I Uhr answer the challenge of the Unforgiven and vow to complete one Ezekiel (1), Grand Master of Librarians; one Company Master (1) w. Power Armour, Iron Halo, Power Weapon, and Plasma Pistol; one Librarian (1) w. Power Armour, Psychic Hood, Force Weapon, and Plasma Pistol; one Techmarine (1) w. Artificier Armour, Servo-Arm, Power Weapon, and Plasma Pistol; from Codex: Dark Angels of total value 525 pts. on or before August 15. Success will bring eternal glory to Dark Angels and failure will doom me to bear the sign of damnation until the year-end

So lets start...

Company Master - WiP

I want all my commanders as well as other members of the Inner Circle to be robed, that's why I always resented that GW made robes only for the limited edition Company Master, and not for the "regular" one. Model is very nice, and with the "Teutonic" crested helmet hails the old days of Angels of Death; so I had to do something about it. I am not very skilled sculptor, so I don't expect praises for what I model, but it was either sculpted robes on model or no model at all. We will see how it will all turn out in the end...

So, first I collected some basic bits that I wanted to have on the model; then sculpted robes on the model with Green Stuff, leaving some details exposed; and cleaned the model and parts of mould lines, etc...

Update...

Finished robes sculpting and adding all the extra bits I wanted; as well as the base.

Primed the model with Chaos Black spray.

Next step, painting...

Update...

Painting still in progress. I am done with basic colours, and now I'll move on adding depth and detailing the model.

Base is done.

Wow nice GS job on that master...i choose him for my vow because it doesnt has that much robes to paint! ;)

Damn i really want to sculpt something myself again! Some really nice inspirations here and on SGs Fortress site(which i visit very rarely because too much inspiration! )!

Im very tempted to sculpt some DW details onto those plastic Termies, and old idea, but this liquid GS could be awesome for this!

Uhr, smashing job on that company master, and I agree with the above, that sculpted robe really adds to that model (and you are far braver than I with doing that sculpting)! All the little bits and bobs you added really improve the character of the model and make him something unique to you, good show! Can't wait to see him painted up with the "depth and detailing" and I'm wondering if you've thought about doing a "personal heraldry" on the feathers for the character? Just some combination of colors added in rows or across the feather vanes could really allow you to make him even more distinct (although plays back into the Plains World idea that others just don't seem to like). They do look great the way you have them in the pure white, almost an "angelic" coloration (although we got to watch that, we're supposed to be a bit shadowy  ).

Update...

Painting is mostly done. I might even leave it as it is for this challenge, because it is at least painted to the table-top level. We will see...

One thing I cannot stress enough; I really hate Skull White Citadel paint!

PS: If someone from the UK would be willing to buy few spray-cans of Testors Dullcote and send it via post to Austria, I would be very grateful and would of course pay for it.

Testors Dullcote spray has some elements which are forbidden in EU, so we cannot buy it here; yes I know United Kingdom is a part of EU, but they are special in many ways...

Moving forward with the ETL vow...

Update:

I am starting with the Techmarine. I made a small conversion by removing the power axe since I hate seeing axes on Space Marines, unless they are Chaos or some barbaric Space Puppies, so I gave the Techmarine a Power Sword, on which I added some gears so it has a bit of a Adeptus Mechanicus look to it. There were some casting imperfections on the model so I had to fix it with a bit of a Green Stuff. I also added few extra bits to make a model more to my liking, made a base, cleaned the mould lines, and in the end primed the model with the Chaos Black spray...

...

PS: I would have started the Librarian, but I am still sculpting robes...

PPS: By-the-way; if my memory serves me, GW uses Scab Red for Techmarines, right? Should I use Mechrite Red as a base, and then cover it with Scab Red, finishing with the Blood Red highlights?

That;s a great Master you made for yourself there Uhr! Very well done - especially the robes. Let's see the remaining characters arrive, we need those points BADLY!!! We need to accelerate a bit here and get our completion rate substantially higher! So good work there- can't wait to see more! :o

Update:

Techmarine is proving to be a lot more than I thought, so my painting almost came to stop. On a good side, I finally finished Librarian's robes, so he is mostly ready for painting, just needs a small "touch" on his arm and priming. I know I am slow, and I know that Techmarine is still not done, and I still have Librarian and Ezekiel to paint for my ETL vow, so I am panicking; God I am panicking... I'll give my best not to fail You, my Brothers; but it is annoying how real life always interfere conveniently when I am really in mood for painting.

So back to Techmarine; I finished the base, and finished with basic colours on the model (Servo-Arm is not at this stage yet). Next step is painting highlights (probably Blood Red) and adding washes for depth, and of course finishing the Servo-Arm.

Techmarine:

PS: Colour of Techmarine armour is a bit darker and more red then shows on photos.

Update:

Techmarines tend to do that... it's like a trait. I have mine 95% done and cannot bring myself to finish him off... :tu:

Real life always does that - panic not brother. You're doing great and I'm sure you'll make the deadline. Even if you don't it's no prob! These look too great to rush. :D

PS: Colour of Techmarine armour is a bit darker and more red then shows on photos.

Try taking a pic without flash - in the daylight... I think you'll find the result closer to the truth.

Update:

Techmarine is finally done (hah, it is so hard to believe); and I am pleased how it turned out. So quick run-over of the colours used on the model. Model was primed with Chaos Black spray; armour was done with Mechrite Red as base, Blood Red as highlights, and Badab Black for shading. All the metal pieces were done with either Boltgun Metal, Shining Gold, Mithril Silver, Tin Bitz, and/or Dwarf Bronze. Skin was made with Elf Flesh as base, highlights were done with Elf Flesh + Skull White (60:40), and shading is done with Ogryn Flesh. Many other colours were used on the model, but were a minor detail touch-ups, so I'll skip listing them.

PS: Thank You all Brothers, for words of encouragement; comments and criticisms.

Great Techmarine there Uhr - the pics are much better too this time around! :P In fact he looks too good for just the Techmarine - he should be leading an Iron Hands force! :D

Keep it up mate - great quality stuff there! ;)
