I think the force sword looks fantastic, great job! You could possibly do a highlight using a brighter orange or yellow color on the edge of the sword, but honestly it doesn't really need anything else to be considered complete. Bring on the rest of the tactical squad!

@ Brother Kovash - cheers for the compliments, i tried doing what you suggested and it worked out fine. i think the main problem is that i have realized that i HATE the thing that resembles a cadburys curly wurly in the middle of the sword, that's what is making me dislike it. Luckily though, i have a spare which i am working on so hopefully that will go more to plan.

Another update!

Albeit a poor one, i do apologize for the photos in advance. the light was getting dimmer and i had to use my bedroom light which is horrible for taking photos in.

Second demi squad Raphael!

And two shots of the Plasma cannon guy, just because he's my fave model out of the tactical squad. He just reminds me of this

at approximately 1:40. It always makes me lol

i'll get a full group shot tomorrow. The bases are being left for now until i can get the urban texture paint to try and emulate SSC's urban bases which are excellent.

Helloooooooooo,

It's been a while hasn't it? well i've been out of the game for a while (mainly due to borderlands 2 and visiting my GF in Hastings) but i'm back with a vengeance...ish, sort of.

Some group pics as promised

And a close up of the helmet

i just need to get the base colours of the cloak down so i can start wet blending them, will probably need to touch up the face too just to make it look right.

Very nice work, having any plans to alter the second tac squad a little to make them different? I've seen quite a few conversions of the sergeant kicking round the board's.

Hey redhorse, if i'm honest i think i'll use the other parts to convert another tactical squad set. I have some ideas, like i want to use the librarian's hand to make a sgt about to draw his pistol. Not sure how i'll go about it, but i'll be sure to show my progress on here!

cheers

UPDATE

So as well as slaving over this chaplain's cloak, I've started on the Ravenwing so there should be a nice slab o' pics coming very soon.

In the meantime though, I've finished the main parts of the cloak. I went against what i said about using three colours and it paid off for the inside of the cloak.

I'm really happy with the result. on a bad note though, the outside came out pretty meh. So with green use three shade to wet blend! it's will be easier and will look better!

Here's the outside

They both need a wash of something, but i might cover them in gloss then do it, to protect my work. Anyone tried doing this?

EDIT: my models don't have fluff on them, it's the effing lens btw......

Solid work all round fella. However, I think you need to be a tad braver and add a final highlight on your minis e.g. on the corner of the bolter casing etc. That'd add the bit of definition they're lacking. A yellow glaze might add a bit of pop to the cloak you mentioned.

BTW don't knock Curly Wurleys cos I love 'em :) !

Inside is very nice. Outside isn't bad imo. It will look better when you'll define chapter badge a details.

That's true, although i'm not sure how to do the chapter badge, either in black, grey or red.. :o

Curley Wurley's are excellent! I'd never dis them! they are full of childhood memories!

Belive it or not, i have been highlighting the bolter cases. I think it's a mixture of bad lighting on my part with later pictures and the fact that the citadel range is particularly good. Plus i glaze them red after I've highlighted them, so that probably doesn't help ;)

Lovely stuff DAD, I'm enjoying what your doing with that Chaplain, very swish.

Looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks Wraithwing, i wanted him to look quite dapper. Like a futuristic pimp... ;)

To keep this thread from rotting i thought i'd drop in a few pics. The pace has slowed due to new work hours, but hopefully i'll get these finished. Especially the ravenwing which are a part of my vow.
