I apologize for the slow reply, brothers.

Thank you, Stobz. I'm really having fun with this guy. I hear you're now waiting for the new bikes to update your chaplain. I'm looking forward to getting a few myself, but I need to use up the last two of the old style.

Thank you, Brother Immolator. I used this lesson for all the GS work on this mini. Some of it is not in the initial posts if memory serves me correctly. While GS is a bit daunting at first, once I got started, it wasn't too difficult; however, it is incredibly time consuming.

The Chaplain's bike is almost fully painted. I'll finish him up in September, and post some photos.

Awesome chaplain! Really good...

Thank you, Brother Nemiel.

I thought I'd post a quick update as the chaplain is taking forever. The photo (best of three) was taken in a quickly constructed light box; however, I need more than one light for future shots. I don't feel it shows how much work has been done, but future shots will get better.

There's still so much to do on the bike and I haven't even touched the chaplain yet. This project has taken on a life of its own.

Really crisp work there FC, love the screen.

Thank you Stobz. I am very pleased with how the screen turned out.

Are you going with the saddlebags too?

Thank you Elmo9141. I have no plans for the saddlebags. This is unfortunate as I have a pile of them doing nothing; however, extra detail translates into extra time which I always lack. There is a command squad coming at some point in the future along with somebody to lead this outfit and... Perhaps next time. I am going to have a shiny trio of purity seals per your earlier recommendation.

I've added this chaplain to the latest painting challenge. This really pleases me as I knew I couldn't finish him for the ETL. Now if I can finish him this month...

Yes...YES...YEESSSSSSS!!!

I'm so glad you could find time to get him finished, he looks great FC.

Well done, I'm sure no one has noticed the lack of base;)

Go get a pearl

Edit: Thanks for the chains idea too, I pinched it off you:)

^_^ Really great - now we have TWO AWESOME RAVENWING CHAPLAINS ;)

Quite! And while Stobz' Chappy looks fast and furious this guy looks like a wall of hate! And imagine what will happen to the target if he's hit by the PF hand holding a Crozius. The mental image killed my appetite for dinner let me tell you! ^_^

Congratulations Fynil - this is a truly scary Chaplain - like they are supposed to be!

Thanks for all the feedback, brothers.

Stobz: Thanks for the last minute motivation. I'm humbled by your chappy, but it gives me something to shoot for in the future. None of my Ravenwing have bases (the boxed set has the 50x25 ones which are no good in my opinion). I've remedied this by ordering some of the new bike bases along with a few 60mm one for the attack bikes. October vow perhaps? You're welcome on the chains idea, though I pinched it myself.

Elmo9141: Thank you, brother. Menacing - I like that!

Zedrenael: Thanks. It's taken some time to figure out how to smooth the lighter paints, but I've been improving.

bevulf: I appreciate that very much. It's easy to feel outclassed at times, but it does motivate me to keep trying to reach the next level.

Captain Semper: Wall of hate! You are truly the great motivator of the chapter, sir. Thank you so much.

Where'd the head come from that you're using for your chaplain?

Many apologies for not getting back sooner, Raibaru. I picked the head up in a random box of 40K bits and sprues at Goodwill of all places. Having done a bit of homework, it appears to come from the Chaos Defiler set.

I've been working a lot of hours lately, but I've managed to finish up Chaplain Jules, alias the Wall of Hate. C&C always welcome.

My first sculpting, first free handing, and first weathering powders, I feel he turned out decently; however, it's always humbling to post in the DA forum. We've some amazing modelers/painters. His base is lame, but I did it this morning to enter it at my FLGS's first painting competition. I've been staring at this guy for so many hours, all I see is what I failed to do, but as of today I am calling him finished.

I know he's a bit disjointed, but I wanted to try several new things. I like the free hand skulls, though they probably don't fit well. The DA symbol is decent. I dislike the sculpted shoulder. The weathering powders are difficult to see.

This is easily my best work to date (in case I sound overly critical). I'm going to get started on my next 'project' in a week or two, though I think I may aim to complete it quickly as opposed to trying to further raise my own bar.

Thank you all so much for always providing so much inspiration.

Thanks, Chaplain Lucifer and Stobz. I appreciate the kind words.

He took a bit too much of my October so here goes nothing...

October oath: I vow to complete bases for my entire Ravenwing force. No time to waste!

I know it's a really small vow, but I'm happy with the result. I'm even more happy to have bikes which will stand up during battle! Now to get some sleep and let the glue dry.

FC

Captain Semper, I've put it off for so long thinking I would devise some magical basing technique or find the perfect resin base for these guys. However, I'm ecstatic with the results; especially considering how easy it was.

Arkley, thank you brother. I'm glad you like Chaplain Jules.

On a side note, I won a $15 gift certificate with the Chaplain over the weekend. The prize money was well spent on an upcoming vow...
