Predator is on the starting blocks…

I'm using Elmo's fantastic magnetising guide, with one exception so far….. I've magnetised the main weaponry in a slightly different manner

Lookin' very nice, facmanpob. I really like how the chainblade looks, and it will definitely look good with some kind of ornamentation!

Now I have ideas for magnetizing my new Predator, and I will be stealing more from Elmo! :D Glad you both like sharing, thievery is fun!

Realised I had the wrong size magnets for the sponson hangars and weapons, so I've ordered them via ebay! Spray paint will be purchased on Saturday morning, so we should see at least some progress over the weekend smile.png

Looking forward to it, think I may have to consider getting some magnets everyone seems to be using them. By the way I couldn't really tell in the pic but is there some different coloured plastic frames, are they for conversions?

Well spotted! tongue.png

In the box on the right is a little plastic box from Scibor with some conversion bits for my Land Raider (when I get round to purchasing it!) and there are also some brown sprues with some Tamiya sandbags (again, thanks Elmo for using them on your Imperial Guard - theft is definitely a good thing). The sandbags are going to be bulking out the turret and other areas, as my plan is to try to simulate a Predator which has been fighting, been knocked out, patched up in a Forge and sent out onto the front lines again!

Re: Magnets.... try them! Once you do, you'll never look back! smile.png

Very nice pob. What's your recipe for the mud and weathering on the floor?

Many thanks thanks.gif

The weathering is a version of the interior painting done on the Medusa in IA Masterclass Vol 1.....

White basecoat

light all over wash of Gryphonne Sepia

Drybrush of white in patches, concentrating on the middle of the floor

Sponge on a 2:1 mix of Vermin Brown:Chaos Black, concentrating mostly on the areas of high foot traffic (near the back door, side doors and control panel)

add water to make a roughly 4:2:1 wash of Water:Brown:Black and then add that sparsely in recessed areas (i.e. at the ends of the floor runners and liberally across the diamond pattern floor of the door

It's not quite finished yet, I'm going to do a very light drybrush of boltgun metal/leadbelcher over the diamond bit of the door, to indicate that its been worn down to the metal by heavy traffic smile.png

Onwards and upwards.... I've finished off doing the magnetising and painting all of the bits and bobs... now working on the main hull, with the turret being left for last smile.png

Yes bling, always seemed to me that the DA have no interest in showing to much gold, they show off with robes, parchment, scrolls and seals. Very nice progress, really like the weathering inside and out and also the writing on that scroll on the door.

Nice doors - especially the text on that parchment. Those illuminated letters are a nice touch. :tu:

That's looking really neat FMP, I also semi-copied brother Elmos' magnetising technique for the pred, used 3mmx3mmD magents for the turret weapon same as you, worked great. I also used the same size on the sponson dangly bits and very nearly wrecked them, only a cool head and a steady hand saved the day, I should have probably gotten some 2mm ones but couldn't find enyone only selling 6 and I'm a little short on wating cash atm.

Anyway, this is not about me. Get the thing finished and get some pics up here for us to admire :D
