You have managed to convey a lot of character in a very short ammount of space, both about the main character, and of the other chapter they were serving with. To me Imperial Fists are like Ultramarines without the Roman/Greek warrior tropes. Ultimate no nonsense badasses able to cut through the BS and get the job done. They are fallible in an interesting way, as their tendancy to over punish themselves for any perceived mistake shows an underlying sense of uncertainty and self doubt. They are clearly still suffering from the loss of The Emperor and compensate with extremes of duty and a culture of self sacfrifice. The types of warfare they specialise in (sieges, trench fighting, urban warfare) are the types that always cause the most friendly casualties, and this speaks volumes of their inner grit.
