parts for trophies from the Ghost Ark kit? Just these will be use with some of the Chosen & then the Dreadnought when that arrive.

I just got two Champion to convert up for my Havoc units for the call of Chaos & a Champion for my Cultist. The Cultist Champion has been made & will be ready tomorrow to get undercaoted.

I still to add a lot of trophies, some battle damnge & to get the left Close Combat arm as I am not to keen on the chainsword arm. For the arm I was thinking of ether useing the Ork Deff Dread kit or the Imperial Marine Dreadnought CCW arm from Forge World.

Great stuff you have here my friend! Your freehand work and conversions are simply incredible! Quick question however, if I am correct the banners you use on your standard bearers are from the space marine commander kit. How is it you are able to get such a smoothe effect after filing off the ivy portion? Or am I just mistaken on the type of banner?

Yes the banner from the Space Marine Command squad box set. I cut off the part that had the purity seal on it & replace it with another smoth/normal part of the flag from another spare banner I had. Just due to I only see recent Chapter or Word Bearer being the Chaos Marines to still have (un)purity seal. Then just add Liquid Green Stuff to cover any cut/mark.

I use Vermin Brown - (new paints) Skrag Brown on the Rhino hatch & Vindcator dozer blade. Use ether a medium dry brush to stipple or the foam from the old metal blister packs & then add any metal paint on top useing foam.

Just a few bits left to paint & then the model will be ready for varnish in the next few days. Then all I have left are two champion for my Havoc squads left before I finish painting everthing for the Call of Chaos. I should have those havoc champion made hopeful during the weekend (money permit). Then that will be everthing painted - Maulier Fiend, Sorcerer, Cultist, 2x Havoc units & the Close Combat Obliterators :)

 

None Call of Chaos models

 

I am going to make the Cultist unit 30 model strong. This way I can ether use it as a bigger unit or three smaller unit. Also I said they'd also be use in my Chaos Guard army which I started back in June.

 

With that in mind, I though be cool to have a Banner in the unit of Cultist (or Guard Standard Bearer in my Chaos Guards)

I just need to get the Lasgun to look more like those in my Cultist unit, basicly use Kroot gun parts. Then later this week I should get the last few models to bring the Cultist unit up to 30 models.

Like the Cultist champion above. The current models for the Chosen are near finish & will be varnish in the next few days. Just have another three Chosen to add to this unit.

 

Also while look for parts recently. I came across some spures with complete Rhino & some predator parts. So though I'd add them to my Iron Warriors :D I use to have Predators in my army back in the 2005/2007 era & it was really great useing four of them back when the Iron Warriors could hace four heavy support chose.

As said there, with the release of the current codex now, I want to try add a lot to my Iron Warriors from my Throne of Skulls/local tournament force, then other units so they are there to try out in games or because I just want to build & paint that model.

I just need to add plasticard armour to the tanks which will be getting done this Friday. Like my Rhinos, I want to add a Crusifed Space Marine to the hull of one of the Predators. But I am unsure which chapter to make the model. As said all trophies are base on armies I fought over the years.

One though has been to try added a dead Dark Angel which the release of the box game earily this year. But I will work out somthing near the time.

This was bought a while back when I was trying to collect a World Eater army which was part of the last Call of Chaos. But sadily a lot of stuff was on the go & it ment any time I had toward both building & painting for the World Eater, they where rush/very limited & I loss intrest in collecting the army.

But I will be adding the Land Raider to my Iron Warriors as well. As posted a while back when starting this topic, I have a Land Raider back when I start my army & though be cool to have a brand new Mk2 version of this.

The model will be converted into a Forge Chaplain. Check out Black Library - Architect of Fate: Endeavour of Will, short story. Which has a small warband of Iron Warriors battle against Lysander & the Imperial Fist. It comment how the Iron Warriors have a Forge Chaplain.

I will be painting the Dreadnought this Wednesday that my local Games Workshop store. For the arm, I think I will be getting the Imperial Dreadnought CCW arm from Forge World. Also need to try get some more Forge World Brass etch as well for my Predators & Land Raider tanks.

 

I should have another update on Friday or during the weekend, just come down to time with Christmas almost here.

For the Obliterators (Heavy/Elite)

- Imperial Terminator Front armour plate. I use the one with the scroll or the skull as it easyer to clean them off. I also use the Power Fist from the Terminator box set.

- Chaos Terminators: Back part for the body & the legs, shoulder pads & arm's.

- Vents from a Chainsword which get added to the body

- Ork: I use the shoulder pads for the left arm & armour loin cloth from the Ork Nobz box set. For the Combat Obliterators I use the buzz saw arm from this kit as well

Just add this onto a Chaos arm & green stuff Obliterator style flesh to help blend/as though the arm one part.

Iron Warriors army - Hopeing on getting a update tonight or tomorrow before Christmas day & Boxing day take over, same time I am trying to get as much done for the Iron Warriors from building or/& painting before the holidays take over/how busy/time it take up during this session.

Right now I been spending the best part of today building plasticard extra armour for both my Predators tanks, so hopeful have both tanks ready for undercaoting tomorrow afternoon. While I also just got the 8x Cultist undercaoted so they can be painted tomorrow when I go to my local GW store.

Then tomorrow I'm going to try get the Forge Chaplain conversion build in the afternoon.

I mange to get some time earily today to paint up eight new cultist, helping bring the unit to 30 models in total. There still a bit of painting before these models are finish from the eyes, chip effect on the backpack & lasguns.

I just to green stuff the base & add some plastic tubes/H beams. Should hopeful get this done tomorrow after Christmas launch. Also give me a chance to see if any family memeber get me any Games Workshop models for any more parts to add to the Chaplain :lol:

Overall I like the idea of Chaos Marines getting Chaplain. I like the idea of a Iron Warriors - Forge Chaplain chanting the Unbreakable Litany during battle to boost the moral/fighting spirt of the Iron Warriors, while bring dread to those they fight, defence there walls or trenchies.

 

Just need to think of some names for these new units for my Iron Warriors.

 

I was hoping to get some photos of my Predators & Land Raider. But time was against me to get them finish building wise.
