What Forge World Pattern do you prefer?

This was just something I was wondering about. There's only 2 main "modern" Titan variations known: Mars & Lucius. I was wondering what was the favorite of people & maybe why. In my opinion both look fantastic but I'm leaning towards hard angled Lucius patterns rather than the sleeker Mars variants. I know you see a lot more Lucius patterns because scratch building the curves of the Mars patters are much harder to do but if you could have one for free (or build one perfectly if you prefer), which pattern would you choose? Here's a refresher if you need to check & a couple of Baneblades to boot.

On a side note I find it hilarious that the Mars pattern Reaver is usually shown painted in Lucius colors (Warp Runners, see below) instead of Mars colors (both Warhounds are painted in their home colors though the Mars one is often shown in the Lucius colors too).

For me it depends on theme and time.

A while a go, a friend and I talked about the aesthetics of the different factions in 40k, and to us modern Imperial should be more boxy/angular designs, like the Lucius due to the loss of particular patterns of STC information and fabrication technology during/after the Horus Heresy. they make due with what they have.

Whereas Chaos, whose technology and members are from a bygone era, may still have access to such technology (albeit limited resources), as well as corruption by the influence of possession/warp would be rounder and more organic. Not to mention a rounder body for deflecting shot or resist impact from incoming fire versus a broad flat plate.

With that in mind, I like the idea of older titan legios (ones from pre-heresy or pre-heresy themed armies) or legios with "venerable" titans being made in the Martian pattern, where later foundings would be in the Lucius pattern. That could make for some interesting conversions, where the techpriest couldn't get Martian parts to repair a damaged machine and had to sub in boxy shin-guards on a Martian chassis.

But that really only when dealing with the "smaller" warmachines like knights, scout titans, baneblades, reavers and some flyers. Rounded edges don't really have much of a tactical advantage on something as large a warlord or Imperator titan.

Personnally, I'm partial to the Dark Age-era style of the Reaver and the Warhound. For obvious reasons -

While I prefer the current Forge World versions, after spending several battles with them, I don't mind the Armorcast versions except the Warhound. Its the dammed ears. I feel like I'm facing a boxing kangaroo. A 40 foot kangaroo with a left hook screaming at 10,000 rounds per minute & a right brighter than the sun.

@Olisredan While I don't have a Titan, I have a Lucius Baneblade. I like it better than the Mars though I don't care for the rivets. In the 41st millennium, the AdMech has forgotten about spalling

@Razrhaghul The composite look of Martian AND Lucius patterns does sound awesome especially if someone made a maniple of them.

I know it sounds like I'm bragging, but I have one of those too, I think*. :P

* Well, it's Maximillian Weisseman's Baneblade - which I think was Lucius pattern...

I´m with the Mars pattern. Ordered my Mars class Warhound yesterday. I prefer the curvier look and the space to paint something on it.

IIRC most Titan legions are origin from Mars. So i think it´s ok that the oldes engines of an old legion like the Warprunners are Mars pattern.

HA! That needs to be quoted. Do you mind?

I prefer the Mars pattern Reaver to the Lucius one, but I prefer the "Jackal" Warhound (Lucius pattern) to the "Wolf" (Mars pattern) one. Both Baneblades look hideous to me though.

Curves are sexy.

I also prefer the Mars pattern warhound. It looks a bit beefier with its larger armor plates, while the Lucius patterns look more spry and jumpy.

Mars every time for me, the Lucius patterns look too much like something you'd see in some Generic Military Sci-Fi Grey-Brown Shooter 7 - Return of the Revenge of the Dark Grey Space Thingies! videogame. I can only imagine how sexy the Imperator would be if FW did a modern-Mars pattern interpretation of it.
